  1. Massive signing and the first one in the UK that has genuinely excited me for a good few years. Will definitely try and get to either P'boro or Ipswich when he is in town.
  2. Better version of what Somerset attempted last season. However needs 4 out of the top 5 to fire every week, strong side but cannot carry any passengers.
  3. Wood is very suspect unfortunately. Brilliantly talented on a bike but lack of funding and understanding on what engines need to do has held him back at anything above NL. If he gets a lot of assistance at Kent he could be a good option but how deep will the pockets be with two sides? Morley seems a no brainer but that doesn't always apply. How long has Steve Boxall got left on his ban?
  4. Only outside shout is Gilkes but thats if he fancies the step up, if he doesn't want closer to home like Leicester or Brum etc the rest are either else where or not at the level yet. Don' know if Adam Ellis fancies Champs next season but would be a good signing, Bacon as mentioned else where also. basically any strong gaters would suit Kent which is why its often odd that Len builds teams of racers.
  5. Under decent instruction could reignite his career in 2020. Not excelled anywhere technical that i can recall so certainly a challenge although in a side built to keep him at reserve should favour all parties.
  6. the delay is the BSPA looking up the meaning of 'ratifying'
  7. Would be great to have Danny back but suspect he will rejoin Scunny as for Alfie im personally staggered he gets mentioned so often and would struggle in any side.
  8. Kings racing on a Wednesday night so very much still a strong chance it will be Nicholls.
  9. Personally i don't think so but ive been surprised before plus the Nicholls signing is quite a carrot for any rider who is willing to learn.
  10. Little mention of Drew from the presentation night, normally Len likes to make a fuss of returning riders so Gilkes, Ledwith & Mulford all being kept sweet (for whichever level) but Kemp, Jenkins & Rowe largely ignored so unlikely to see them back in either side.
  11. The frustration with Kyle is that it seems to be said every season. That said he does seem settled at Eastbourne so fingers crossed this is finally the year he really kicks on.
  12. Phillips has had backing and opportunities that many others have not. In reality he went from 3.00 - 4.98 in 2014, 4.98 - 6.38 in 2015 and that has largely been the sum of his progress. He stagnated in 2016 before his nasty accident in 2017 and has continued to be an average 6 point NL rider. In my mind signing these are the types of riders repeatedly spoils the sport, offer progress or move on and give someone else a chance.
  13. Much depends upon the grade / ego of riders. IOW have successfully ran handicapped meetings for the past few seasons which have been well received. That said they only really work on racers tracks where passing and momentum can be built up over the laps.
  14. Now if there was a thread titled i love British Speedway but it frustrates me because......
  15. Is bumping it up to top 6 for play off places a bit like prizes for taking part at school sports days? Surely teams should be build with a top four target at least if not to top the table. Scunny have a promoter in the inner circle and can basically start team building early as they know the points limit and rulings that will be voted through and still only aim at making the number up.
  16. It should be the case across all the leagues. A range of three to six point riders in every race will produce a better product than ten to two, even the Prem has made a clever decision this year by upping the lower level and the product has been improved overall (crikey that was hard to say).
  17. with TJ and Phillips signed elsewhere maybe Newcastle do have a chance in 2020
  18. Think Jake will be a strong force at number 1 next season which will take care of a lot and solid engine room if Ayres at 2 and Tero + TJ at 3&4 but its a side full of riders who can go missing, Aarnio is on a lower average for a reason same as Jorgenson and the reserves will get a pasting away. Mid table side once again.
  19. The issue with comparing National League to trials, grasstrack etc is that riders are expected to attend meetings midweek at various points around the country rather than pick and choose their own meetings, locations and race dates. That said i certainly won't disagree with the spending levels across the sport as a whole. Teams need to stick to what they can afford and potentially face sanctions if they cannot provide a sustainable business / adhere to fair play rules. There will always who state its not viable for them but there will be others who enjoy racing and are prepared to race for less. Surely the sport as a whole is more valuable than the services of a single rider for a single season.
  20. Don't forget that isn't the whole story though. Poland take a genuine interest in junior riders, they have to be a certain calibre to even make squads in lower divisions but they are all given track time and assistance (something that several clubs in this country choose to ignore). They are then given the chance to spend some time in a protected position but they are already well on the way to making the grade before that point.
  21. He did and it was an excellent venture but it ran at a loss and sadly since those days the amount of air fence panels at Iwade has reduced to almost zero so i would be very surprised if NL fixtures were run there this season. Plus £5-8 more than enough for SDL but i cannot see people prepared to part with £15 for Iwades delights. That said it is a very useful training facility and Kent as a County is very lucky to have the facilities.
  22. Well fingers crossed by the end of the week we will know if you are a well informed poster who has earnt some respect from others or just a nonsense talking (insert expletive here). I know what my opinion currently is but im happy for it to be changed.
  23. I believe Kent could sustain two teams as they have useful club sponsorship however the two bigger blockers would be the standard of the NL side as it would have to be assembled on the cheap (but with less team places perhaps riders will demand less monies) and will there be enough weeks available given the number of competitions there are at Championship level?
  24. Taken from the above although i concede not a trusted source so wouldn't read too much into it
