SGP Gorzow 2025
OveFundinFan replied to aarongaleuk's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Maybe..... In the UK money is tighter due to our government increases taxes they said they wouldn't. Nuff said. -
Basically thas what they did through the 60's.and 70"s. Go on Wikipedia and search out speedway world championships. It's interesting to how the development of the eastern block countries developed ie USSR with Plechanov and Samaradov, and Poland with Wyglenda and Woryna, Germany with Josef Hofmeister, with an occasional East German and Czechoslovakian.

By due diligence the Manchester Arena bombing could easily have been averted, but they took their eye off the guy and a dozen of more precious family members lost loved ones. Statistics are just numbers, no feeling in numbers, there are feelings when someone loses a life or suffer life changing injuries.

and apart from "what happened to Bewley last night", what happened to Holder and Lambert both nights? And what happened to gate 3, why was it giving such bad results? It's not usually that bad if I recall correctly. Was the track prepared differently last night? Same riders, but the racing didn't seem quite as good as Friday.

It is relevant. Flares, amongst other things, are not allowed, but they got in. Bag searches were being done, perhaps hapazordly. So if flares didn't get picked up what other things could have sneaked in. If you recall a few years ago someone got past security at the Manchester Arena, left a bag with a bomb in it and a large number mostly kids got killed. If security is lax anything could go on, not only bombs....machetes, you name it, it could happen.

This year Cardiff was earmarked a GP like previous years. And for the first time Belle Vue was earmarked. Two completely separate GP's. Then the deal with Cardiff fell through and the powers that be decided they wanted 10 GP's in the year and so it was decided for convenience to tag a second one onto Belle Vue, this ensuring 2 GP's in UK took place as originally scheduled. All done at fairly short notice. Almost certain it won't happen next year..just the one at BV.

What you looking for, Dean, does not exist in Britain at the moment.....a city centre track. Earlier you mentioned Workington, great track, so is I believe Redcar and Scunthorpe, throw in Glasgow and that's your nearest to Newcastle (that have a reputation of being race tracks). Could argue Sheffield is close to city centre...maybe 1 mile away, after that struggling for good race tracks until get to Poole. Iffy would be the likes of Ipswich, Oxford and Leicester, Kings Lynn may be viable...but that's it IMO. Belle Vue is not just a good race track...it's brilliant. After last night GP I was on YouTube and watched some heats from the BLRC, Peter Collins gate 1, Ivan Mauger gate 4, two other very capable riders. Collins had to come from the back (not a shock) to pass Mauger.....it was just like watching last night's SGP... passing line so similar. Not surprising since Mort designed the NSS, and he took into account not only Hyde Road but also some Euro tracks..I believe Torun was one of them. Point is...there is nothing else available in Britain to match the NSS....it just needs tweaking is some areas, like food and drink. Surprised no one mentioned toilet facilities. Back on 2016, for the world team/pairs, facilities for the 3rd/4th bend were lacking.

Maybe I missed it......but where would you have a British SGP??? or maybe you would forsake a SGP in Britain altogether....all due to the fact some (maybe many) would rather have a big booze up rather then be at a world championship event at one of the top 3 RACING tracks in the world.... If not THE best. My bet for tonight..... Zmarzlik all the way, BV not his best track...but he learned a lot last night and will be watching playbacks today learning more lines.

I think that's a bit poor. I know Jason's been knocked about and hoping to ride BUT it's a GP and surely ALL riders should have to confirm they are going to ride by a certain date. In this case the meeting reserve, LM, doesn't know where he stands with less then 48 hours to timed sessions. Smacks lack of professionalism to me. Yes I know there are 2 meeting day reserves, but the series reserves should be first pick.

Thank you for the thought Ian. I keep it in mind. However, if it does cost another month it will still come to just over £12 per meeting. I don't mind that, if BV staff prepare the track there should be 2 nights of cracking racing, Malilla is usually good racing too, can't remember what Gorzow is usually like.

Having cancelled my subscription to Discovery+ Premium (with TNT) back in January when they announced price increase from £6.99 per month to £30.99 per month I am going to subscribe for 1 month before this Fridays SGP Manchester. They do a rolling month, so no matter what date you start from the 1 month contract lasts 30 days. So start 12th June will make the expiry date 30 days later 11th July. That means I can watch 2x Manchester GPs, Gorzow 21st June and Malilla on 5th July. That's costing £8 per Gram Prix......worth it I reckon. Cancel the subscription anytime during the 1 month contract period, you still can watch for the full 30 days, but don't pay anymore.

Prague Speedway GP 2025
OveFundinFan replied to Fullmax's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not really, just an odd one or two -
I fully understand what you saying Ian, but it is still £650....... PLUS you get a better viewing experience at home on the telly. For sure there will be corporate seating their, but when you look at the crowd many/most of them look like "normal/average" people And its not just the world championship snooker that gets massive tv exposure, its other major championships from around the UK, Europe, middle and far east. Speedway at its best is an amazing sport to watch, not everyone's cup of tea for sure, certainly the sport does not get the publicity it deserves I read a comment from Dan Bewley re that amazing last race at the British Championship the other week.. something like..that's what this track can deliver when prepared well. Sounded to me he was having a dig at what the wrong input in track preparation can have at the 2 GP's in June, leave it to BV staff and it will be good...leave it to others and it could be average. If Charles Wright and Chris Harris can challenge the likes of Dan and Robert in that final race then, potentially, all 23 races will be amazing hot....if the tracks right.

Update....I went online to cancel subscription, before I pressed the "cancel" button there was an offer on the screen 7 months at the premium price, £30.99pm LESS 50% pm, for the next 7 months, works out at £108.50, Problem with that is the deal would end before the end of the speedway GP and SON season, plus under the 2024 pricing 7x £6.99 is £49, so still a significant difference. I still cancelled. I will take a look before the first GP see if any offers on.

Received the statement below this morning from Discovery+ My comments......I currently pay £6.99pm, can't justify paying £30.99pm. if they allow monthly membership of my choice I will select a month or two with say 3 GPs (June comes to mind). Already lost winter fuel allowance, energy prices up, council tax going up, and I don't think Labour has finished with pensioners yet, so something has to go. .........................
