The Premiership Cake Shop
Joe Beevers replied to BurntFaceMan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I fully disagree and the reason why is I may as well say the same reply to another poster so this has been copied and pasted. Posted 08 November 2016 - 08:57 AM wealdstone, on 06 Nov 2016 - 07:45 AM, said: I am at a loss to see what has been done that would encourage an increase in attendances To be fair, I think every promotion has tried something different from half prices offers, £1 entry, advertising at tourist information, advertising their own business with their own shop in shopping centres, getting children involved in extra events, free gifts, town advertisement boards, websites, leaflets, celebrity turn outs and still speedway has no formula of attracting people. Look at what's around. There is nothing that can be done. It is a minority sport and still I bet half the country don't even know what it is. It's a marmite sport. It is not in our society like it was in the 60s and 70s and those days are long gone. People have so much other choice on a Monday night such as other sports, using media or sitting round the box saving their hard earned. If anyone could come up with ideas to solve it, I am sure the promotions would pay you to get 3-4000 bum on seats every week. The only way I see it happening is a constant hefty admission drop but it is just not viable. Just an honest opinion. So as I have stated, please give the promoters what they could genuinely do to increase spectators and this post proves promotions have been trying because I have seen it with my own eyes around the country for the best part of 30-40 years. -
From reading the thread from the last ten pages, I think the team will be this except Todd Kurtz for Adrian Cyfer. I think the plan was probably to have Adam Ellis on a 5.60 having read the speedway star in at No 6 but the AGM dictated otherwise. This is just a guess opinion but it seems another strong looking side at home but may lack experience away from Wimborne Road.

The Premiership Cake Shop
Joe Beevers replied to BurntFaceMan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
British cakes went downhill and Polish cakes became so huge and famous it became there national sweet treat where being more a modern society decided to try different types of cake such as a Danish or a Stollen or were also watchful of their weight and looked for a more inexpensive but healthier option like an Alpro yoghurt or a cream cheese cracker. Basically British cakes cannot compete. -
As to you, who sits behind his keyboard heaping abuse at members on this forum continously which I would go as far to say 'online bullying'. I don't like bullies.

Well done to Rye on two excellent English signings. The only slight worry, I would have with signing both is they are so reliable that I think every team at least once or twice last year used either of them as a guest and they both do guest a lot for missing riders and injuries. Hopefully they uninjured and free of fatigue. Already looking like a team of track specialists at Monmore.

A worm? Is that because he digs up a lot of dirt? I have nothing personal against him it's just some of his posts are disagreeable bevause they are not always thought through.

Not specifically having a go at you but just this type of post in general. I get sick and tired of the amount of times, I have read this post. Yes fans pay their money and are entitled to moan and I get that. But when it's continually done to the point of that broken record playing, why can't they stop complaining and do something about it like 1) Investing their own finances and buying the club and than understanding the current financial side of speedway. 2) If this is unaffordable to the fan, put their money into sponsorship of a team, rider or the club to try and understand a bit of the basic financials it takes to run a speedway club 3) Volunteer your own personal time to do something productive in towards helping the club that you love. Create advertising, speak to businesses about sponsorship of your club and it's benefits, deliver speedway leaflets through your neighbourhoods doors. Basically if you get more fans, the product may improve thanks to sponsorship and increased fanbase. If your not going to bother doing anything, I suggest people put up or shut up (In the politest possible way).

The Premiership Cake Shop

The second director. There are a lot of casual followers in speedway and to keep them constantly coming is a challenge. They don't care about rules or rider strength. They care about how cold it is on a night out, if they can afford to take the kids or how the facilities and food are. Die hards will always go and if they don't, they wont. -
Oh come on Col, anyone can see if Watt replaced King in that side even Scunthorpe would probably have a field day. Coventry need Jonsson in my opinion. Hugh Skidmore is just the best speedway name any man could have been blessed with.
-
I was going to say Belle Vue need all the good home riders they can get and Jacobs was excellent at home last season at the reserve berth.
-
Didn't Steve Shovlar say in an earlier post that you have no young Poles riding for you. I don't know how true that is but he appears a man in the know as his sources have been right before. That would mean no Drabik. Probably no Hampel either I would guess.

King's Lynn Stars 2017
Joe Beevers replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Good looking team but surely Lynn would be crazy not to have Huckenbeck back on thst average. Should be the first signing in my book. -
I would have thought Zagar and Cook plus a Worrall. Then maybe a 2-3 point rider and possibly Joe Jacobs.
-
I understand it would be unfair for a 12 point capping if all the other riders except the three over 12 had the 1.4 multiple. The capping was only a suggestion but it isn't a good or fair one but that is stil needless to say that Doyle on a 13.7 doesn't look stupid. Perhaps a multiple of 1.1 or 1.2 would have been more acceptable but most the averages are fairish in the equation of riders from the Championship who could of course get promoted. Something tells me though and I am not sure if it is logic or just pure guesswork that teams being promoted may have a slightly better chance of doing well than the teams already in the Premiership. Riders like Kyle Newman obviously prefer the tracks in the top league where it is more of a lottery to set the bike up when you go to tracks like Peterborough, Sheffield, Somerset, Plymouth and so on where as apart from Lakeside who have departed and perhaps I would say most the tracks in the top league are all pretty fair.
-
But the problem is I read somewhere that Hans Andersen and possibly Gomolski were promised to be in the 2017 team. If those promises were made, that leaves you with possibly no Chris Holder and no Adam Ellis I am guessing. To be honest, I don't really care what the lineup is, but I just found the majority of your opinions to be factually incorrect and biased. Poole know more than you and I do, so we need should leave it at that. But in all the years having followed speedway, it does look stupid having a 13.70 average. And as I said before even Mauger would have struggled to maintain that average. The league isn't that much weaker than last year. A lot of riders won't hit their averages in my opinion and changes under a possible different average format may take place although obviously there is no guarantee but only going on hearsay of a recent post mentioned in the Somerset thread.
-
Opinions can be rude, slanderous and hurtful and sometimes silence is golden.
-
So back up your opinions with your stats than sir. Being honest to yourself and bearing in mind the averages, who would you have left out of your own team if you were building your own team and had to use riders from 7-8 average but of: Ellis 7.8 Kurtz 7.65 Holder 7.14 I respect they are your opinions but in my unbiased opinion they don't seem sensible. I haven't seen you post much on any of the teams threads like I have, so I cannot comment on your other opinions for other teams although to be fair not many teams have named riders. I think everyone thinks Holder's average is high. Even Mauger in his prime would have found that average tough to have maintained. Jason Doyle's is the worst however and is just speedway being ridiculous. My opinion is that the averages should have been capped at 12 as points wise it makes no sense or do you not agree in your opinion?
-
Perhaps I was a little over the top but there was just so much wrong with the post, I just didn't know if he actually could make a post of fact or if he just didn't know what was what. I think from posts the other day I read from his, he did seem to want to backtrack to Adam's father and perhaps suck up was a bit strong so apologies for that.
-
So your first point is saying how daft the Poole promotion are for not signing a rider. Over the years that promotion has picked up multiple trophies by getting riders in on bargain averages such as foreigners on 4 points and riders like Ellis on a 3. Do you really think they are daft. Do you have any honesty and unbiased opinions? Didn't Ellis admit himself he hadn't had many calls. Back to my point about the Eastbourne Birmingham last match so how can he be the most in demand Brit when Blackburn is on a 2 average. I genuinely think your trying to suck back up to Ellis's father after your original comments. Not sure if you know this but the top rider in the world is Greg Hancock and best young Brit in my opinion is Robert Lambert having rode for the WTC team although Josh Bates won it on his home track. It has also already been stated Hans might not be number 1. Do you read these topics?
-
A few posts stating Williamson in the team. Has he signed or more hearsay rumours. Good rider on the right track. I don't think Clegg and Williamson would be that weak with a strong 5.
-
I was replying to your post to Steve Shovlar that Hans Andersen is going to be a great backup heatleader for someone. Wasn't Mr Shovlar implying that there is someone better who is going to sign than Hans. That's how I read both posts.
-
I was going to say there isn't much else out there who could be signed who is better than Hans. Woffinden surely not? Hancock very unlikely? A very good Russian is more unlikely? Lindback possibly? Kasprzak even more likely with Jonsson at Coventry. Lindgren probably be at Wolves. Harris would be a suprise. Hampel would be a bigger suprise but needs the rides again so a small maybe. Zmarzlik will be too busy. A Pawlicki brother probably even busier. Not many more options than that of riders better than Andersen.
-
Really sad if a place as big as Plymouth can't find an investor or a support to move the club out of administration. I wish Plymouth and any clubs that take the jump would maybe try their hand in the lowest league first and then see how they financially stand or even the development league would have been substantial to take time to build up a decent fan base in the area and than move up.
-
David Bellego has a reasonable average and wonder if he will double up this year. Still no news on Havelock and this consortium being the promotion, I am guessing. Is Brian involved also?
-
It feels like a scream because you know those arguments you have with your wife or boss or perhaps both as one, where you state the same pointless guess and because you don't agree it gets louder and louder just so you can get your point across. That's what it felt like to me when reading the posts. You have just highlighted my point of the Oh no he won't and Oh yes he will argument in your postings. It's not really a debate if your not using facts. You can state past history and averages to the cows come home but you are still guessing that he will or won't get the average, so that was the reason I posted to state I found your post funny when you stated you were having an intellectual debate. Each to their own with sense of humour.
