Gillman Speedway Opening Night
SCB replied to AX Racing Team's topic in International World of Speedway
So we're not having another crap team then? Hallalujah! Great news to hear Nigel is back on a bike, he's one of my favourites. -
Lets hope his Swedish team buy him a bike (and not one off a team mate that was going to be used until he was good enough to agree to him having it before the ungrateful twerp called it a "training bike" or a fully tuned never bene used GM) and mobile and clearly a rattle and dummy.
-
That I can't argue with and I have not, try reading my posts. The people who have seen CAN compare but it's no good coming up with the naff arguement of stats on this one and thats comming from someone who lieks to use stats as much as possible. BTW, I have seen videos
-
But could it have been that there were 10 who could have won the title then as there were not 2 stand out men (like Nielsen and Gundersen) to make it a 2 horse (man) race (title)?
-
Does that not suggest that because I have disagreed with it I am wrong? The suggestion of messing about with the points awarded for a win and a loss has been brought up many times so I have thought about it MANY times, I now know what I think and that is that it's simply a waste of time. Do you really think an extra league point will make a team ride better? After all, they're all paid per point anyway so all riders are always going to try hard for the sake of their wage packet. Very few riders give a damn about their team, due to the constant chopping an changing, I could probably list about a dozen riders who genuinly care about their team for this to work while the rest just want to make a few quid. So giving points for losing(better? ) doesn't add anything but makes the sport look stupid when Sky are telling people, "oh, they only lost by 10 so they get a league point and qualify for the play-offs". What happens when a meeting is rained off? BTW, An Englishman telling a Welshman he should learn to spell, thats a bit hypocritical after what the English did the the Welsh lanaguage with their poor spelling!
-
Which proves what? There were more good riders in the earlier era and more naff riders but maybe no great one where as in the later era there were 2 exceptional talents and maybe hundreds of great talents?! You CANNOT compare two eras!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT CANT BE DONE! Whats better? Bannanas or Beans?
-
So you can post for discussion and it's ok for 2 people to agree with you but wrong for someone to disagree with you? I suggest you find out what "discussion" is!! I still maintain that points for lossing a joke this is a spot not a "lets make everyone feel happy" organisation. TBH, I think things are ok as they are, 2 for a win, 1 for a draw and 1 for a bonus point, why mess about with it? What is actually wrong with it? This is a speedway thing, "lets play with the rules". Why? The sport is dying and people prefer to discuss green helmets and the points scored by the different teams rather than how we can sort the sport out, people wnat to sit around and say how great the sport is and when someone says something negative they get slagged off for it but the sport IS dying, lets be critial and sort that out, not stick our head in the sand and discuss how many point a team gets for wining awya from home!
-
How can you get points yet not win a meeting?! Cricket is a stupid sport if thats the case. How can you go home happy that you've lost? What an anti-climax. How about, 2 points for a home win and 3 points for an away win, 1 point for a home draw and 2 points for an away draw and a simple 0 points for lossing!

When I went to watch the Cardiff Devils a few years ago when they had there "2nd rate" team (bearing in mind that all UK clubs are 2nd rate to US/Canada so we're talking the players who in the Us/Canada would not even be looked at) and it had 2 Brits (both Welsh) and a load of Canadians in it. From my breif view of GB ice hockey I'd be prone to say that there's a greater % of foreignors in the ice hockey that there are in the the speedway leagues!!

An even cheaper way is to try ebay.

time for the english grand prix...
SCB replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Strickly speaking thats all of Wales. -
Who's to say that if you transported Crunp, Adams, Pedersen and Trick back to the Mauger era that they would not have all beat him out of sight? ow do we not know that Mauiger didn't have it easy as all his challangers while good, were not of the same standard as the guys TRick has had to beat? Or the other way around, Mauger may have won every GP series ever if he had been around now. You simply CANNOT compare era's, it's not possible, never will be either. At the end of the day Mauger has the most world titles, Trick second best (I'd love to see hm take a couple more, just so I have something to tell the grand kids!). One thing I do seem to remember, about 3 years ago, during a meeting in Aus, Phil Crump and Ivan Mauger had 3 match races, the first match race was the fasterest time of the night, then the othet guy won the the 2nd one in what become the fastest time of the night and then the guy who won the first one (I think it was Mauger, Crump, Mauger) won the 3rd in what was the fastest time of the night. Them 3 times remained the fastest 3 times of the night. Maybe I have got it wrong (I don't think so though) but if I have not, it does seem to suggest the guys of the "good ol' days" were better than the modern guys.

Ok, I have an idea to keep the Welsh and English happy (can you do such a thing?! ). How about, a Welsh and English GP?! We can always have a Scottish Gp and a Berwick GP as well. Great Britain having 4 GP's eh?! Sounds good to me -

Why not a Welsh GP?! I had to say it!! Personally, I think it's a great idea. -
Could be him then, rather than the Speedway one. I was told about him being at the Millenium Stadium so when I saw him on Sky put 2+2 together. Would make more sense for it to be the other one though and not the speedway one.
-
Agreed. I took someone along in the first year and he has gone very year since (the git won't come to Newport though, he's been a couple of times and says it's the atmosphere he likes!!).
-
IoW Glenn Phillips still does a lot of moto-x. He was on Sky a few months back and aparently he competed in the Jeremy McGraph Farewell World Tour event at the Millenium Stadium last Novemeber.

World Team Cup??
SCB replied to ha en bra födelsedag's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Prehaps BSI have finally realised you can't mess with the fundamentals of speedway and they have realised that things were good enough before they come along?! That the GP's and the WTC thats going back to how it was now! -
I don't think we could have got our tickets ny later either, could we?! Finish drink, run to ticket office, run to stadium and see the introduction of riders. Perfect timing Now thats a hint if ever I heard one!!!
-
That was what I was getting at. I think a few of us have at some point come up with some very good idea that would either a) not cost money or b ) save money so I'm sure some promoter out there must be considering them. Well if a few of us could go through picking out the better suggestions, it would help the BSPA as they'd only have to look at the one thread.
-
Or you could learn Polish you lazy person! I'm guessing Waspie knows exactly how good Marek Wojackeks grasp of the English language is, having had to work with him at Cardiff.
-
I did say that I agree it should be allowed but my point was the Polish referee's were wrong to exclude the riders after the 2nd bend and whoever didnt exclude Nicki Pedersen was wrong.
-
You CANNOT have all 4 back after the start, all 4 back is the term that has bene given to an unsatisfactory start, when does the start finish? To me it on the entrance to the 1st bend, never should it be all 4back after the apex of the 1st and second bend according to the rules, although I do agree that it should be allowed, sadly a referee does not have the power to do so. I can' work out how a referee let Nicki Pedersen back in that heat when he wiped out Hancock, that was never unsatisfactory starting!! Looking back I agree but I had not notice that it was a Polish/GB ref thing but yes, it does seem to be.
-
No, it's still October I'm not sure, it might be, I'm starting to think it is now. The BSPA are already having mini-meetings anyway, a few promoters have said so or hinted at it in the Speedway Star, so I can't imagine it too long before they have there main meeting. While they're having there pre-AGM meetings I think we should all start comming up with ideas, we all know thats there's a couple of manager/promoters on this forum (some who don't post!) and they might read something they like.

That was what I was getting at. I just can't see Tony running around as the life and soul of a party, mainly due to his professionalism.
