  1. Great news on a positive post from a councillor of all people. As said by Little Thumper, I would still be cautiously optimistic about this especially as Belle Vue's stadium seem to take an eternity to get racing eventually going last year and that individual meeting they missed pretty much cost them nearly everything including promotion. I am suprised at some Bees fans saying they would rather no speedway than travel to Leicester however or terrible excuses like what if we can't travel or don't have transport. Many years ago at some points, I would take a train or a bus to go watch speedway that was miles away. Nowadays I guess speedway doesn't have the same love anymore which is disappointing and even away fans at all tracks seem scarce also.
  2. 1 Hougaard 2 Wilkinson/Roynon 3 Bucksowski 4 Lawson 5 Wozniak 6 2 point reserve 7 Whatever is left.
  3. Actually was just double checking the pictures and there doesn't look that much wrong. I obviously don't know the minimum criteria of what is needed to run a stadium but I have seen worse looking pics back when speedway first started. A round track. Check Shale. Check Seating. You don't need any. VIP area indoors and restaurants. You don't need this either. Referees box. A few wires ripped out wouldn't be that expensive or take long to do. Making sure there are no hazards for spectators. Seal off parts of the stadium if checks were not completed in time. Food and toilets. Presumably portaloos and the burger trailer will still be there from last year. That leaves the problem of the expense of floodlights and an air fence which will be reasonably costly and can be done in 4 months but I still think it's not in that bad of shape. Anything else?
  4. 4-500 fans? I think you're way off even if he did happen. Regardless it probably doesn't change the point that, I don't think there would be enough fans to financially keep them in thr Premiership. Perhaps CL or NL.
  5. Interesting two signings and not what I expected. Best rider I can see to fit into that average maybe Nike Lunna on a 4.9 but it is definitely looking like Swindon going for the Wolves 2016 option of strengthening later in the season.
  6. I would agree that some speedway is better than none. Isle of Wight had the situation where they closed for a year (or was it two) and have again reopened but it seems like the Bees fans would rather follow this option than watch their team a few more miles up the road. Although I do agree about the Leicester track but surely they can do something. Belle Vue need a promotion and Coventry need a track. What's the odds of a year merge with two of the biggest ever clubs in British speedway doing that. Belle Vue Bees sound better than the Coventry Aces. I am sad for speedway right now.
  7. I don't think that is fair on the other promoters. Poole have much more to offer a rider thanks to their great sponsorship and bigger crowds. You could be the greatest promoter in the world, but if you don't have the crowds or the sponsorship interested in your area of this country, I think it is harsh to the other promotions as bad promoters. Like I wouldn't call a Manchester United FC chairman any better than a Bury FC chairman. To be honest, I am just pleased the league is running and hasn't gotten to the state of Denmarks 5 man teams yet.
  8. Surely he maybe at Somerset or Leicester like last season. Somerset is where my money would be. Tbh, I would be surprised if Masters signed for Wolves as they would look very top heavy. His average is nearly 9 so he should probably be a Leicester heatleader unless he has replaced Fricke at Belle Vue but can't see it. Somerset is a maybe with Tungate and Graczonek.
  9. Well I don't see any public announced confirmed signings unless you are part of the Somerset promotion who is quietly in the know.
  10. I keep seeing this word KKS but I haven't the foggiest idea what it means so appreciate any help as I am not 'down' with these new youthful terms. Anyhow back to Kings Lynn. Cannot see Chris Holder riding there and would be surprised to see Zagar join, so true heatleaders are starting to look scarce for the teams who haven't signed any. Kings Lynn, Somerset and Leicester (presumably Belle Vue have Cook and Fricke) are all still yet to announce and probably will be battling for the signature of Kim Nilsson, Joonas Kylmakorpi or perhaps Krzysztof Bucksowski. I cannot think of many more heatleaders so options are to pack the top order with riders like Schlein, Bech, Gomolski, Woryna etc.
  11. That probably won't make a difference when Coventry need a 4-2 in the last heat against Swindon to draw the meeting and Jason Doyle wins by 10 lengths to secure the meeting. However the team isn't all doom and gloom. I think most fantasy Premiership sides would have Bates and K Bjerre as they are on very good averages that could easily add a point and a half. That may have to make up for the rest who could all drop a point but than I wrote off Wolves at the start of last year so you never know. Quote Clive Fisher 'It's a funny old game' referring to speedway on the days of Screensport.
  12. Interesting side formed. Gone for a Leicester 2016 approach with two strongish reserves and a steady top five. All Premier League riders last season and probably this season is another interesting note. I think they also plan perhaps maybe to do a Swindon and sign stronger riders later on in the season.
  13. Interesting. Where did you source this from? The Sun? Been to both and prefer beaches to roundabouts to be honest. As Aces says, it really depends what your tastes are.
  14. Could be that but I am sure somebody posted those three digits in that order. I had no idea Jack Smith was son of Andy as had not seen it listed anywhere. Suprised at no announcements yet for the Aces although obviously I can understand the ongoing promotional issues.
  15. But he is not a Poole asset nor would riding Wedensdays be any good to ride for a club if you are riding in the Danish League. I still think it will be Todd Kurtz for brotherly and Aussie team spirit.
  16. Well shows what I know about building a stadium. So your saying it's around 5000 to shale a track if you are sure to be correct. That's crazy really. Dearer than air fences isn't it?
  17. This is a rather odd situation and more bad news for UK speedway. No idea how much shale is but I am sure you could get some from a tip somewhere but fittings are quite dear. Terrible contract that obviously want to see the Coventry promotion fail and wonder what odds we are going to get for a Coventry/Leicester merger. Or at least Coventry borrowing the track until their own is sorted if applicable with the rules.
  18. Fans keep mentioning this but I think their forgetting the point. The point is if you take did take the 12.5+ average, that would leave you roughly for 4.25 and less for your No 6 rider. Being realistically, who would you sign? Robert Branford was a PL reserve last season and has signed this year on a 4.60. Take the 11.07 of Kasprzak leaves 5.80. In terms of this league, that is a massive amount of difference and quality of rider you can get for the average. Riders like Klindt, Todd Kurtz, U21 performer Nike Lunna. That is a definite step up to an ok PL reserve.
  19. Or if no Schlein due to a fallout, replace with Batchelor and Porsing with Musielak perhaps.
  20. Did you not see the front pages of the Speedway Star a few weeks ago. Risager has left the country due to Brexit and isn't the only one who won't be back. He said it wasn't financially worth staying over here for. Think Newman is a better replacement personally and is British. Could Risager beat Woffinden and Lindgren around Wolves. I would guess probably not.
  21. Yes that looks much better than the last side. Solid and strong at reserve
  22. Kaspar Gomolski 7.17 still looking to join an English side.
  23. Not to sure what to say about this team. Could either be amazing or overwhelmed. Possibly the latter. Perhaps Lambert and Kim Nilsson as heatleaders with 2 of Troy,Rory or Nicklas with Hefenbrock doesn't look too bad.
  24. I actually like what Swindon are doing with their lineup so far. Potentially signing 3 low averaged riders with the 4 signed makes them look weak on paper but they could make changes reasonably early and come strong at the finish like Wolves did last year. A few shrewd replacements is all it takes.
  25. I would guess maybe Branford, Morley or Connor Mountain wouldn't be a bad shout. He has improved vastly.
