  1. He did and it was an excellent venture but it ran at a loss and sadly since those days the amount of air fence panels at Iwade has reduced to almost zero so i would be very surprised if NL fixtures were run there this season. Plus £5-8 more than enough for SDL but i cannot see people prepared to part with £15 for Iwades delights. That said it is a very useful training facility and Kent as a County is very lucky to have the facilities.
  2. Well fingers crossed by the end of the week we will know if you are a well informed poster who has earnt some respect from others or just a nonsense talking (insert expletive here). I know what my opinion currently is but im happy for it to be changed.
  3. I believe Kent could sustain two teams as they have useful club sponsorship however the two bigger blockers would be the standard of the NL side as it would have to be assembled on the cheap (but with less team places perhaps riders will demand less monies) and will there be enough weeks available given the number of competitions there are at Championship level?
  4. Taken from the above although i concede not a trusted source so wouldn't read too much into it
  5. Precisely these guys head half way round the world at great expense to their family and themselves to make or break, often the decision to head over is based a lot more upon when a rider is ready and capable rather than the UK's approach of shows some promise. There will always be riders who fall through the cracks and plenty of talented Aussies have gone home over the years because things haven't worked out in much the same way that UK riders have slipped away too but those who remain are the ones who made the grade and have more to offer the sport as a whole.
  6. I thought this was a Championship section and yet Poole & Kent both have threads despite not being officially accepted. The setup is no different to Eastbourne & Brum last season, one side went about making signings with confidence whilst the other nervously waited and had to pick up some of the scraps. In any case if it is only one place available Kent will have to do very well to stuff it up. The stadia, finances, fan base and recent record are all far superior to Plymouths and i would be staggered if the Kings are not accepted.
  7. Palin has the backing both financially & more importantly of his family to keep him grounded but progressing. Many of the burn bright but fade away riders mentioned had either one or both of those factors missing and that is what finished them off not bike ability. In order to improve you have to race a better standard regularly and in the NL Palin just won't get that. The Aussies have to come over and drop straight into Championship so its sink or swim for them and the reason so many make it to a decent standard is that they have no other choice, giving riders an easy time will make them soft. Tai, Lambert and other success stories made it because they were strong and determined enough. Its now for Jordan to prove which camp he will fall into but i wish him all the very best and have a suspicion he will succeed.
  8. I don't debate the reasoning and in fact think its a very strange requirement any side stepping up from the NL must keep a side going in the lower tier but if stepping down from higher is ok. Its a double edged sword because the more teams in the NL the better but forcing teams to run two sides could easily be financial suicide and cost the existence of the clubs in the long run. That said Poole should be made to run a youth round next year after skipping out of their agreement this season.
  9. Don't forget that Weymouth are only an MSDL side that run after the main Poole meetings so the number of Wednesdays would be available......beaten by seconds grrr
  10. Glad it was organised with such late notice probably hoping to keep those with valid conflicting opinions from the mafia away. I for one hope that this spawns a level playing field for all leagues & teams and not just those with a vested interest.
  11. Forgetting injuries i would have Bacon over Shanes in a heartbeat. Yes there might be the wide riding entertainment factor from Shanes but in Tom Bacon there is a rider who is incredibly well polished and professional and knows how to win.
  12. Below are the list of homogenisation numbers i can find. Unless i am reading them wrong most relate to 2015. I also can't recall seeing a manufacture year stamped onto any silencer (however i will confess its been a while since ive looked closely and the heat shields do hide a lot of the markings so will probably have to defer to someone more knowing? DEP T10 FIM TRS 2015D DEPT15 Free Flow FIM 26 AY 15 King “2015” FIM 071 Y 15 MOTAD FIM 091 T46 POLDEM 2 FIM 06 BP 78 REMUS V4 FIM 10 CT15 REMUS V7 FIM11 V15
  13. From what i am aware the major supplier of silencers across the UK are all marked and marketed as 2015 KING silencer. Even purchasing one this season will see it stamped 2015 so are you saying that everyone is being slightly tucked up and after the 2020 everyone will need to replace everything they own?
  14. Craziness. Rider of the year not just at Scunny but challenging for title throughout the league. If he isn't signed up by now i doubt he will be back, he is a rider that needs to feel the love. Ive an inkling that he could be headed Redcar bound and he loves it there so if the Scorps lose out.
  15. Any side with Ruddick in is barmy, barely ridden all season due to "concussion effects". Ully & Andersen out, Bacon & Ayres in. With reductions etc could probably swap Ruddick for Kinsley and have a very tasty side.
  16. With the best will in the world i can't see many from the 2019 side being included with the possible exception of Gilkes (and even he has made noises about wanting to be racing nearer home). Kemp will be better off elsewhere, Jenkins needs to get his confidence up at NL & Rowe has signed elsewhere. Kennett feels likely, Nicholls would be a great signing and Morley feels like a clever one. The rest who knows maybe even one from the hot list who everyone wants? I just hope the big international is Lasse Bjerre lol
  17. The sentiment is certainly right and it runs throughout the sport. Ive lost count of times that NL clubs have come out and stated that there are not any suitable riders around to fill a reserve berth, these teams are generally ones who do nothing to assist with future rider development or offer any chances to emerging riders. Fortunately for the Thompsons they have Leicester who will move into any league to back them and Palin has good connections with both Scunthorpe & Belle Vue but there will always be others who fall through the cracks as they are in bigger need of guidance and mental assistance than bike ability.
  18. Even in the current MSDL setup there are expenses and more paid to riders and the suggestions here are to get NL level riders to turn up and race for nothing / a can of fuel sadly its dream on. Development league riders break their own banks repeatedly due to the love of riding and the outside chance that they might make the grade and land a league spot. Many also do it because there is no fee to ride and it is free laps (less the initial setup fees, bike fuel, oil, engine wear& tear, diesel, van running costs and time off work). If it was pay to ride with a big risk of the event getting cancelled the numbers would be non existent. The refs deem 22 heats a double header and require double the fees hence only 1 x 6 heat 2nd halves can be run and even then they are often not overseen to the same standards as expected in a main match.
  19. Obvious choice and would be excellent if it were to happen, that said there are a lot of hoops to jump through before getting a track signed off.
  20. Possibly/probably. Always a tricky one as raising the profile of the series is always a positive but Waj would likely be better for the actual product on show?
  21. Also is the 4 years of silencer homogenisation not up so there could be potential new models added to the usable list?
  22. In fairness if the BSPA looked at supporting the needs ( of all clubs rather than the big / more affluent few then maybe Buxton and alike would still be going i don't mean financially but by helping and maintaining rules so that all clubs can compete). As for the GTR fiasco all those involved should have one tied to each ankle and thrown into the nearest lake.
  23. Feel for Waj, personally i feel he would offer more to the competition not just this season but over the coming years than Jonasson.
  24. Certainly going for the 'big names' in 2020 and rightly so. Early showings suggest that Hansen could be quite a threat in the competition, THJ had better put more money into his bikes than he did when riding a Poole but will mix it and of course Shanes fully deserves a WC. Hard on a couple who missed out perhaps but much better to have riders at the sahrp end than those who would be filling the minor placings.
  25. There is no reason why all PL clubs don't host an MSDL side but only Poole & Swindon do (and both of those only started this year). PL clubs don't care about lower tiers as proven over and over again unless its a benefit to them. Add in 4 rider sides would either expose the gulf in riders further or set the standard higher for riders to break into the sport. Plus its a hell of a rush for the riders involved. Have you ever seen the effort 2nd half riders go through to get 3 rides in 6 races so to take it up to 4 rides in 8 would mean big gaps or some very unhappy riders.
