  1. But our league has provided endless opportunities for all nationalities for me the future is bright.for us.Kemp, Palin Rowe ( etc) can progress hope so i certainly think we have bridged the gap.in recent years.
  2. A close affair i recon a tight home win, for me if Musielak was riding i would be pretty confident of an away win i am not very confident now though.
  3. An easy home win that was never in doubt, Lynn were very poor and a minimum of two changes i presume will have to be made there.I can't remember the last time two reserves scored only 1 point between them and it was a rout in the end. Doyley back on it, Jensen great value and fair play to Stefan he deserves another chance. Not a classic of a meeting but there was some close racing Lambert better and quicker than his score suggests Cookie also looked good very focussed and he seems to be nearly approaching his peak. One thing i learned about last night was having a strong top five was the right way to go if they click like last night we will take alot of beating. The reserves scored 9 points between them which is what i expect we now just need to get our act together away from home.
  4. I hope it is Douglas but i have a feeling King's Lynn might get him.Two names who might crop up are Jeppesen and Ospregen.
  5. I am not really a fan myself but he deserves a chance also that is what assets are there for. Also i have to say Stefan before his injury was doing a great job for the Pirates he was so unlucky hope Stefan does well.
  6. Lanning was a survivor, he sorted the 1980 bonus out for the Reading Racers title winning team i believe he was personally screwed over of his own payment.??? Lanning was a great commentator and brought loads to speedway like Len Silver who i saw Sunday you have to admire both of them for there longevity in the sport.
  7. Will young Jake ride again on the Island Thursday?? i have followed his progress on the grass and he looks a good prospect.Kent fans should not be do downhearted they will be thereabouts come the end of the season.
  8. With you on that one Aces51, Lidsey will develop into a good rider he is someone you have to give time to.At Worky last year they showed everyone what can be achieved with the way they handled young Bickley and how he has come on in the Championship because of it.Why do some of the ground work with Lidsey then allow somebody to reap the benefit in the future patience is the word.He is suffering a bit of pressure because other riders in the team are not doing the job they are capable of doing.
  9. A great video i wish those race jackets were about today they are one way of preserving the club's history.Have to say Halifax and Wolverhampton have to be my favourites not impressed with the Leicester one that year i always loved there original one.
  10. Totally agree Jenkins has had a rough trot with injuries and at Swindon on Sunday you can see the talent is still there. He will be fine just needs more race fitness i hope his latest injury is not to bad.
  11. I hope the weather holds up, i love having the rare continuity of fixtures happening and this should be a close affair. With Cookie being brought in King's Lynn are a side i fear my prediction is around a 8 point home win for the Robins. No news on a new reserve so i presume Starkey continues at no 6 can Batch back up his last two home meeting's.???
  12. You dont want the win at all costs mentality in the N.L though do you.?
  13. Eastbourne that was an eye opener going there for the first time, i can remember them having a claxon there to.Crayford was even smaller a real frying pan.
  14. Why would Kent make a rash decision after losing twice against Belle Vue.?? They will have a good season, they have some real talented lad's to watch everyweek. and another one in Mulford introduced tonight as well the Colts are the best side in the league so there is no disgrace in losing to them at all.
  15. Potentially Shields would have to be near the top of the NL riders who rode for Oxford.Fast exciting he could of reached a higher level i have no doubt about that.Away riders odviously the same old suspect's Jackson, Etheridge, T.Owen were exceptional team men but hand on heart Oxford were two good a club to ever be in the N.L.
  16. Going back through my Oxford NL programme's i would say Shields, Rumsey, Old George ( still good) Joe Owen, Rod Hunter, Sampson, Perks were riders i admired around Cowley.
  17. Olsen cant remember him riding Oxford to much over the years? i did go to that meeting you mentioned the Champions Trophy in 1973 i remember a young Scott Autrey riding.
  18. It is a vicious circle really you need to try to be successful to keep the crowds up to keep it viable. But on the other hand like you said you want to try to produce young new talent that go on and maybe go on and get into the senior side.Swindon have had a great tradition of producing some good young local riders over the years( Rosco included) so it is great to see young Rowe going great guns. What is the NL supposed to represent? is just the entertainment element or is it there to just produce the next generation of riders a fine line really.
  19. Peter Craven set the Oxford track record on the 9th May 1963 in his Golden Helmet encounter against the great Ove Fundin in a time of 63 seconds.Did this record stand until 1981??? when Dave Perks set a record of 61 seconds, or was it broken in 1974/75? when the track was supposingly changed in the pre season.????
  20. The NL has improved no end City a mix of different talent of all ages.Ledwith aged 46 was great value his gating was electric he would of scored even more but for a fall whoever said NL was full of wobblers.??
  21. Going by a statement made by Lee Kilby the future of the Sprockets looks in grave doubt.500 was the figure mentioned to cut even and if i hazarded a guess i recon there were 3/400 there.Such a shame a bloody good day out and i would of paid 18 quid to watch it some good racing and a slick presentation of races in general. Some great young talent on show who give everything and you can ask no more.Hopefully Lee might not give up on it entirely but it has to be viable it really worries me that the crowds are dwindling a real shame.
  22. Really enjoyed today some good racing, Palin for me looks a class act a great riding style reminds me of a young Joe Screen. The Thompson twins were great value different to Palin but tenacious give everything classy as well.Rowe,Palin Thompson (2) will be Premiership riders in the future i think young Ablitt to looks promising and young Sam Mcgurk in the 250 class.I don't know the crowd i recon about 3/4 hundred is that anough who knows??? a good day out.
