  1. Its certainly difficult to justify running another team in another league and charging a lower admission as a sensible business model as it could be seen a threat to the original team. That said i feel a NL side running on a weekend afternoon would bring in enough to make the venture successful and sustainable. Perhaps a link up with Reading to reintroduce the Racers as the Junior side could be possible? I think the track shape and standard at NL level would provide an excellent level of entertainment.
  2. I genuinely don't believe he is particularly happy there although in fairness he was patchy at Sheffield also, i feel there will be a mass exodus of riders from Kent over the winter. As for the result gutted to see IOW miss out on the play off spot but credit to Cradley who beat a lack lustre Kent side who in all fairness were probably going through the motions and riding sensibly.
  3. I would be gutted is Kent didnt return with all the points as i would love to see IOW in the play offs. Ledwith returning is obviously a risk but he has taken his tie to ensure he is right, Spooner at reserve will be a trump card providing he stays out of trouble as Sam Woolley seems unlikely to trouble the score card too heavily. For the host Clegg present is an obvious boost & Coles is more consistent than the enigma Halsey this year. Is Spencer out with concussion again? He rode at Plymouth recently so guessed that the suspension was up? Either way the visitors should have enough to take the away points and keep the Warriors fans happy.
  4. I think the vast majority on here wanted Danny Ayres to be at Cardiff. I can assure you that had he got the wild card he would have brought more supporters than any other rider in the event so dont dump on the NL. There are plenty of CL tracks that would kill for crowd levels at some of the NL tracks so pointing at leagues and standards for the issue is a little off.
  5. Jon Cook has done nothing but gob off and drag down the name of the club. The only thing i hope he eats appears from a horses back end Racing may have improved but how have the crowd numbers been? Have the Eagles turned a profit this year? I suspect Kent will have again but i doubt its enough to step up and do the same? Its wonderful having great racing for a couple of seasons but if the sport isnt sustainable it will be for a couple of seasons only and then everything will fold up.
  6. One of the most open fields in years? Czech look stronger than they ever ave but it feels hard to look past Germany then France as a top 2
  7. and im sure his doctors note is securely in Laurence Rogers glove box.....
  8. My big fear is that if Buster gets his desired top league how sustainable will it be long term? Clubs should be required to show a break even/profit before stepping into leagues with higher costs. Kent often post a profit at NDL level but would they in a higher division? Plymouth have been on a rallying call recently for spectators so increased out goings may be too much for several. Likewise those potentially dropping down who have stated that the losses are large at Championship level but how would crowd numbers hold up to NL racing (some tracks already post figures lower than several NL tracks). What needs to be considered in the long term sustainability of all clubs not just those that Buster is involved with otherwise he will find that there will be no league for his precious Kings Lynn to compete in.
  9. With respect if Belle Vue Colts have a supporter base in the thousands i would be staggered if they have bigger gates than Kent over the season. The locality may suit itself to travelling supporters from the north but 2nd fixture of a double header isn't often a great draw and generally ive seen more travelling Kent fans about than any other club in the NDL. I suspect there might be a couple of clubs that will gladly step down to fill the gaps, the costs of running speedway at present are alarming but no NDL will officially be the end of the sport.
  10. Ive been harsh on Stoke in the past mostly at times rightly because it has been a dump at times over the years with a terrible track and horrible people however.....it has been staging a revival of late and the whole product had started to smarten up its act, sadly too late perhaps although it sounds much like the sale was when rather than if. Stoke was my mega lottery win track and i ca safely say i will miss the old girl with all her rustic (rough and ready) charms.
  11. I believe its a max of 1 rider who has achieved 4 plus in the chsmps. That said with the averages listed even with a yeam building increase would make it hard to sign some riders on high averages. All those above have the potential to kick on to the next level and may well do without the safety net of NL racing. There will likely be some that dont cut it but a 50% success rate would be excellent.
  12. The massive plus side is that the vast majority of the list either do or have occupied team places in higher leagues and many will be looking at pushing on next season much like Mountain, Bacon etc did this year however it will be quite a substantial amount of riders who step up out of the league if it is to be the case. Providing the rules in the Championship are accommodating then the conveyor belt is slowly springing into life and the sport might start making positive steps forward for once.
  13. Agreed. Palin should go well around Scunthorpe and if Gilkes can sign for a home track that suits him it will be a huge benefit in his opening CL year.
  14. Certainly have no intentions to rubbish Dan at all and quite frankly his record in the NDL speaks for itself this season despite having the year hampered through injuries. The initial point which my posts were referring to was the readiness of riders and preparation prior to taking the step into National league racing although maybe not clearly worded enough. In reality the mistakes that were made during the early dev league matches probably taught Dan far more than those that he won by a distance and has helped mould him into a tremendously humble talent that he is today.
  15. Delighted to hear that he is on the mend and back on a bike. That said there are many other off track issues that i fear will always follow him around. A frustrating waste of talent much like Lewis Bridger.
  16. If its the same Dan i remember he spent a lotvof time doing laps on a 250 but not improving greatly. That said he must have been doing something right to join the revolution stable while it was running. I recall the first full year there were many 6 scores but final heat falls or break downs / broken chains which sounds like gremlins to me.
  17. No disagreements there. But if he is out long term which appears to be then he should be replaced in the side. RR is no good for the future of the sport
  18. It certainly is a commendable venture and a worthwhile one. I have no axe to grind with Leicester in particular just the rules themselves. It seems to happen every season Rob Shuttleworth, Lee Payne, Sam Chapman, Callum Walker all riders off the top of my head that were out for prolonged period of time (in Shuttleworth's case forever has anyone actually seen him?) and RR used non stop in their place at the benefit to the home sides. How can and should it be a benefit in this league to have no rider filling a position.
  19. Said it time and time again that the use of RR should be restricted to emergency use only. Allow guests of whatever level but give fans 7 riders and a meeting that doesn't drag out forever
  20. New reserve and tbc for Cradley is not a good start. If the top 4 all do something it could get close but in reality perks hume and RTD should be able to win this alone. No Ryan Mac again? Assuming work time off issues although didnt think rules allowed that this year?
  21. There might be a queue but as one of many Hagon sponsored riders this year (they have gone nuts) i still think the South Coast is nailed on.
  22. Keeping him proved to be the right thing then, well done bspa. Fortunately Wally has got signed up at Kent so thats his 5th team this season (6th if you count that he signed & dropped Plymouth pre-season before resigning). How many riders can better that in one year?
  23. Broc Nicol wasn't and i make him nailed on to be an Eagle next year.
  24. Blooming late withdrawal considering no-one was racing yesterday....glad im not a sceptic
