  1. One final mention for all those who are down on the development leagues and the wobblers Danny started out in the MDL at Rye House so well done to hinge & bracket for giving him the chance and hopefully sticking two fingers up to those who doubt its worth every legend has to start somewhere.
  2. Thats the approach that Somerset have taken all year. I would like to think that Luke has considered his options and ensured he gets a guarantee per meeting but will that be enough compared to tarring his reputation? He isn't kicking on at NL yet just showing glimpses of form and his bikes won't keep up with the pace of 2 leagues but with just 7 meetings left and a couple of the weaker reserves within those teams there is a chance of a point or two.
  3. In all fairness i didn't say Danny would win a race, score a point or otherwise. I said he was the one rider in the British final field that might have sold out the British GP. There is certainly no other rider who will dramatically increase ticket sales to the same degree (although i suspect Charles Wright will draw a few extras). Lets not forget there were more than enough who deemed Ayres would go out and be completed outclassed and embarrassed at the British final on Monday night, i think there would only be one winner if a peoples vote was held for rider of the night.
  4. For me Danny was the one man in the line up that would have sold out Cardiff should he have qualified. Crazy as a box of frogs but thats why everyone love him.
  5. Regs are back and its as clear as ever. But definitely has up to 3.00 rather than 2.00 which makes zero sense whatsoever. A Any absent rider on SGBP or SGBC duty G who must be in a NDL 1-7 or RR B Absent #1 G or RR who must be in an NDL 1-7 C 1 absent rider 2-5 by MA RR (unless RR is already being used then it’s a G) D 2 absent riders 2-5 by MA RR x 1, G x 1 at the Team Managers discretion E Additional absent riders 2-5 by MA any rider not in an NDL Declaration and whose MA does not exceed NDL 3.00 F Absent 6 and/or 7 by MA any rider not in an NDL Declaration and whose MA does not exceed NDL 3.00 G No facility Any rider not in a NDL Declaration and whose MA does not exceed 3.00
  6. With respect though had Chris & co had all day on Sunday on the phone they would have found a rider so Gilkes late withdrawal didn't help the cause. I did hear that whilst Hume & Perks had full control of the home heat leaders the tail end flattered to deceive and the high returns were not as impressive as the scores suggest but with only James Laker who didn't seem to cope that well with persistent back to back rides and No rider at the tail it was always a big ask. The Leicester side have been hotly tipped throughout and wil pose a threat come play off time if they can do something about the vacant Ruddick position. Kent meanwhile are still competitive but suffering with such an inexperienced side and the injury jinx it seems to bring with it.
  7. Can you blame the riders though? The temptation to ride for Championship sides with sign on fee's, the prestige of the next level in some cases kevlars, bikes supplied etc along with the possibility of racing full time and no work is pretty tempting. There have been 2nd halfers up and down the country who have raced in the Champs and higher simply because teams needed a rider quick. Do you think they did it because they believed they were that standard all of a sudden or were they hoping to pick up the odd gifted point and have a nice photo in the race jacket for the mantle.
  8. Sorry poorly put. I did mean unattached 2 pointer but they are even harder to find at short notice given the location of the track, the fact that bikes have to be ready to go and obviously the majority of riders are working. James Laker usually answers those last minute calls but he was already booked in.
  9. Putting them in is fine but the cap needs to be at the top end. having riders on 10 point averages and 2 point averages on the line together is never going to produce an entertaining product. It might also be sensible to cap it to one 2.00 rider per team so there is more completion for spaces and there fore push the standard up rather than the current situation where there are many sub standard riders competing in the championship.
  10. I though Danny was a moto x convert? Not sure i have ever seen or heard of him on the grass? He is though a true gent and has developed into a class act from what was a very scruffy beginning. There will be plenty who remember his first year at Kent & Rye House where he would fall multiple times in a race, so much so that he developed the ability to slide off and remount in almost one movement. He works tirelessly on his riding and on bettering himself and its really paying off. He also has the theatrics, showmanship and pantomime villian down to a tee so love or loathe him everyone wants to see Danny Ayres. If you ever get the chance to talk to him please do as he is one of the most genuine, honest and lovable people you will ever meet.
  11. Looks like Ablitt might be stepping down before his average kicks in so Laker / a.n. other 2 pointer for him. Gilkes (if he can get fit will slot into the main team just fine but Spooner at reserve is a worry and Clouting must be stood by the phone waiting? Looked a good effort from the home side last night but beaten by a stronger unit, not sure if there is any punishment for not fielding a rider? Gilkes crashed on Friday and informed the club on Monday morning he wasn't fit to ride which isn't ideal as getting guests for remote locations like Kent at short notice is no easy task.
  12. Good news for Kent and the finances. I still think it should be an entertaining meeting however it doesn't have the lure of Gilkes & The Thompsons at reserve like when the initial fixture list was drawn up so i will watching at home and keeping everything crossed for he who D'Ayres.
  13. Did they ask you to ride at number 6 while you were on the phone?
  14. If Kent pull the win out the bag then definitely fair play to them but low reserves against 2nd strings running at reserve for the Cubs is going to be a slaughter. Sadly the lack of interest on here could be telling for attendances at this match and the Cradley one, big risk running against the British final unless you have too and for Kent when one of the most attractive visitors are on display also it looks a bit of a blooper.
  15. Bold moves by a Somerset promotion who whiff a touch of desperation this season. I fear that failure to reach the play off could spell financial disaster given the make up of the side. After the hairdryer treatment has led to departure from the side of two likable riders lets hope the newcomers are given a little bit more compassion. Nathan Stoneman is certainly talented but tends to override his ability and that generally ends up with spells on the injury list. Luke Harris is a rider who i have waited to see kick on for a couple of years and its not really happened, i think the ability is there but the equipment is probably going to see him fall short of any meaningful assault on the Championship.
  16. I could (and quite likely am) 100% wrong but the regs are not available from the SCB site at the moment so cannot verify one way or another.
  17. Whilst i agree with the long stoke sentiments i think the carb & clutch standardisation is a little out. Im not sure BZ carbs have been made for the past 10 years which would be one issue. However negating the excessive power through the rear wheel via the clutch could mean that there is less dependence on the better brands and that harder plates could work just as well and last longer adding to cost reductions.
  18. To be fair Henry had NL offers but turned them down at the start of the season as the initial thought was that he didn't need them. He quickly backtracked but it was too late by then. He is a well polished and likeable lad who knows how to be publicly perceived but would benefit with a mentor behind the scenes to help him take the next step up as the majority of riders who have gone on to bigger things all learn from someone.
  19. Bump this back up because its easier. Kents woes continue with Gilkes injured & Ablitt taking a break from the sport at a wise time for himself as his average would have doubled after tonight even with a zero score although that doesn't help Kents cause. Poor Jacob Clouting must be sat on the sidelines kicking himself. If i can read the greensheets properly the Thompson twins move into the 1-5 and its Ryan Mac & RTD at reserve for the Cubs? Even so this looks like being Kents toughest test of the year which is a nightmare as its clashing with the British final.
  20. I thought that was the case (for a while) then im sure i saw in the regs a rider can come in as long as they are unattached and sub 3.00? However helpfully the regs are not available on the SCB site at the moment to check.
  21. I know its quite staggering as Wally has limited holiday leave from work and cannot get to Plymouth for league matches but can guest for all and sundry plus take up a team place with Brum. I think im so aghast with the situation im just not going to bother anymore.
  22. "The Potters have drafted in Kent’s Drew Kemp as a replacement for injured skipper Tom Perry who has been told to rest after hurting his back in the defeat at Kent on Monday" ......must have acted swiftly to book a last minute deal. In all fairness its a stupid rule and is being abused and fans lied to anyway so might as well ditch it and let the truth be known.
  23. Managed to get on the Stoke site and grabbed the below: STOKE: Drew Kemp, Shelby Rutherford, David Wallinger, Luke Priest (Captain), Connor Coles, Kieran Douglas, Joe Alcock, Team Manager: Adam Isherwood BELLE VUE: Jordan Palin, Danny Phillips, Leon Flint (Captain), Ben Rathbone, Jack Smith, Joe Thompson, Ben Woodhull, Team Managers: Steve Williams / Graham Goodwin Glad to see Kieran Douglas get a run out and will be interesting to see how he fares as his development league average is strong although limited track time may hamper him? Guests for both sides add an unfamiliar feel but the Potters will have to be on the top of their game to take something from this one i feel.
  24. Any truth in the rumour that Rye House has been sold to the go kart track?
