  1. Wouldn't be happy travelling from Swindon, Reading, Coventry etc., either, plus the few up from Devon.
  2. Tickets are now available, in advance only on the website. Should be a cracker with 10 teams competing.
  3. Can't see many turning up for this, 4 guests, 2 r/r
  4. Packed crowd at Oxford a month ago, will be packed again in couple of weeks for the Pairs. Far from dead yet. Probably needs one big league and/or definitely more teams in Premier, 6 isn't enough.
  5. And Oxford didn't have Batch and Summers riding last time. Good to see Brennan the Swindonian riding well. Not a good idea to ride same night as Oxford United were playing nearby? Some fans are not interested in trophy matches, I hope they can sustain good crowd levels.
  6. Should be easy Oxford win, but Brummies won there earlier in season.
  7. Oxford a bit different to Worky as well, Oxford catchment area within 50 miles is millions, includes half of London area, Reading, Swindon, Milton Keynes, Cumbria mainly rural, sheep, lakes, border collies, and thousands of marrasOnly city within 40 miles is Carlisle, half the size of Oxford.
  8. Most fans at Swindon used to arrive 5-10 minutes before start.
  9. Their support went from 1200 when I went in 2004/5 to about 600/700 when they won everything in 2018??!!why.? Just not enough interest. same as Newcastle, lost half their fans. Oxford have started with a few 2000 capacity crowds but must sustain the interest which has waned a bit due to the 2 home defeats in last 3 matches at Sandy Lane.
  10. Did they also meet in 1963, when Pratt beat Knutson?
  11. Was told by a sponsor at Swindon that up to 400 got in free in various guises. A big dent if only 1200 are paying. Saw the heat 15 video of Oxfords surprise defeat to Berwick, the crowd looked well down compared to our visit last month against Glasgow.
  12. Was a great racetrack..shame it closed.
  13. Might be worth starting a thread to find out Steve?
  14. 10 quid at my cinema!!! I agree the cost of watching speedway has spiralled a lot faster than inflation. I remember in the early 70s when the cost to watch Swindon Town fc, Swindon Robins speedway, and going to the cinema was about the same. Watching Arsenal at Highbury in 1980 cost 1.50, everyone could afford to attend. Paying 20 quid to watch Premier league speedway far too expensive, especially with only 6 clubs and few GP riders. How can peeps afford to go every week? You don't see many families attending now.
  15. I'm happy to buy online in advance but as baiden said his Dad won't attend. As a lot of speedway fans are over 65 and don't feel comfortable with that method of payment would be good for Oxford to eventually be all-inclusive to all Cheetahs fans to increase attendances when interest starts waning.
  16. I reckon Oxford will resort to cash and card on gate once the crowds start falling..Summer Trophy etc., Older fans without smartphones will pay on gate. I watch Cirencester Town, cash only on gate, Hungerford Town, where nearly 40% pay cash/ card on gate. So out of a crowd of say 550, 200 don't pay online in advance? Mainly older fans.
  17. My bruv from Ozstralia is a Swindon fan, now converted to Oxford as they had 4 out of 6 riders that were Ozzies when we saw them ride against Glasgow.
  18. Be great to see Worky back. Some great memories watching them race 2004/5...Stoney, Steady etc.,
  19. Will guess 52-38 to Ozford. Should be good battles between Nicholls, Batch and Bomber. Roynon guests for the Cheetahs. Another bumper crowd at Sandy Lane. A fine stadium with plenty of good viewing.
  20. Just race each other 4 times as in Premier.
