Makes me laugh. Hawkins has just explained why Manzares shouldn't get a permit. He's basically taking Ellis' team place.

So is Adam Ellis but he doesnt have a PL place. How is that fair? -
I'm talking in all sports. WADA police all sports.

Based on previous cases - 18 months seems to be the deal if found guilty of a first offence and pleased not guilty. Admit your guilt and you get 12 months. I guess in Darcys case, 12 or 18 months, its the same as that other 6 months is mostly off season - and he's not likely to want to bother coming back in August.

If there enough evidence to give him a suspended sentence he'll get an 18 month suspension. It's either 18 months or nothing.

Exactly. And Billy Janniro. Two of my favourite riders. Two riders I'd still pay good money to see. But both left debts when they ended their careers and there a string of others who have done exactly the same. Imagine it was a Somalian builder who had done the same? The little Englanders would be calling for bans on all Somalian builders! -
The issue isn't the rider that are in the wrong. It's the employers (the promoters). Most of the riders meet the criteria to be over here and to earn a living as a speedway rider.

She was over on a spouse visa. When Mick Horton bought Coventry Ryan had to re-apply for a new visa (and apparently did) but Ryans wife didn't change hers (probably as she wasn't employer by Sandhu/Horton so didn't think it relevant). It was only after she tried to enter the country later in the year that she found out she should have changed her visa. So it is easy enough to make a genuine mistake. Ryan and his wifes got her banned from the UK for a year. So if any members of the BSPA have been breaking the rules then fi the worst that happens is a few rider are late getting a visa I think we can all consider the BSPA/individual promoters very lucky! Wolves had a Conference League team in 2003. He rode for them.
-
He rode NL and come in on a 3. If he needed a work permit that wouldn't have been possible. Apart from a season or two around about 2008 when each NL team was allowed one work permit rider each (allowing Dyer, Ward, Tregonin, Jones,Sedgemen etc to ride NL), work permit riders have not been allowed in the NL. So I'm pretty certain on this one.
-
He doesn't need a permit. Thats the point. Doesn't matter. Not relevant.

If you listen to the crowd at Cardiff there is a suggestion that Nicki Pedersen have been doing it for 15 years

Honestly, do people read whats going no before they launch into rants? What makes you think they're "paying into the system"? And so what if they are, Mason Campton has been here 2 years "paying into the system" but while he's "paying in" some British riders have been on the dole. Get rid of Campton and co and the Brits have jobs. All the UKV&I are asking here is that speedway clubs follow the rules that you expect all others to follow. Imagine this was "Mr Wongs Chinese chip shop", would you be having the same rant then? Or is it only because it's a sport you follow? Speedway clubs have been breaking the law FFS! And what about the speedway riders who go home without paying tax? And leaving debts over here? Why do you think some foreigners have a year or two over here and then disappear fro the UK? They owe people (including the tax man) money! -
Doesn't make sense. He rode NL so doesn't need a permit. I think someone is making things up.
-
Matt Wethers must have GB parentage too. As he come in on a 3 and rode NL.

The issue is that some clubs have employers riders incorrectly (so probably, technically, illegally) even where it was possible to employ them correctly at times. They have also allowed riders to double up "illegally" and take guest bookings. There are a number of things that as an employer of a work permit person an employer must do/provide and must clubs have not done that. -

All you seem to have done in your last few posts is agree with myself and BWitcher and disagree with Tsunami British Speedway at EL and PL level is and has been for a long time full of a multitude of nationalities - many of whom are great for British speedway (thought IMO theres more than a few who add very little). Speedway is NOT treated harshly and not getting any mucky end of the stick when it comes to visas as other sports have been found out in the past or stick to them already employing less foreigners (work permits or not). Before we bemoan how bad we have it compared to other sports, as some have done. They should maybe do a little research as BWitcher and I did and you have done now. Then we realise as a sport, we don't get a bad deal (depending on your idea of good/bad - I'm still not sure the likes of Mason Campton having a 3rd season is "good" for GB speedway) -
Thats not the golden ticket some think it is. Alex Davies was born in Northampton but he was still considered Australian and couldn't get a passport or a work permit. Residency is his best bet. Something like has lived here for 5 years and spent no more than x weeks out of the country in that time. Might work for him. I'm sure thats what Wells and Watt have done.
-
No. Not sure why. When he first come over he signed for Edinburgh on a 3. So he must have GB family.

Tsunami stated (and I'm paraphrasing here) that the lower football leagues were full of 3rd rate foreigners. Bwitcher has proved that not to be the case. I'd also argue that with ENglish football having the PL, Championship, Lg1, Lg2, the Conference, Conf Nth and Conf South that in speedway terms the EL is the PL and Champinoship while Leagues 1 and 2 are the Premier League. Making the Conference and below out NL. The point stands that footballers trying to get work permits have a damn hard time and frankly, you don't get many foreigners in league 1 and 2. Surely you can see that that the governments statement from here "you’re an elite sportsperson or qualified coach recognised by your sport’s governing body as internationally established at the highest level" and "your employment will develop your sport in the UK at the highest level" don't apply to young, still learning PL second strings? It's pushing it for any PL rider as the higher level is the EL. So before we start moaning we're hard done by, we need to look at what the UKV&I expect and what other sports get. -
I like the look of the lad in blue (Brody Eves?). Has a lovely style. How old is he?
-
Agreed. It some serious blister for Dugard. This team is more likely to win a woodenspoon than a league title :s
-
Lets assume it had - would someone else now be pocketing 20% of any Sky deal instead of Terry? What is different?

The funny thing with this statement is that a few speedway HAVE been "illegal" in recent years. -

While I'd never claim Wikipedia is 100% fact - I'd certainly claims it's more accurate (by a long way) that Tsunamis estimates and guesses It's also a pretty good start point. -
Elite - A select group Premier - The best or most important Neither is quite right. But the Premier League is an all out lie! But take a look at any sports league, anywhere in the World. It's always about bluffing as to how good it is! in most American Leagues they compete to be World Champions!
