Teesside Silver Helmet - Thursday
slyfox replied to Norfolk Bear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Great write up thanks for the info ahead of Thursdays meeting. Fancied either Ben Barker or Scott Nicholls from the line up. However with Ben having a wrist injury and maybe not riding It may have to be Scott. -
Sheffield V Ipswich, Sheffield V Redcar
slyfox replied to Blackadder's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Looks like the cut off is 18th as Edinburgh and Redcar media are quoting that. Which would mean Redcar would get all their meetings in (barring rain off's) and Edinburgh and Glasgow would not as it stands. -
Punishment pending? I thought Ged had had his promoters licence suspended as punishment.

Sheffield V Ipswich, Sheffield V Redcar
slyfox replied to Blackadder's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I understand 17th is the cut of for the play offs. Wonder if this will be allowed to count if Redcar are still in with a chance of catching Edinburgh. -
Would have thought he would have been allowed to ride if he made it back. As far as a guest would depend on the interpretation of the called off meeting counting or not. Noticed Scott Nichols is riding for Holder at Peterborough today as Holder rode in The under 21's last night but I assume was not committed to a Polish meeting today so that would allow a guest under the 24 hour rule. However Ellis Perks is riding tonight and he rode in the under 21's. Tero Arnio was originally booked as a guest for him but as Ellis rode on borrowed bikes over there he is flying back to make the meeting tonight. Gets complicated does it not

Yes agree but you cannot say that this meeting was arranged till you know which teams are in the play offs. Recon George did not offer Redcar this date till it was sure that Lambert was wanted today (which would have been 2 weeks ago). Wonder how much it was worth to Newcastle to ensure Lambert was ok to ride in Poland. Rumor is that Peterborough got a five figure sum for allowing Holder to miss the 4's. Still got the Redcar meeting from 6th Aug to rearrange. Both clubs are free on 17th Sept (the last day for the play off cut off) Redcar will be desperate to have the meeting by then now they are in a play off position. Will we have to wait o see if Lambert has a Polish meeting confirmed on that day before Redcar can be offered that date.
-
This meeting is a rearranged meeting from way back on 7th May. This date has been available all season. Why was it left until 2 weeks ago to set this date. Makes you wonder is this scenario just to stop Newcastle getting into the same position as Ged Rathbone at Peterborough. Looks like they have left it that late so that the European authorities can say the the Polish play off meeting takes priority as it was in the diary first. Thereby stopping George having his Licence suspended like Ged. Even so the BSPA do not allow a facility in this situation only a NL guest. Having said that Josh is not in a NL team so is he technically eligible to ride.

Jack Holder And The (lack Of A) 9 Month Ban
slyfox replied to SCB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Something is afoot. Why was Ged at Redcar on Thursday in the crowd when his team were riding at Ipswich. Is he already under some form of ban??? -
Well if its only just over a week ago its a bit much, the end of July and we are at this late stage being offered dates for a meeting that was called off on 7th May just because Newcastle United has a lunch time home football match. If the offer of new dates is that recent the Bears management are probably waiting for replies from their riders re availability.
-
I am a Redcar fan and our management are saying they have not been offered any dates.
-
8 points away to Newcastle would put Redcar back in contention again for the play offs especially as they still have Sheffield one of the teams they need to catch 3 times yet (twice at home) so don't write them off now they are back to full strength. Dont think Redcar would want to ride both meetings on the same night. Redcar have been messed about by Newcastle with no dates yet for either their A or B away meetings. Come on George get your finger out.

Peterbrough V Redcar Sunday. Ch
slyfox replied to RedcarB123's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well that's Geds side of the story. Which is the opposite of what Redcar fans were told on Thursday night at their home meeting by their own promoter and also the opposite of what promoter Kevin Keay and team manager Jitendra Duffull state in the local Teesside paper on Saturday night. No doubt the Redcar promotion will now make a statement if they still disagree with Ged. -

I will but just to point out it was you that was looking backwards this time to Ben's non appearance at Glasgow -

Think he already has had a word. Apparently Ben was "sick" just like Ulrich was when he missed his flight and did not turn up at Redcar on the 8th June. May be in 5th place but we still have Sheffield 3 times with 2 of them at home so plenty of mileage yet. -

So was the rule on the Glasgow meeting that went against The Bears but Mr Vatcher chose to overturn his own decision and ignore the rule book and past precedent. So when they told The Bears management that Charles had to be checked by the meeting medic the rule book did not seem to apply again. -

So common sense has prevailed. If that is the rule why was Wright told he had to prove he was fit to the Peterborough medic and not given the option to get clearance from his own doctor. As I said earlier BSPA seem to be making rules up just for Redcar this season. -

Nothing to do with it being Sunday, Redcar were informed on Wednesday of the reversal of the Monday decision that he was clear to ride & that Charles had to wait till Sunday to be checked by the opposition team medic. They were not allowed to get his own doctor or independent medical clearance. Charles has served the minimum lay off for his age. As I said earlier in all my years in the sport never heard that a rider has no option but to travel to a meeting being told that is the only way he can be proved fit is by a medic employed by the opposition. -

Been in Speedway for over 40 years and never ever heard that a rider has to have a medical just before a meeting at the track to prove his fitness after a 9 day concussion lay off. Why could he not have gone to his doctor for a fitness note. No he has the expense of traveling over 100 miles from Manchester at his own cost be told he maybe he cannot ride. Not common practice, just another one of those rules made up for Redcar again this year. Mr Vatcher needs to get real and stop letting some teams who seem to have more influence than others talk him in to idiotic decisions that bear no resemblance to the rule book. -

Lets wait and see. It may be the Peterborough's win at all costs attitude that's behind it. Plus who made the BSPA change their decision from Monday when they said to Redcar Charles was clear to ride today at Peterborough to Wednesday when they said a Peterborough medic had to check him today. As Redcar Team manager JItendra Duffill says in the local Teesside paper yesterday what can the medic check apart from looking into his eyes. Jitendra is a qualified optician maybe he will be allowed an opinion today. His own doctor would be better qualified to check him over as he will know his medical records. The only way to be sure is to do a head scan (or wait 9 days to see if there have been any after affects. Which Charles is reporting there are not any) as i said earlier IT STINKS. -

Probably gave it to Kevin Keay yesterday at the Youth Championships at Redcar yesterday (but hang on he is well known to change his mind) so he may ask for 2 medicals on Jason Garity as well as Charles Wright then tell us we have to use N L guests. Nothing surprises me now with BSPA attitude to Redcar. -

slyfox replied to RedcarB123's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
IT STINKS Apparently Ged Rathbone was overheard to say yesterday at the British Youth Championship at Redcar yesterday that he has already had a word with the Peterborough medic and it is already agreed that Charles Wright will be ruled unfit to ride. As you say the rule says 9 days, BSPA told Redcar on Monday Charles would be clear to ride today. Only for something to go in behind the scenes (just like the Glasgow fiasco) and Redcar are told on Wednesday he would have to checked on Sunday. -
To be honest there are lots of things these moves at Rye House are about. For me one of the main issues is that they get Stuart Robson down to reserve.Poor Ellis has been victim of the numbers game. However on his average he will not be without a PL team place for long.

Presenters And Announcers
slyfox replied to LondonSpeedwayFan71's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Got to give Roy Clarke a mention if you are looking for good current presenters. Great personality, does a great job at Newcastle, Redcar & Berwick at the moment. Very knowledgeable and holds no punches when commenting. Plus has good banter with the announcers in the box. -
What a load of absolute rubbish. If Redcar had wanted to halt the meeting the air fence being repaired as quickly as it was would have been the obvious way to do it. If you were there then you would have seen the many Redcar track staff who worked on getting the fence repaired as quickly as possible. It was announced that Redcar have the required 3 air bags (as per the rules). It looked initially that at least 4 air bags were damaged and if you were at the meeting you would clearly have seen that. Maybe you were like the referee not watching or you would have seen that it was obviously Richard Lawson who caused the accident (even the Glasgow team manager has commented he was surprised that he was not excluded). Plenty of photos and video evidence to show this. The accident was horrific and I am not surprised that after the adenine wore off Coty felt his true injuries. If you start to cast doubt on the medics credibility you should not be involved in Speedway in any way. Riders heath has to be put first.
