It has had a LOT to do with work permits. It's one of the scams they have been running. Take a work permit rider on loan and rather than pay for a sponsor license yourself as his employer just employ him on his parent clubs license, despite the fact they don't employ him! Marvellous idea but it seems to have upset the UKV&I

What The Visa Issues Could Mean For Teams.

Nobody wants 22 Australians and Americans kicked out. If they're of a reasonable standard they can, and should stay. What is not wanted is for the Aussies, Americans and any other country from sending over there crap and waste of space so they become our problem. We're talking half a dozen (ish) riders who shouldn't be here and cannot be justified. If kicking out Campton, Wethers, Poole and a few others really does make teams "less attractive" then I suggest promoters take a long hard look at their product, it's clearly a little bit rubbish. -
Work permit riders cannot double up. Thats been quite clearly established now I think.
-
Pre-judging? None of these riders have just appeared from nowhere. They ahve all raced somewhere before and people have seen them before to be able to judge them based on past performances. If it really was impossible to judge then all teams could be randomly selected out of a hat and the points limit would be pointless.

I was a Crump fan but TRick had Crumps card marked. TRick really was something special, the guy was a machine. Only seen Mauger in video so it's not fair for me to judge him as I did see him every few weeks like I did Rickardsson but Rickardsson is easily the best rider I have seen in my 30 years, by a long way. Crump must hate the fact he rode when Tony was around as if he'd been 10 years older (or younger) he could have had a couple more titles IMO. -

But you do realise that if they are doing a job, 1 less Brit has a job and has to claim benefits. So they don't make a positive contribution. -
There are 3 leagues in British speedway, thus anyone with an average in the lower half of the PL (so less than 6) is basically below average. In football there are 4 professional leagues, so anyone playing league league 1 or 2 is below average. So Mason Campton is comparable to a league 1 footballer at best. How many League 1 players have work permits? in fact, how many foreignors (of any nationality) play in league 1 or 2? Comparing Premierships teams star players you're looking at the likes of Doyle, Holder and Batchelor. Not Mason Campton FFS!
-
Yeah, thats comparable. Because them top class guys can come in to ride a GP then Mason Campton and Taylor Poole should get team places. When Campton and Poole make the GPs (in fact, long before that TBF - just top 4 in a state final!) they will be allowed work permit.
-
Mark wasn't Maltesse. Just because you're born in a country doesn't make you that nationality. Alex Davies and Jason Crump were born in the UK but both were Australian
-
Truminski and Rajowski were Newport. Shane Colvin was Readings. I doubt any of them matter any more. Wolves bought Wells. Scunny bought David Howe. Newport bought Craig Watson. Workington bought Howarth Matek Mroz also newport a.

The Glasgow promotion described themselves as the Man City of speedway when they took over. It was in your local paper because I laughed that when Man City were taken over nobody said, "We'll join league one, the average league in the football structure" http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/motor-sports/glasgow-tigers-investors-ready-make-4891853 Sarj is owned by Coventry so he'll not miss any meetings. And Both of Kings Lynns rode for Newcastle last season.

Which IMO is an argument for how good he is. He can adapt to suit the machinery when others couldn't. I think it's more a case of TRick and Crump had gone and Nicki just isn't what he was, too many injuries -but, there is another point, TRick retired due to injury, Crump said he couldn't take any more injuries, Nicki has had a few nasty injuries but Greg, he's still going! -

Kurtz has British parentage and doesn't need a work permit. Proctor averaged over 4 in the EL. I'd say Poole is certainly in a dodgy position, as is Manzares. The rest could have arguments under appeal or apparently dont need permits -
Being born here didn't help Alex last year did it? Being born in the UK after 1983 is irrelevant - pre-83 he'd have been ok.

But Rohan has not changed clubs. So he did/does have a 3 year visa. Ryan Fisher changes clubs so he can't possibly have a 3 year visa, as soon as his employment with Coventry (or Peterbourgh) was ended his visa ended - or at least it should have done. But they never did, riders and clubs transferred them, which they should not have done. It seems you don't know what you know... If Plymouth have never had a sponsor license how the hell did they try and get a visa for Alex Davies?! d'oh! A good liar remembers his lies. -
His tweet says, "Find it very unfair i have been punished by @SpeedwayGB because BSPA cant follow rules, not me. Why should i be punished for there wrong ?". Does he not realise that one of the rules they have been breaking is letting in poor reserve standard riders like him?
-
If he's not met the criteria then he's not met the criteria and so should be allowed to work permit.

I don't think I disagree with that but Greg would be towards the bottom of the list I think. Any other 3+ times winner probably has more podium/was a greater threat. Even some of Gregs 3rd places, he was never really a threat to the eventual winner was he? Now I know thats not fair as a Gp series vs a one-off makes it hard to say if someone was a real threat or not. -
If he was breathalysed twice at the track then thats an A and B sample.

Thats certainly a positive bit if news. Not sure I agree with the creep in the rules, it seems that for years it's been getting easier. While myself and najjer may not have been right, it seems we're not the only ones, we wouldn't be discussing this if the promoters had been getting it right all these years -
I've said for years, my biggest issue with the speedway star is most of it is just them printing the BSPA (either as a collective or individuals) propaganda. There no investigation, there no finding out the truth, there no asking of questions. It's a shame because when the Star does write some of it's articles they're a great read. The Garry Stead article from a few months back is one I think every speedway fan should be made to read - a few of us commented on how it brought us close to tears reading about the experiences of Garry and his poor mum and dad. So they can do it.

Make it 8th to 13th then, thats even worse. Twice is years. Notice "years" in that sentence? Make it 6th to 13th and it's a few times. Ok maybe I was harsh, he actually does have a slightly better record than I remember. It's probably made worse as Crump, TRick and Nicki went years winning what must have been about about 80% of GPs between them (I've probably seriously over estimated this!) -

Interesting about Plymouth never having had a licence and Fishers 3 year visa. Ties in with another rumour. Clubs who were employing riders on the riders parents clubs licence but obviously this is not allowed as it's not the parent club employing them. Fishers 3 year visa means nothing as he changed clubs, he had a 3 year visa for Coventry or Peterborough. Also, I'm guessing the Alex Davies issue come about as they tried to employ him on Somerset licence despite him being on loan to Plymouth who were going to employ him. Of all those riders who DIDNT get visas last year, were any of them due to be employed by their parent club? Was the real issue that they were trying to get them visas by the back door using ANOTHER clubs (thus another companies!) license? -
Should have raced in a state final. Little sympathy for me as both have raced over here in the past when they shouldn't have done (certainly on averages they shouldn't have done) so they have already had to the good fortune, this is just balancing it out.

My issue with including Hancock in an all times greats is he couldn't do with when TRick and Crump were around could he? Is it's he's peaked late or just that 2 genuine all time greats have gone now? You could probably even include Nicki in the "2 all time greats" and make it 3. Don't forget that while those 3 were at their best he was bumming around in 8-12th in the GP standings for years - not the numbers of an all time great. Exciting, no, never. But able to watch, appreciate and respect? Certainly so. I've said before, if I was going to be a speedway rider I'd do it the Hancock way as it must be easier, it's less dangerous so you have less chance of injury and you can go on longer.
