  1. Is this match really off? Still shown on BSPA website, and BBC weather I've just watched seems set fair.
  2. When we cut & paste stuff, we usually have the decency to quote the source, old chap.
  3. Cardiff City? Berwick Rangers? Storm in a teacup. SACU has been affiliated to ACU for years, would probably remain so. Not too long ago the Australian and New Zealand federations were similarly affiliated -- this was when Briggs, Mauger and Airey all raced for "England". In speedway, nothing will change. Except the Glasgow and Edinburgh supporters will probably become wealthier, and their speedways more-profitable.
  4. While this may not be the thread (although you started it) as Glasgow are currently facing a long-term rider-replacement for Berge, their change might introduce two new names, don't you think?
  5. I'm not an Edinburgh fan, but as I asked on the other thread: Will the "H&S" police have OK'd the Showground by then, or will the site still be contaminated, dangerous, infected, polluted or whatever? Because, regardless of which team they support, who in their right mind will plan a Peterborough visit until the mystery is solved?
  6. For what it is worth, "Great Britain" is an island, not a nation. The name of any team representing the four nations comprising the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland should by Team UK. After September 18th? Who knows. But never Great Britain, which doesn't include Ulster, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Angelsey, etc, etc.
  7. Peterborough are fixtured to race Scunthorpe on Tuesday 13th. Will the "H&S" police have OK'd the Showground by then, or will the site still be contaminated, dangerous, infected, polluted or whatever?
  8. I cannot believe that Peterborough Panthers have not made a statement, explaining the nature of their H&S difficulties that caused this postponement. Do they really believe people will forget? The truth, whatever it is, will out. They'd be better getting their story in first.
  9. Very well put, Arthur. The problem for the BSPA here might mean the unfortunate Ty Proctor having to be temporarily thrown to the sharks to preserve the bigger picture. If the Border Agency (is that the department Teresa May wants to wind up as being not fit for purpose?)has got its teeth into this one it might take more than one meeting between BSPA and BA to sort out without collateral damage to the sport as a whole. Maybe Sheffield putting the story in the local paper (isn't the HQ of the Border Agency in Sheffield?) before the BA had confirmed his situation was what highlighted it?
  10. If there was any common denominator between the Coventry cock-up for the ELRC and this mysterious "health and safety" situation at Peterborough, it might tell us something. Oh, wait.......
  11. The rules are pretty clear, Sheffield's problem was jumping the gun and putting it in the papers before they got approval of the changes. Which perhaps alerted the authorities that a UK citizen was being replaced at his workplace by a "foreigner" (sorry, Ty). I see they've put more in the papers today, whether this will help or hinder the undecided case remains to be seen. No offence to the new promotion, but Hoggy might just have handled the matter a little more carefully.
  12. At last we hear more of the story from Sheffield. If the border authorities don't give Proctor the move then the Tigers' 1-7 remains as is, with Adam Roynon in it. If they don't get Proctor, it is either the old team with Adam riding, the old team with r/r for him or the old team with an NL guest. Or the threatened afternoon (but not evening) rain coming to their rescue like a gust of kamikaze wind.
  13. OK, let's get going. 3 days out. We know the Berwick team, I guess. Any idea of Sheffield's side?
  14. 55 points against Glasgow. 55 points against Newcastle. 54 points against Sheffield. Two weeks ago there were shouts to dump Matej Kus. Last week it was Liam Carr wasn't good enough. Now you want someone else to go? As a supporter of a club, you clearly haven't got a hope.
  15. The form of Anders Thomsen shows Glasgow they have more to thank Alun Biggart for than merely saving the club from extinction in 2012, and burning his fingers financially in 2013 to keep it going. Anders must be the brightest Danish prospect to hit Britain for a while -- well done, Mister B!
  16. Was Ty Proctor EVER approved in a re-declared Sheffield 1-7? We know they trumpeted in the papers he was, and told Berwick he was in their line up on Thursday and would be covered by r/r on Saturday. But was the new 1-7 ever approved by BSPA? Did Sheffield maybe forget something in their excitement about making, and announcing, the deal? Perhaps a need for a different kind of visa, or something? The BSPA would picked up on what was going on when Berwick (presumably) pointed out on Saturday morning the rule about no facility being available for a rider who has never raced for a club. The BSPA then realised Sheffield's "old" 1-7 was still valid and presumably offered a sop to the Tigers by ruling that r/r could be used for Roynon, who will hopefully be spared the usual 28-day ban in view of the circumstances. At that point the authorities would have immediately told the Sheffield promotion/ownership, along with the referee and Berwick promotion/ownership what was to happen. Around lunchtime on Saturday? Amazingly, the Sheffield ownership/promotion then failed to inform either of their two team managers of this, who then turned up at Berwick expecting to be using a facility for Proctor! How very embarrassing. One feels that a certain Mr Hoggart just might be smiling into his Ovaltine tonight.
  17. There's no indication on SCB website of his being included yet. Which makes r/r even more laughable/dubious/illegal. Sheffield seem to be getting away with a very doubtful move here. Berwick must surely appeal this awful decision.
  18. As posted elsewhere.... From the 2014 Speedway Regulations: Rule 16.5.3 No facility is permitted to replace a rider, who although included in a re-declaration has not made an appearance for that team since being re-declared. From Berwick's Newsletter this morning: The Tigers have been granted a facility by the BSPA Management Committee to deploy the rider-replacement regulation for Australian Ty Proctor, who is unavailable to them.

  20. Interesting to look at BSPA site. No mention of Ty Proctor in Sheffield's 1-7 yet?
  21. Presume from reports out of Scotland that Dimitri Berge will be withdrawn from Leicester. Will he be replaced by another Frech lad, or by Tom Perry?
  22. Definately worth a trip, even if only for the burgers and pies!
