  1. With a new owner at Rye House and Len involved in Kent, it was always on the cards. Len has done a lot for Speedway over the years,
  2. I was told that most PL promoters were concerned at the cost of running a team in the league... so some kind of cost cutting was necessary. Some PL tracks had alarmingly low crowd figures .
  3. at long last British Speedway looks as if it is doing more to encourage youngBritish riders and eventually a strong international side again. There is no instant answer and it will take time... But at least we are now heading in the right direction.
  4. I have watched Speedway for over 50 years and It existed when I started. It is meant to be a protection measure for existing clubs but as far as I am concerned it is out dated and needs removing.
  5. If they do end up with Edinburgh and Glasgow riding on Fridays , you can still have northern tours... Redcar , Glasgow and Workington Edinburgh , Berwick and Newcastle
  6. The 30 mile rule is just an example of an another outdated unnecessary rule. Any promoter should be allowed to run on the day they think is the best for them. This is not about Glasgow or Edinburgh but common sense. A strong Glasgow and Edinburgh are good for Scottish Speedway and Speedway in general. Just look at the vast increase in column inches for Scottish Speedway in the Daily Record during 2015 which can only benefit both tracks. Belle Vue were forced by the Greyhound Stadium to move to Mondays from the Fridays that were used initially.... it is their stadium and their choice but it did effect Belle Vue Speedway..... thankfully we are now moving to our new stadium and are back to Fridays. So last night may well be my last visit to Edinburgh unless they spring a Saturday in from time to time. Best wishes to both clubs who incidentally enjoyed large attendances over the weekend.
  7. I hope Glasgow get Fridays as their race night. If that is they want they should be allowed to choose their preferred race night. Any clash with Edinburgh will be minimal.
  8. Name a promoter that does not fiddle his averages....... It is common place and nothing is ever done to stop it.....it goes back over 30 years at least
  9. As a general opinion and nothing for or against James S. , the flyer has become a pain which referees need to stamp on. Firstly, if a rider moves exactly at the moment the ref has pressed the start button , he must let the race go on. However , if a rider moves before he has pressed the start button then conversely he must stop the race. Personally , I think there should be an immediate fine for delaying the start of the race....say £100 coupled with a warning that if it happens again he wil be excluded from the race. If nothing is done other than re-running the race then some riders will take a chance that they will get away with it.... The fine is to deter this attitude.
  10. Marvellous news. Sundays suit me best since Belle Vue are now A friday track !!!!!!
  11. Now Arena Essex are confirmed and Kent are likely to be in the EL , It sounds like 9 teams anywayj...
  12. I don;t bother with Cardiff anymore. I go the Pairs at Somerset the night before where I know I am going to get an entertaining night's racing iy
  13. If you go on the dmu site and look at the Speedway section then you will see the large number of meetings from 50 cc all the way to 500 cc..... Including " old timers on their 500 ccbikes. It certainly is an eye opener.
  14. Michael Palm Toft is a pure grifter on the track and is worthy of being in any PL team. With good enough machinery , he is capable of holding his own in the EL
  15. As long as your team is competitive for a top 6 play off spot with racers in your team , it won't matter who is there. You have a cracking track that produces quality entertainment and long may it last...
  16. Just booked my hotel for Friday night. Must reiterate that Glasgow have done a great job in upgrading the stadium. Should be a big crowd for both meetings
  17. Congratulations to Tai on raising £ 105, 000 for GOSH. An amazing amount of money which I am sure will be very gratefully received.
  18. If you like new stadiums then make it a date on the 19th march 2016 at the National Speedway stadium and the Peter Craven memorial Trophy .....only standing tickets left ........all the grandstand is full
  19. It appears that Swindon have now admitted that they are unilkely to have the new stadium next year ... there are delays....
  20. The whole project is Belle Vue Sports village which comprises of the Speedway stadium with a 3g pitch in the middle for use by the school next door and any other appropriate event ; a 2000 seater basketball stadium , the present leisure centre which is being upgraded and a full size 3g pitch for football etc.. Stock Cars remain at the Greyhound track The 20 does not include any BSPA shared events if we get any or internationals which are proposed
  21. I hope that a new track is found for Coventry by 2017 which is far more important.
  22. I agree. The Olympique used to be a quality meeting with an excellent field. This year the field was the poorest yet. I did not go for the first time in a few years.
