Glasgow v Berwick CL , 21/6/24@19-30
SharpenRake replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What a brilliant night of speedway. After the heat 8 shambles thought we were going to lose the meeting but we pulled through in the end. A wee bit of advice to young Mr Hagon, your meant to turn left on the 1st bend of a race. It's speedway not roller ball. -

Probably strengthens them, plus with Lewis Kerr and Danyon Hume being ex-Tigers this could be a bit of a banana skin for the Tigers. -

And the incredibly knowledgeable Mr Tatum also stated it was a tac sub ride. -

Thank you for saying what I was trying to say in my various posts. And to reiterate I also don't agree with the idea of team managers asking riders to lose a place. -

I prefer the notion that the team manager knows the score and either the team manager didn't didn't tell him to lose a 5-1 or Pickering ignored him. -

Good to see Pickering giving it 100% in heat 13. His efforts helped prevent a Monarchs tac sub in heat 14 and a potential 5-1 which would have made heat 15 even more interesting. I hate it when fans say we should have lost a 5-1 so we can use a tactical in another race. -
Thanks for the explanation. I thought it had something to do with h8ing tories and wondered why you all seemed so obsessed.

I live 15 minutes by car from the track and it's been dry all day! Look at the Met Office forecast for Possil Park and the little video which shows all the main bands of rain missing the track. -

Photo of track posted on Facebook this morning. Remarkably no standing water. Forecast is for it to remain dry. -
Not to mention all the fans that contributed to a crowd funder prior to the season and bought ĹC merchandise.

Some great racing last night and some controversy. The bottom line is that if the result had been declared after 15 heats, Glasgow would have to beat Edinburgh at the 'dale to qualify for the Semi-finals of the Trophy. After the Super heat and what a super heat it was, Glasgow will have to beat Edinburgh. -

Exactly how dare a 15 year old have the nerve to overtake an old man and cause him to have a wobble. Wood must have been so embarrassed! -
Glasgow v Workington - league - 3 May @ 7.30pm

Totally agree. Fans have been complaining about the starts for years and also the different interpretation of the rules by referees. The new rule is simple, can be understood by fans old and new, and even refs should be able to implement it consistently and fairly. It works in Poland and the Grand Prix. As an aside, I thought the meeting ran quickly finishing at c9pm and we still managed track gradings and the kids race. Finally a wins a win and prior to the meeting I would have accepted any sort of win. Good to see and hear a good number of Comets fans, hope you all enjoyed the racing. -

I'm seriously worried about this one. I'd take a win, any sort of win for Glasgow. -
This could be another tricky one following on from Oxford. Another team with 2 big hitters in the form of former Tigers Craig Cook and Claus Vissing, throw in Batchelor and it obvious our heat leaders will need to be on form. Could be down to the tigers reserves and at this stage I'm in the dark who they will be.

We welcome the Cheetahs this Friday and the two best riders in the league, allegedly. Discuss! We are still lacking in meetings at the reshaped Ashfield and we, the fans, still don't know when the SCB plan to meet to discuss Lee's situation. In the meantime with a 30 day ban we need to look for a guest. We knocked them out of the play-offs last year, can we do the same in the Cup?

Lots of ifs and but's, yet no ones mentioned the change to the bandits normal lineup made by their team manager. If it had worked he would have been hailed as a genius, it didn't and he isn't. The bottom line is Glasgow won and got the bonus point. -

Seen the photos Ace showed total commitment, did nothing wrong. Also impressed by him in the re-run when on exiting the 4th bend on the last lap he looked over his shoulder saw Sam Hagon and inexplicably slowed down and finished second. Richard Lawson (just for you Lisa) would have been proud of him. Just a pity the meeting doesn't count! -

Good point. The number of times I've heard riders say after a crash 'I'll take a few pain killers and hopefully I'll be alright to ride tomorrow or later this week'. will this result in opposition team managers reporting these riders to the referee and demanding that they be tested and/or excluded from a meeting? -

Think you're being a bit harsh why would Edinburgh sack anyone if they lose by six? -

Spot on Lioness. There have been lots of opinions posted regarding last night's meeting at Berwick, some I agree with some I don't but that's my opinion. There is however a big difference between offering an opinion and making statements which they claim to be a 'FACT', which one poster has done. You clearly know more about medication and testing, but I would add that I'm aware of a number of work colleagues being advised after a basic works medical to see their doctor as a urine test had indicated they could be diabetic. A blood test at their doctor's showed they weren't diabetic. I think that is another reason for the wording used by the Speedway authorities as testing at the lab can identify more clearly was has or hasn't been taken.
