Has anyone got the results from last nights meeting at Lamothe, please? Heard there's a possibility that Doyley won it, but not sure if that's correct

Another superb performance tonight from Nathan Stoneman, to add to his win in the 2nd Round of the British Youth Championship at the weekend...............10-points from 5 rides, including an exclusion...........................he just gets better and better. Keep it up mate, great stuff.

Well done Kyle, two U21 qualifications in two weekends, looking good for the rest of the season.

Mixed day for Nathan Stoneman today, but still doing well in his debut season...........Another Heat 2 win, and a good second place behind Gary Irving, as R/R for Lewis Blackbird, followed up by a fall & exclusion, with two ducks......bit sore from what I gather, but still putting in a great shift, keep it up mate. -
Further dates for later in the year are as follows: 23rd & 24th June: Four Team Tournament. 1st & 2nd September: The Golden Helmet Both weekends will probably follow the usual format, in that the Saturday will be open practice & try out day, and the Main event, along with a full supporting card of National Class, Rookies & Junior racing and possibly sidecar racing, will take place on Sunday. That normally means over 40 heats of racing.

The season opener at Heusden Zolder went to Tomasz Piszcz, who took the Helzold Speedway Championship with a faultless display on Sunday 29th April. Saturday practice was seriously curtailed as the overnight, and morning rain had made the track wet & very heavy. Extensive track work by Rudi Mentens and his team saw a lot of dirt removed, to make the track useable for a shorter practice than was originally planned. Sunday morning brought a vast improvement in the weather, and a great deal of work on the track the previous evening saw the racing surface in much better condition than on Saturday, with most of the removed shale replaced and repacked. With a couple of short showers giving way to warm sunny weather in the latter part of the meeting, the contest was finished in almost perfect conditions. Piszcz went unbeaten throughout the qualifying heats, before taking his semi-final from Randy Oldenziel, with Nick Laurens and Henry van der Steen missing out. 18-year-old Oldenziel rode a superb race to take second spot, after missing the gate, he made a terrific cut back on the opening turns to move from last to second place off the second turn. The second semi went the way of Dirk Fabriek, with a good run around the outside line the opening turns to lead onto the back straight. Anders Vad took second place after taking a huge fall on the first turn, in the original running. Piszcz took the final on the second running after the first was halted at the first turn. Randy Oldeziel was the hard luck story of the afternoon, as made his best start of the day in the final, and was close up to the fast starting Piszcz, when he picked up grip and caught a huge lift that he couldn't control, and looped the bike as they entered the first turn. In the re-run Piszcz was soon in command and took an easy win from Fabriek, with Vad in third. There were also impressive performances in qualifying from Patrik Nagy,Mateusz Borowicz, Nick Laurens and Henry van der Steen who all reached the semi-finals. Scorechart 1. Nick Laurens (NL): 3, 3, 0, 2, 2 = 10+1 2. Tomas Sörensen (DK): 2, 1, 3, 2, 0 = 8 3. Lee Geary (GB): 1, 1, 1, 0, 1 = 4 4. Pascal Swart (NL): R, 1, 1, 1, 0 = 3 5. Wim Kennis (BEL): 1, 0, 2, 1, 2 = 6 6. Patrik Nagy (HUN): 2, 3, 2, 2, 3 =12+0 7. Mateusz Borowicz (POL): 3, 2, X(2 min), 3, 2 = 10+1 8. Maurin Vochteloo (NL): 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 = 0 9. Congratulations to Nathan Stoneman for a great debut for the Fen Tigers......paid 6-points....brilliant start. -
Well, for two meetings at least !!

Mellgren rode at the SBA on 2nd July 2011, for the Rebels, scoring 4pts from 4 rides (Results here) and it would have been 6 from if he hadn't been harsly excluded in his first ride. The beauty of Mellgren is that he can gate really well at times, something that is a distinct advantage on the tight confines of the SBA

Who said he did, certainly not Ashworth.............I've read and re-read the SS article, and nowhere does he say he had the contract in his hands. The first time anyone mentioned that, was when you posted it on here. Oh do behave yourself. He didn't call you pathetic, he said your comment was pathetic, there's a subtle difference. You don't necessarily have to be pathetic to make a pathetic comment. No it doesn't. Haven't you ever heard of a diplomatic answer? It's something that Mr Bowden clearly hadn't heard of when he made his public comments on Ashworth after he had signed for Berwick.

Mmmmmmmm.................when can I sign?

I noticed quite a lot of referrences to the boxing Palmer, but it would appear that 'Pedlar' or the alternative spelling of 'Peddler' is a common nickname for any person with the surname of Plamer, but as yet I can't find out why...............it seems the origins of 'Pedlar' Palmer, are not quite as clear cut as 'Spud' Murphy, 'Dixie' Dean or 'Nobby' Clark(e) for instance
-
A quick Google for 'Peddlar' turned up the following references: First Paragraph Photo of Long Eaton Dinner/Reunion (scroll down page) Speedway Plus History of Long Eaton World Championship Qualifing Round Scorechart 1950 (Scroll down to Liverpool) The first three all make references to his being the first team captain at Long Eaton, and also later becoming the Tigers team manager, but I can't find any mention of an England appearance. I'm sure that if you search the Sheffield Forums, you will also find some content relating to Mr P Hope these are helpful Dave T

Sorry to hear that news Jesper. Obviously rules out a ride at the Golden Helmet meeting at Zolder, but may be we'll see you there in a spectating capacity instead. Hope things heal up quickly for you, and your not off the bike for too long. See you in September.....maybe? -
Extremely good point, and something that the more gifted individuals amongst us struggle with on occasions. How many times do we see world class footballers take on the role of team managers at a much lower level than they played at, and then fail because their players skill levels are such that they cannot put into practice the things they are being asked to do, by a person who could do them with his eyes shut.

Jesper, I know that Nico and the rest of the guys at Zolder want to raise the profile of speedway in Belgium, and to do that you have to engourage better riders to take part in the meetings. Also for the future good of speedway in Beligium & the Netherlands you can't stand still. If the same level of rider competes in the meetings all the time, speedway will stagnate and no one will improve, and that can't be good for the future. Unless riders are given the chance to pit themselve against a higher standard of rider, how can they gauge how much they need to improve to reach the next level. Also just being around and talking to such competitors cam often throw up something that will help a less experienced rider to move on from where they are. But it's a balancing act, it's no good introducing riders to your competitions that are unbeatable, as this may discourage people from entering and improving, but on the other hand you have to progress. As for Max being too good, from what I can see he, as I didn't attend this time, he was no more dominant than Peter Juul Larsen was at the Golden Helmet that I attended in September, and lets face it, it was the Belgium 'Open' Championship. As I said, I couldn't make it this time, but hopefully will see you all in June and again in September. See you then -
Forgive me for asking, and probably appearing a little niaive, as I don't know any of the personalities involved in the above posts. What I find starnge is, considering the tone of the above posts, that Kevlars and Tibbles profiles list each other in their respective 'Friends' box. Not only that, but they are the only friends listed on their profiles.........maybe someone could shed some light?

I would think that there are quite a few UK promoters that would kill to get 1700+ supporters through the gate
