And I went through this morning and like you got lost looking for it........maybe an age thing in my case as I do recall, very many moons ago, visiting the tiny training track there...is it same place ???? Don't wish to be negative but hopefully be better signposted when the action starts.

The straights are now mainly grassed over to thereby widen the rugby pitch.......the bends still in same shape, minus the shale which is now dumped at Northside ready to cover new track.

Pleased you have sense of smell....no covid problems then thank goodness....??

Ha, ha, wish I had something handy stashed under my bed for sure........gonna have a run through soon to Worky (from Whitey) to have a look at Northside.... hoping it does eventually revive the Comets. What concerns me is that Comet fans had a great stadium to view the sport and a spartan(ish) venue might be spurned very quickly? Just a negative thought. Air fence from DP still available for them?.....or did I read it was sold?

What happened to those rakers then ? I also remember at Derwent Park they scraped dirt off the white fencing on all four bends, probably to help with riders focus regarding track and fence? The air fences do get dirty too so as you say surely important to be cleaned?

Hope they were bothered though - because despite the veteran age of some they could perhaps still feature for G.B. sometime.......maybe depends if 'Captain Mainwaring' will allow it....bet 'Private Godfrey' won't be happy to see that scenario though.

Getting fed up of reading stuff like this....yes I know it's my choice to do it ta.....BUT every team knew the rules prior to the event, and no matter what the scores were after 42 heats there was always gonna be a top three finale ok. Why not be happy G.B. won a trophy..at last ????????????

I'm with you marra.....what the heck makes some people unhappy is way beyond reason.

I just can't believe that so many can't just accept that G.B. won fair and square according to the rules set before the event. Moaners is too kind to them they are just sad, sad people. I've seen Dan mature from his Comet days.....in 2018 he fractured his femur into 3 pieces..was maybe career ending..and yesterday... HE BECAME A WORLD CHAMPION!!!!!!!! Oh go on then find a moan..some will eh!

Why?

Did when it mattered most.............and I loved it, and was proud a former Comet helped.

Rugby League, which is by far better supported than speedway, always have play-offs in each of their 3 divisions. And it isn't guaranteed that the top team win the trophy.......as indeed St.Helens RLFC did this year after being second in their lg table..teams lower than that have won the final in the past. It makes for a popular and exciting season's finale. G.B. did of course enjoy some luck in the final race...but they'd beaten Poland in Heat 3 so fair does. Incidentally I think I'm correct in saying that the 4,3,2,0 speedway pairs format was the brainchild of the late, great, promoter Ian Thomas who introduced it to the second division pairs event so many years back.....and his Comets outfit loved it.
