re sundays meeting to put to rest those who think we were cheating re ben and alfie the NL RIDERS is the only meeting NL teams get First pickings so IOW of course picked their best to riders. and to think that ben and alfie could do that meeting then shoot over for sundays meeting is silly so the club got guests in to make sure we had a full team and to those moaning about this then look at the stats peterboroughs guests out scored ours say no more/ COYH

re the Saturday not sure if there is a curfew but it was pulled as the meeting before which went on well past 11pm rye got a ton of complaints so as Peterborough had won the tie anyway rye decided to call it save anymore grief no cheating or underhand tactics involved and if most of you on here were there of which it looks like you were not you would know the first match was the 10 point advantage 1st leg. as for Peterborough I really hope we stuff them this weekend (weather permitting) as they are the ones who have over the season have played a game re fixtures etc also it will be a bit feisty on Saturday as andy was attacked by Peterborough staff and management for trying to break up a row between the little big man toft and richard all in front of andys kids they were all very upset and andy didn't carry on understandbly to be with his kids. let them try it again the well hards COYH.

Lakeside Future In Serious Doubt
HAMMER180 replied to KevH's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
the club is the club where ever it is at least we have a team for the rest of this season and next and 2020 at rye hopefully then we will have a clearer picture of what the future holds as real fans of the club you should all get behind it now as the best way to do that is support the club by actually supporting it rather than moaning re the production on the night the club can only use the facilities of the arena they are at and please remember 90% of the staff are volunteers and the club does not have the money to throw at top of the range or up to date equipment I feel also that some on here are really speedway fans and not really fans of lakeside and to keep the sport we all love alive we need to get with the times as hoping the old days of hackney west ham or Wimbledon will not save the sport it needs to move on starting with the old fogies at the BSPA. Lakeside Future In Serious Doubt
HAMMER180 replied to KevH's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
yes the long term future of the club is still in doubt but at least we have a couple more seasons even if it is at rye. I know its not ideal for people south of the tunnel I have friends who live in kent but hopefully they can make it . the good thing is saturday meetings less traffic than the rush hours on a friday re the future don't give up hope on our new stadium in Essex in a few years time as a stadium is in the building plans at the moment but as we all know a few bulging brown envelopes here and there at the planning offices could change all that as for the sport as a whole there is something afoot of which certain clubs and other interested partys get their way then speedway in the south and south east could be on a exciting new path watch this space. when the landlords did their 3 year extentsion they put the cost of hiring on Saturday up 2/3 fold for the training track so martin hagon took it to rye bullt one on the centre green only for some prat to flatten it and put the hills on there for the ktms they still do training and practice days on the main track as far as I know -

Lets see what is said tonight was at ipswich last night and the whole team just carried on as usual no one seemed overly concerned no body knows what the future will bring but the main thing now is all hammers fans stop whinging and come out to our last 3 home meetings and show the new owners the local council and whoever else we want speedway in essex -

sad day indeed jon and stuarts very short statement shows that they are still hoping to stay onsite but with most new owners they will promise this and that to make it sound like they care what local people want then once signed on the dotted line its sorry change of plan gonna flatten it so I for one do not give much hope for staying there. maybe the answer is rye house which is ok for me as I am right in the middle of both rye and lakeside 30/40 mins but I do feel for the hammers fans coming from south of the river as that would proberbly take nearly 2 hours with the traffic at the tunnel. well lets hope the hammers can carry on wherever. going to Ipswich tonight so will see if I can find out a bit more COYH. PS just heard a rumour that drawings and plans for a housing estate and unbelievably a velodome are under way -
2019 One big league will it happen.?
HAMMER180 replied to Sidney the robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
should happen not 1 league but 2 north and south with the top 2 from each league going into the playoffs as a lakeside fan I do like to go away as much as possible but this year I have no chance as 80 % of the teams are 4/5 hours plus away so no real chance if it is a north and south league I think you would get far more away fans at each meeting helping clubs out no end but it wont happen as the powers that be are totally cluless you could also still have cups 1 within the 2 leagues and 1 big one with all teams like the Fa cup. will not hold my breath though. -
if its down to averages again its a joke how bad must the young brits like james and conner feel when they do well and up their average only to be told sorry your out as now your average is to high for us to replace the so called big hitter as he has been crap bpsa are totally clueless things don't change soon then you will start to lose promising riders let alone fans.

as all is so quiet then all I can think unless ryes promotion are that dense it must be some sort of legal matter again and nothing can be said untill the old fart behind the courts says so. heard some unsavoury rumours but as everything on here it is a rumour. hope all sorted soon as if I was a rye season ticket holder I would be spitting feathers by now.

Lakeside v Scunthorpe 23 June
HAMMER180 replied to TonyE's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
good meeting in my view crowd not great but not to shabby watching alfie come alone and the support he gets is fantastic well worth the support as always gives it 100% re a few posts on here and the lakeside thread please do not blame the ground staff or any other voluntary staff members including the new announcer as they are all doing their best with the cards they have been dealt if anyone has a gripe then approach the management committee as the moans about the Workington match were in my view a bit spiteful and silly really as it was just one of them meetings that just dragged due to things out of anyones control really one of them that happen every now and then. and I really cant see what people expect for £17 . UP THE HAMMERS. -
I think the powers that be should approach the BBC as they seem to have some sort of connection to BT (shared presenters etc) as the BBC have lost a lot of main stream sports as SKY have thrown a ton of money at the football darts etc and the BBC cannot compete with the billions thrown at it that's the reason BT are not paying much if anything for the speedway as the football they have got cost 2.4 billion The BBC sport website is showing lots of low key sports and I feel they would jump at the chance if the price was right and the coverage would be accessible to a much wider audience.

Poole v Leicester Prem A. 30/5/18
HAMMER180 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
you keep slagging people off for asking a question we all know the weather is rubbishe but in your own words the track was never going to be ready in time on the day and that was at 11 am when you got there .and if it is true that there was only 1 track staff then it should of been called then.i can understand maybe trying to give it a go as we have done that at lakeside on many occasions to no avail but it would have never happened with 1 person. Wednesday is you race night and you cant tell me that all you ever had is one track staff so what was there problem are they paid or voluntary at poole? if no one else turned up then maybe there is some TROUBLE AT MILL as they say and I think the people that travelled on the day only to be turned away just before it was due to open have the right to be pissed off and are entitled to their opinion. -

Sounds good but what a surprise Poland straight through to final yet again -
The cold hard facts are that if it wasn't for the so called drop dead any minute oldies we wouldn't have any speedway now proberbly as these are the people who stuck with speedway after the haydays of the 50,s 60,s and 70,s when tv dropped it and a lot of clubs knocked it on the head. so show some respect. the real problem is with the so called decision makers who every year bring in some new soppy rule like this years 1 x 8 pointer supposed to help british riders but has done the opposite as all the win at all cost teams have done is bring in a load of foreigners who have never rode here before on crazy low averages and the silly cant double up if over 6 points mugs two of our most loyal british riders. as for getting the under 16,s to come to meetings the clubs must engage with them and get them involved during meetings like lakeside are trying to do with the kids club and through social media meeting the riders going centre green for few races being a mascot etc. as there are kids going now but all they do during the meeting is run around playing silly buggers or kicking a football about. all clubs need to get involved as otherwise I feel the sport will decline even further if possible. signed a 50 something who believe me aint too old.
