Did you see a good meeting? If you did it was worth the price. If you didnth then it wasn't, possibly. Why does it bother you if the track is slick, grippy, rutted, big small, clay, dusty, watered or dry if the racing is good? Are you telling me you'd prefer to see a perfectly safe and smooth track over a race track that you could pass on? give me a slightly dodgy track so you can sort the men form the boys and see the rider really use their skill.

TBF, why would they promote the British GP in Cardiff over in Essex/Sussex? they don't advertise events at Wembly in Cardiff so why dot he oppisite? you have to be realistic, you're either getting speedway fans (so advertise in the Star and club programmes) or you're dragging in the locals. People are not going to travel 2-3 hours for some sport they know nothing about off the back of a poster in a bus stop in Essex or an advert during Coronation Street are they? Yet someone living in Cardiff might give it a go. You say you have seen no advertising for the GP over that way but, without looking, could you tell me any of the next 10 events to take place in the Millennium Stadium?

How Physically Fit Do You Have To Be To Ride Speedway
SCB replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
As mentioned, go to Scunthrorpe and you realise how hard it is as slow speed on a small track. I can only imagine it's really hard work on track. But 1500 calories in a meeting? No chance. The riders who are riding 4 or 5 meetings in a week wold be wasting away. -
We must be freak then

So as I said, the weather was as predicted/forecast. So no excuse there. And it turns out reading Philip Risings post it was NOT the issue. Mind you, it cuold be they tried that as the official line but when pointed out by a local it was bollocks they had to change the official line, maybe? Yet we've been told later int eh thread by FTM that the shale was left outside. The outside area of Newport Docks is hardly an "environmentally controlled facility" - someone has cocked up, admittedly if it was meant to be in such a facility but wasn't, it might not be BSI in the first instance but when the shale turned up soaking wet why not fix the issue then? That was my first thought too, but I can certainly see why the ref excluded Lindgren and Woffy does move off his line awfully quick suggesting he did take a knock. Cook was sensible. The track had ruts he didnt knwo where they were. In a league meeting the rusts wold appear through a meeting and he goes out every few heats and sees them, he was going out with them already there and so couldn't risk riding into one and crashing. I thought he rode with his head and hopefully enjoyed getting a couple of rides. I can't believe pessimistic me enjoyed yesterday while everyone else seemed to hate it Maybe as I went in expecting a slick track that was going to break up as the meeting went on I wasn't disappointed when it happened. I sat with a speedway virgin, he'd watch a bit of speedway on tele but that was it, he enjoyed the meeting and the build up before hand even if he had bet on Lindback. He got into it and was cheering for Bomber and Woffy as much as anyone and despite having a few ££ on Nicki was happy to go alone with the booing of him Interesting that he was a first timer and eh enjoyed ti and Adam above mentioned his first timer enjoyed it but the regulars are all moaning - no it wasn't a classic but it wasn't that bad.

Teams Looking For New Riders! - From Where Exactly?
SCB replied to Brough Diamond's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Frampton, Complins, Sweetman and Compton have all retired. holde ris no great loss, he's a 4 point reserve. And Stichauer is hardly a loss but there will always be riders who miss out, there always have been and always will. But didnt he retire and is now trying to make a come back? He can't expect to walk back into a team. If he's seruous about wanting to come back someone will pick him up soon, I'm sure. -
Regarding Cardiff, I assure you the meeting is promoted here. They had the advert on in the advert break of Coronation Street in the Wales region as well as other programmes in the last 2 weeks, the meeting has been advertised on banners on the street lights in the city centre, on bus stops. There have been leaflets in the bay. Friends have mentioned to me that the speedway is taking place this weekend just gone so people are aware but lets be honest, what put them off is the £30 for a ticket - it's a lot of money. I honestly don't know how much more they could do to advertise it really. you cant make the media want to print/film stories. They already use social media well for the GP series.

I've spent the last 2-3 weeks driving around with the roof down on the car. Cardiff had been generally dry and warm. The exception being a bit of quite light drizzle on Wednesday evening, even that had stopped by chucking out time from the pub as I walked home and stayed dry. I can't speak for further away do if the shale was stired 100 miles away it may have come through rain to get here.

As someone who lives in Cardiff, that's bollocks. Wet my backside. The forecast has been pretty much spot on so no excuses. I live less than a mile from the stadium, you're talking b0110cks. Weather had been as predicted this week, better of anything.
-
There are 100's of pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants within a few minutes walking of the stadium, you dont need to go into the stadium to eat or drink.

Oh, I see the countdown is now counting down to midnight now!
-
Bit of advice. If you're going to have a website without a countdown to launch, actually launch the site when the countdown hits 0. Doesn't exactly give a good first impression.

It can and does happen and the rules allow for it. It happened on Sky once, Andy Moore riding for Eastbourne at BV swerved across someone coming out of the second bend and was excluded. Also saw it happen twice at Newport - on time it wasn't remotely unfair and the rider who was apparently wronged, is captain and team manager all told the referee and confirmed as much - the referee was Margret Vardy who at the time was bloody awful.
-
But the tracks will sweat! I don't know about you but I find that I don't get as wet when I sweat as I do in the shower, so track covers must be an improvement.
-
Crap seat? You are aware theres no such thing. And last year I paid about £20 to sit on the front of the top tier over looking the star finish line. I had a wonderful view

Who the hell buys a £45 ticket? They have them for sale for about £30 And why would I give you anything like £45 when I can buy a ticket of a tout for £15?

Surely no Brits being out of the job shows Brits are being given a chance? -
A tout outside the stadium. Or we could cut out the middle man and I'll give you the £10 I'm going to give a tout at 4.30 on Saturday. Adam, theres a ticket office 2 minutes from the Prince of Wales (just look at the stadium from the POW, walk up that road and look to your right you can't miss it)

Nobody has signed Lubos Tomicek yet and it's June next week so there must be plenty of options out there. Nobody has signed Lubos Tomicek yet and it's June next week so there must be plenty of options out there. -
you get great customer service off the touts outside the stadium at 4pm

Skybet are offering 8/1 on Worrall to win heat 2. I'd back a blind man at 8/1 to win a one off race.

Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)

Rye were under strength as they didnt replace him. Nelson didn't get a fine. -
Could A Barry Hearn Type Be Good For Speedway?
SCB replied to msc1874's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
When Hearne has got involved in team sport what has he achieved? I don't see Leyton Orient being held up as some sort of example in the World of football. Let him stick to his niche, pub games. -

Nelson was banned, he didn't miss the meeting. Jeeze, you're suggesting if a rider get a ban, he then gets a ban for missing the meeting he is banned from. do you see whats coming next? He'd get a ban for missing the next meeting he was banned form and then what? Banned again for missing the meeting eh was banned from for missing a meeting he was banned form for missing a meeting he was banned from. You can't possibly get a ban for missing a meeting you were banned from, that more stupid than the suggestion Lindgren can double up despite not meeting the criteria. -
Millenium Stadium Cardiff
SCB replied to stevebebee's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not sure that rules counts at Cardiff! The park and ride from County Hall is probably best. There will be plenty of signs telling you where to go as you head into Cardiff, just follow them.
