Obviously a Poole supporter I guess after wanting Wolves to beat them in the semi which I am glad they did and also disgusted with the Andersen shenanigans that occured outside the rules. I like speedway and post on numerous threads and Premiership teams but have a soft spot for the underdog admittedly and will probably be keeping an eye out for Rye this year as they are full of British riders and lowest placed finishes out of all the 9 teams last season. Now please stop being so intelligent before the lava melts and get back to harrassing Poole fans and riders which is basically all you do on this forum except for the odd abuse to fellow posters in which you already had a vacation and I am sure. Have you actually considered just joining the actual Poole website forum and just doing it there. Would be easier wouldn't it for you to get your kicks. I am only being honest.

There is a big difference between 'freedom of speech' and constant forum bullying, threatening other members with violence and annoying the whole of the forum with a childish abusive attitude towards all. That is not the same as what I refer to as Martin Luther Kings 'freedom of speech' stands for. You shouldn't shout and bully someone because they don't share your viewpoint. In my opinion. Simple banning.

Compared to how many posts you make on the Poole thread. A little embarrassing wouldn't you say or you just like being an action junkie and Poole threads always seem to have the kind of action you crave.
-
Yes I knew that. Like I said more riders should follow there suit. Apologies if it came across wrong but it was late and I was tired. I do read the Speedway Star grasstrack section.

Thats one rider. Isn't he owned by Somerset so may ride for them or he may have already been signed by someone like Swindon or Rye House but just not announced?

Youngsters Ready For Premiership?
Joe Beevers replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You mean like Ellis, Clegg and Jacobs last season. I think all the young Brits last season improved and it was more riders like Watt, Batchelor and Schlein that struggled. When your young, your enthusiastic and excited about giving it a go. Then the confidence flows when you beat riders every week that your not expecting to beat. I believe the next young crop will be the same and I would be suprised if any Premiership reserve lost their place. Also financially we have to consider promoters pockets as we do not want speedway to end at clubs just because a couple of fans want a Johnny Foreigner on a 7 average rather than a gutsy young British rider on a 2. -
A vastly experienced squad I would say. Thought Max was now retired so swap him for Pedersen.
-
Personally think Poole have done well here as not Ellis Perks would have come in on a 2 and I think Shanes averaged more than him. As stated, I can't think from the top of my head any better 2 point average riders. Don't think the 2 Birmingham reserves averaged as much as Shanes even riding against lesser riders at reserves and I think all the riders above Shanes in the averages had ridden PL except of course for Ellis. A lot of quality young English riders have been helped and produced by grasstrack speedway such as Wigg, Loram, Screen and Harris and I wish more young riders like Ellis and Shanes would follow that trend as I think it definitely gives you a faster learning edge taking it onto shale.

Are you quite sure? He has your nickname in his name. He may support both.
-
Your not convinced he can again? Every year he does it and I can't remember the last time Poole were out the playoffs let alone the wooden spoon committee. Poole getting relegated would be like Arsenal getting relegated. Agree with the consensus of your first part of the post without the obscene profanities.

Not the most modest poster I have ever seen. The post above says that. You also call yourself 'Starman' which at first I thought that he is either a Kings Lynn fan or he is with Star Lady but appears to be neither.
-
Pedal bikes seem to get round quicker on the smaller tracks than the average to bigger tracks especially which is why his average is pretty high including is obvious reserve spell.
-
Interesting opinion. I still believe mine is the more honest. Do you not think breaking a rule is cheating intentionally or unintentionally? Personally I do. I would prefer an answer from the heart rather than the head.
-
Come on Pirates of Poole, you must believe that Poole have definitely exploited some loopholes and the other odd debacle. That said though, DizzAssStar is talking rubbish if he doesn't think other clubs have done it as well. Starting with his own team last year breaking the rules with the Hefenbrock fast track average positions and so forth.
-
What a ridiculous and pointless post Starman. You need to lighten as your as tight as a bow and an arrow.
-
That is a rather odd statement to make as you have no idea of what ideas he may or may not have come up for promoting speedway on a marketing or advertising when he was working close with the supposed men in charge. I think being fair, all E.L promoters in these AGM meetings would have had at least one idea to make the sport better in some way.

13 years on this forum, Gordon Bennett! You must have been bored as I am starting to get fed up with it already and yet to reach a year. I suppose it does have it's slight addictive moment at times.
-
Pure guess and no idea but sounds intriguing. Top 12 in any order Thorsell/Masters Starke/Auty Pedersen/Newman Ellis/Newman Holder/Ellis Zagar/S Worrall Fricke/Cook Jonsson/Kennett Iversen/Lambert Howarth/Clegg Kasprzak/Harris Nicholls/R Worrall

You seemed to have glossed over the majority of points, I have made in my last quite lengthy post. I think your slightly missing my point of you can advertise the life out of the product but that doesn't mean people will go. Most of the things you talked about are finacially unviable like hiring teams of professionals and pouring in money into marketing funds. I would guess 85% of teams today make a loss running a club so can really not afford to do this unlike your business. The biggest advertising in British League Speedway is Sky Sports and I think they do a reasonable job of TV adverts and showing club sponsorship and a lot of money comes from promotions attaining sponsorship and this is what is probably more needed to be marketable and advertised more than the fanbase because as I said before fans will be ifs and buts over cost, weather and a tiny portion over quality of product amd because the product is what I call Bullseyed. Advertise the sponsorship well and get the word out to more sponsors. I think that's what Poole do and why they are a popular club to sign for? They don't aim at the fanbase because it is pointless. Just the sponsorship. Why should they be given something when they get given free speedway all year round. For that small amount of work of track maintenance each week, it is saving them £500 a season unlike the many fans who pay to go and watch. The fans should be given at least a fireworks display or a free for kids by every club with the last match of the season. I don't think even football or this Pokemon fad could do double attendances. I know this debate could continue forever and we both agree to disagree but I would love you to prove me wrong and if you do suggest your ideas to club promotions, please let me know the outcome. If I am being honest how I see it, I am the realist and you are the optimist. -

It makes perfect sense. Ask 100 people in a survey who would want to go amd watch 4 men motorcycling round a dirt track for a) Free 5 pound or c) 15 pound. I bet nearly 100 would not even go for free as they have the gym to go to or a tv programme to watch or an internet to use. Why would anyone go and watch a minor motor sport unless it was a big event that was in a big stadium, big bands, big fireworks and a once a year 'day out' in the warm with a loud atmosphere hence the GP at Cardiff and usually that is general motor sport fans who go but recently it has stupidly coincided with a British MotoGP or an F1. You could advertise and market sushi to the over 80s of this country or advertise and market Barbara Streisand's music to all the people under 25 in this country and the fact is even listening to her music blasting on a radio in a youth club, still isn't going to get young people through paying 20 pound through the turnstiles (although irrelevant to the point I believe she charges $1000 to watch her live). Another point I make is speedway was at it's height of fan base probably from the 60s and 70s. Do you think they advertised the sport on every street corner back than. It worked because it was fashoinable. There were clubs in London and World Finals. It was cheap entertainment and good value for money and there was no internet or much else better to do on a night out. Nowadays I compare to Bullseye. It had great popularity back in the day but the it lost interest in the modern times and way of thinking and stepped aside for newer entertainment shows like the rubbish they show now. As I said before, if you had a speedway club, what would you do different that has been done to try to promote. I do agree that some promotions could try harder like others. -
Actually I think even Maugers 3 long track titles added to his speedway titles is still behind Gerd and Eriks long track titles. I think the Riss's win. Also Hans Nielsen and brother ice rider Jens Henry Nielsen and world titles for Kelvin Tatum and brother Neville.

To be fair this is a new club with a new promotion who have only just started but I totally agree with your points and I think your promotion need to listen to you. Perhaps financial wise they couldn't promote it and may have been naive to have taken such a big step to jump head first into the top league and were so worried about running the club in the first year that they forgot to advertise and market the sport in an area that is already filled with football, rugby, cricket and the minor sports you mentioned. I think anyone would struggle there but if it was my club, I would like to think I would have got the advertising and marketing basics in the area all done before I actually had started the team up. -
Be shocked if King wasn't as Kings Lynn as convenient for travel between there an Ipswich. Kenneth Bjerre would also be a suprise to be honest. Perhaps looking at riders like Fricke or Morris but with no Harris or Kasprzak and possibly King, I wonder who will be there number one. Kennett if he cannot squeeze in the Rye House heatleaders. Holder, I doubt and perhaps looking across the Midlands to see who they leave out such as Masters, Thorsell or even Jonas Kylmakorpi.
