You're thinking's a bit off. Belle Vue, having taken Mark from Leicester after the Lions closed before the start of 1984 then sold him on to King's Lynn a year or two later for, I believe £15K. After King's Lynn, his next club was Newcastle, in 1987.

I suspect Workington speedway, under various administrations, has suffered from an over-officious medical policy, not apparent at other circuits.

A raw nerve touched there, methinks? Setting the Supporters Club mention aside, the points laid out by Crescent Girl seem to be well-explained and constructive.

The main sponsorship deal wasn't announced until February this year, so plenty of time.......

I think it will take more than success in State, or even National titles for Tyson to be allowed a visa.

Some positive posting from Taffy here. Nice to see.

Like he was trying to be fit enough to come back in July, then August, then September.......?

Three right, Stunty......

Team sorted and approved on here. New manager appointed and approved. New directors added, bright outlook ahead. What in the world are our critical 'fannies' going to find to complain about until March?

There's trouble brewing over Kus, as if Havelock is going to demand a transfer fee of the amount he held Berwick to ransom over, the rider wouldn't get a berth. Last season he was forced back to Redcar by the threat, but if he has officially requested a transfer (and another club says they'll take him) the fee will go straight to arbitration this time.

I think most of the speedway world knows that Richie has been lured to Glasgow by their big bucks.

Hmmm, seems the club newsletter begs to differ with the Welsh wizard Which is good news. Like Angus, I thought Matty was a great Bandit.

This is good work by To The Point. The Workington people haven't announced Matty yet, so he's given someone a very red face.

Tai Visa Issues
Positive Thinker replied to spencebel's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Perhaps, as someone has said, part of Tai's back-up team is the problem. Like most countries, Australia's visa application people probably check on applicants' backgrounds? Maybe a past conviction, or something? If this were the case, Tai might have go to Australia one man down, hire in a local helper? -
Tai Visa Issues

What? It isn't April 1st. -
It hasn't taken long for the good news to be diluted by vague hints of unrest. Look, speedway seems set to continue, with the local community(not just the die-hard, set in their ways fans) having clearly convinced the current promotion to declare hope and interest in going forward. More than a few people have said they felt last season was flat and lacking enthusiasm. Now is the time to regenerate the old enthusiasm, which in many ways is much more than caring who is wearing the colours. Real fans cheer the jersey, not who is wearing it! It is necessary for every sector of the club to focus on ensuring it runs to a stable financial structure, and if that means the supporters club helping to pay some of the speedway's bills, that would be surely help bond them back together and offer a happier, healthier way forward.
-
I took Angus's post as being in part addressed to the factions who (and it isn't denied) declined to help the current promotion pay bills while using the club's name to raise funds for other purposes. The suggestion being, everyone who wants to have speedway at Berwick must pull in the same direction.

Where Was Cookie Today?
Positive Thinker replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The tragedy of the Berwick situation is the continuing disparagement (by a select few) of efforts to keep the club going. People, this is serious. I want to be positive in every way about the continuation of racing at Shielfield Park, and I pray even those who feel they have axes to grind can unite with the majority to achieve this continuation. -
Easy to say with hindsight, but it would be the rider's decision.

You really hate your team manager, don't you?
