  1. How on earth is riding on our dilapidated track going to help Lindback do better in Cardiff? That's like sending Lewis Hamilton karting at Matchams to sharpen up for Silverstone.
  2. You're clutching at straws there mate. I said the Aussies were whiny and uninspiring, and that's nothing to do with Mark Lemon.
  3. What's it got to do with Lemo? He doesn't control their personalities.
  4. What a truly fantastic meeting. The scoreline does not do it justice. For many years I'd get behind Australia for events like these, but as of late I find their entire team wholly uninspiring. A very pessimistic and whiny team, quick to blame everybody and everything but themselves. A team that seems incapable of responding with any style or commitment once their sensitive and over inflated egos receiving a slight bruising. Despite Kelvin and Nigel saying nobody had predicted tonight, I had predicted it from the start! The young Russians and Latvians put on a display like no other. Grit, determination and some massive boll0cks from every rider. I hope the Russians can take it to the Poles and Swedes tomorrow and take the victory. That's not to say I don't want Team GB to win, but I really would be surprised if they come away from tomorrows meeting with as many points as the American's scored tonight! Oh, and hats off to Becker for that sublime ride at the end.
  5. It does make me cringe watching the combination of a ditzy uniformed and largely uninterested woman trying to further her career off the back of the perceived stepping stone that is live speedway coverage, paired with Scott Nicholls generic lacklustre and mundane comments about previous heats, delivered with the personality and charisma of a dried sponge. However, say what you like about Nigel and Kelvin but I think their commentary is fantastic. Aside from the occasional mixing up of words or saying the wrong rider name, they consistently deliver rich, interesting and impassioned commentary. They never seem to run out of things to talk about, their comments and observations are insightful and they make for a fantastic atmosphere for everyone watching at home.
  6. They need to earn it first. Brady was useless most of last season and the start of this season. Masters, whether he is at his peak or not, has done the time and earned the place. Not to mention there is a big gap between performing well in top flight British racing and performing well on the world circuit. And really have to disagree with Lemo being the wrong man for the job. I think he's great for Team Australia and doing a fine job.
  7. It reduces the fear of coming off and caving your head in, but the cream still rises to the top. Riders like Darcy Ward would definitely set themselves apart from the rest.
  8. What, going back to a hotel room with a drunk bird? Take a trip down to Bournemouth town centre at about 2am Saturday morning and have a look around mate. Thousands of Darcy Ward's, as far as the eye can see. Lad was innocent and very much typical of people that age. Don't be a spoon mate. Nobody is squeaky clean. Might not have been the classiest thing to do, but it certainly wasn't unacceptable. Bet you're glad you never were a teenager.
  9. It had nothing to do with the track... it was due to the fact that we mix riders who've got years of racing experience, with children who've only been riding speedway bikes for a year or two and that the best riders in the world don't even bother with Britain anymore. There will be absolutely no better going forward. It will consistently go down hill. It blows my mind how many fans online are genuinely stumped as to what is wrong with the league! Let me spell it out for you... dinosaur promoters making no effort to understand the modern climate, charging over the odds prices for a lackluster product.
  10. When will they learn? I was talking to Matt Ford about this 10 years ago. Can't believe the sort of rubbish these guys still pump out. I would have thought the fact that the league has been rapidly dying would wake them up but apparently not... Awful. Don't worry promoters, a lot of your supporters have barely hit 65 yet. Can milk them for another 10 years or so at least before you have to throw in the towel.
  11. I wonder if you'll be saying that in 20 years time when he comes to ride for the Super Duper Honestly It's Good Premier Elite League ++ as a heat leader?
  12. Seems odd to me. Kyle Newman has been the play off hero for Poole. He's one of those riders who cares about their team and pulls out all the stops when it's needed most. Seems a bizarre move to me. Kyle's never going to set the world alight but then nor are most of our "premier" league.
  13. Paranoia is a symptom, not a condition.
  14. To be fair, when you're the most successful club in Elite League history, you've earned the right to make these sort of decisions. Until you reach that point it's as pathetic as a weird friend claiming to know better than your doctor. Matt Ford is the doctor of Elite League speedway and that's proven by his innate ability to dominate the league time after time, regardless of the rules and regulations. Unfortunately, the sort of bitter jabs that posters like you make, are not caped in years of success, but are instead, quite clearly, composed purely of bitterness and jealously.
  15. Seeing as most of the remaining attendees are pensioners they should probably just remove the Adult fee altogether!
  16. I could sell a Microsoft PC, doesn't make me Microsoft. Matt Ford would have sold the sponsorship for £10,000 if he had no better offers.
  17. Does quite clearly state a 5 figure sum, so clearly not as much as £100,000. And I'm guessing by the fact it was made last minute doesn't exactly sound like people were chomping at the bit! A five figure sum could be anywhere between £10,000 and £99,999 so it doesn't really give much away. With previous sponsorship deals being six figure sums and the league currently struggling, its anybodies guess as to how much it really was. Still, a sponsor of any form is better than no sponsor at all.
  18. The people in these threads trying to win arguments on negligible points is pathetic. Why do we always look to blame others? If you were training for a boxing match against Wladimir Klitschko, but you were only sparring against 5ft journeyman, you wouldn't stand a chance of winning. The Brits need to be competing against the best of the best to better themselves.
  19. Stupid post. Time to improve the quality of our league, not blame those who bring the quality.
