  1. Last year I went to Riga for the SGP qualifier. The track was the same size as the new Belle Vue but the straights and bends were narrower than Belle Vue. It was difficult to tell about the banking ,,, but if there was any it was slight. The racing was good and plenty of passing at Riga, That tends to suggest that Belle Vue will be much better with the wider straights and bends plus the banking !!!!! I am sure that the new track will be a testimony to the old Hyde Road track
  2. The gap between EL and PL is getting closer and closer. With some vision and cooperation in the near future we could be back to one big league.
  3. As far as I am aware there is now a maximun banking of 10% for any new track. From memory , Chris M told me it was 8 % but it could be up to the max 10 %.
  4. This back biting / name calling is the kind of thing you expect from teenage kids who know no better.. For those involved please GROW UP , make your point and accept thae there are other views than your own.
  5. No one is making you but a ticket in advance.... and yes there is a fee for this. You can pay on the day or in advance at the ticket office avoiding the fee. Seems to me a a lot of hot air from certain members on the site.
  6. Non payment of riders is not a new phenomenon. Struggling clubs in GB have had similar problems going back years. Sweden have had problems in recent years.
  7. If top riders had not deserted GB then it would have been OK. Now we have three teams struggling to name their 7.
  8. The withdrawal of some top class riders who have decided to leave GB is forcing the BSPA's hands and as we can see a squad system is developing. Personally , i am against a squad system as it will benefit the better off promotions.
  9. Personally , I think that National Development league means British riders only so that there is an avenue for British riders to develop.. Riders sometimes get in via parent / grandparent lineage.
  10. By the time Klindt departs for his Polish fixtures , Holub will have an established average and no doubt there wil be scope for a new rider.
  11. He has had ridden in the MDL for a while for Belle Vue and is a local lad....... Seem to remember Taffy Owen was hardly a spring chicken when he rode for the Colts in 68 ... he topped the Colt's score chart that year if I remember correctly
  12. More importantly , Joe Jacobs is a young rider with the possibility of moving up the ladder in the future whereas Steve B is at the tail end of his career.
  13. An enormous amount of work has been taken on by the Belle Vue promotion culminating with the opening meeting on the 19th March. However we should equally compliment Manchester City Council and the planning dept for their part in the Belle Vue Sports village.
  14. Good idea..... only 300 tickets is limiting, The Fours weekend in Peterborough would be a good slot and the exhibition hall would hold a lot of people.
  15. Apart from the possibility of riding at Leicester next year, is there any real news regards the future of Coventry Speedway
  16. Swindon will have their new track. What is disappointing is the poor communication over the last year from the promoters towards it's fans.
  17. A great idea for a weekend of Speedway for the PL in particular and Speedway in general at a great race track. I hope it is great success.
  18. I'd be happy with a young Brit who becomes another asset for Belle Vue.
  19. Excellent field of riders for the opening meeting. Couple this with over 30 meetings this season at Belle Vue ........I can't wait for it to start.
  20. Sandra Bogh is the best female rider I have seen. Danish U21Champion. I saw her ride at Motala in a w u21 championship meeting.Very impressive display.
  21. Peter Collins sister ( Anne ) rode at Wembley indoors against Ove Fundin's daughter in a race off. Without looking it up , I cannot remeber the year
  22. Hope things went well today. Update please.
  23. Hopefully a suitable replacement will be found for Poole after building up a good side.
  24. If the dogs come back they will be happy to have extra revenue from a Speedway promoter.
  25. Speedway was a good family Sport and in some ways still thinks it is a family Sport , The lack of a young audience has been a concern for a long time, At a time when many families are struggling to keep their head above water financially then perhaps Speedway should be bold and aim at young families needing a viable entertainment. For me, it is simple 1. Keep the prices as they are now but ADD a FAMILY TICKET AT A REALISTIC PRICE .... say £ 25 for mum , dad and the kids in the EL ; £20 for the PL and £ 15 for the NL. No doubt they will buy a programme and if they have kids then they will want a burger and a drink etc. 2. Keep the meting moving along ... when I started at Belle Vue there were 23 heats , a 10 minute interval and all within 2 hours so that the crowd could get in to the fairground by 2100 hrs
