  1. Unfortunately one our four top four will have to go (current gs figure add up to 32.72). Add in Lewis Rose (5.86) and you end up with 38.58. Not even enough room for two 3 pointers. All this is assuming a) points limit stays at 42.50 and We are still running seven man teams next year. One thing is for certain though. We need better fixture planning next year. For example we should be going to likes of Edinburgh/ Somerset on the Fridays of GP weekends when likes of Belle Vue (especially) aren't running. As an aside, apparently, next year if you ride in Poland they will only let you ride in ONE other European league. That could influence riders on whether they ride there or not. For example Max Fricke, if he signs for a Polish club (in any league), would have to choose between Britain and Sweden. Even more alarming for the Swedes and, less likely, brits is if they have a polish contract they won't be allowed to double up (classed as two leagues) in there own country. does this contravene European law on employment freedom. Don't ask me.
  2. Then why haven't they won track of the year? Answer:- Cos it's like racing on a bog for five or six heats, as it's usually flooded. And four inches deep. (It's the only track I've been to where they water it half an hour before the start (AFTER teams have done the track walk) while it's been raining!!! Then they don't touch it for the entire meeting, so that it's as slick as a baby's b*m on the inside and all the grip is on the outside 4/5 feet. If you think the racing there is fantastic you've obviously never been to the old Trelawny track in cornwall. THAT was a track and a half. (inside a quarry). I'd go three or four times a year even though it was 800 mile round trip.
  3. Not really. Double header at Glasgow 1 week, double header at Newcastle the next or vice versa. (assuming we disposed of Rye house over two legs). I just hope on sunday Johnny pumps 10000 gallons of water ON the track in the morning with a lot more dirt. track surface on sunday suited Sheffield. Far too slick for us. Not taking anything away from Sheffield tho. They were simply better at Newcastle than we were at Sheffield. End of.
  4. And we need somebody for Rye House away now. According to BSPA website Robert is at Coventry next Saturday in the ELRC.
  5. I think what he means is that if it is rained off on Sunday, it has already been stated that the rearranged date will be 24 hrs later on the Monday, therefore no Steve. However if that happens Robert will be back.
  6. That's good to hear that he is ok. . Downside is he'll have to go back to school now. .
  7. I give up trying to understand Greensheet averages. For example issue 30 (31 Aug) shows Lewis Rose current ave (Aug) as 5.12 rising to 5.86 from 01 Sep. Fine, that would have put him into the team and Victor at reserve. Issue 31 (19/09) shows his current (Sep) average back as 5.12 increasing to 5.86 From ??/??. So would that have meant Victor being in the team and Lewis (in theory)being at reserve. The latest issue is the same. Lewis Sep average is still 5.12 rising to 5.86 from 01/10. Confusing or what.
  8. Interestingly the Home fixture is listed on the BSPA home page (along with Rye House Away and Home) but not the Sheffield v Newcastle fixture. Tho yes you are right Steve they are on Sheffield website ( In the Sheff v Somerset preview news item.)
  9. I think what really upset a lot of people was the exhibition wheelies at the back at Stoke. Not once, not twice, bur practically every lap of every race.
  10. I'll be very surprised (and disappointed) if BOTH Steve and Robert move on.
  11. And according to Rye House website the 2nd leg is sunday 09th
  12. According to the SpeedwayGB website we are at Rye House on the 08 October/
  13. I think we'll probably run on the 2/10 with a guest or R/R for Robert at home. It was the away match on 1/10 at Rye House that was unsuitable (Robert would need to be in Gdansk for practice) as far as Newcastle were concerned. Particularly as Rye House have a blank date THIS Saturday.
  14. Hardly. Sheffield yesterday was even more of a gaters paradise than ever. And Steve simply wasn't gating (neither was Cookie who scored the same). The most exciting thing about Sheffield yesterday was the firework display at the end. and I don't particularly like fireworks.
  15. I believe he took a knock during heat 13 at Plymouth. If he's not fit on Monday the only option is rider replacement, but everyone is eligible to take a ride.
  16. Probably not. it's difficult enough, I would think, keeping track of your own riders availability without having to do the others as well. More likely Somerset were offered this date and they accepted and since they had Workington and Berwick to rearrange as well the four clubs got together and came up this weekend as best for all concerned. So the question you should really be asking is " Did Somerset know Tungate would be missing when they accepted the rearranged booking?". Though, to be fair, if he's riding on Poland on a sunday there was always a chance that he would be missing whatever date was offered.
  17. Ben Hopwood Good Question. The regulations state that you cannot guest at the same track within eight days unless you are replacing the HOME no1. Or is a NL league rider guesting for the home team (other than in double headers which count as one meeting). The only reason I can think of is that when riding for Edinburgh he was replacing Eric Riss for which Edinburgh had "No Facility" and therefore appeared as a "NL G" (as it is shown in the regulations) whereas for Somerset he was replacing Zack Wadjiwotsit who is injured for which Somerset were entitled to a guest facility shown as a "G" in the regulations. So last week he appeared as a "NL G", this week as a "G". One of the many quirks in the regulations. Either that or someone messed up. Heat 8 tactical ride. Josh was allowed to ride as a TR as it is counted as a "Rohan Tungate" ride in which they were entitled to use Josh as a "Replacement" whereas the previous instance match Eric Grondal was the programmed rider and he was "substituted" in effect. In seasons past where two tactical rides were allowed Somerset would NOT have been allowed to use it in heat 11 in yellow as effectively Tungate's tactical ride had already been used. Josh would not have been able to take another TR in his own right for one of his own rides either.
  18. I would think they'd be back on the 17th if possible, instead of Newcastle's Ian Thomas thingy.
  19. Not necessarily the strongest permutation in the long run. Lets assume for a minute that we have gone with this permutation and it is R/R and Victor at 6. Why has Victor dropped to 6. It's not because his average has dropped (5.49). It's because it hasn't gone up as quick as Lewis' has (5.86). We have three home meetings before 20 September and two away. Does it really matter if we win the home matches by say 60-30 (with Victor at 6) or 50-40 with Ashley Morris at 6. Not really. It MIGHT make a difference to getting a point or more in the away matches, but we should still make the play-offs. Lewis's greensheet average is practically frozen now until the end of the season. VICTOR'S isn't. It is more than reasonable, especially as he has, in theory, some easier rides at 6, to assume that his average will continue to rise. It doesn't have to rise much to overtake Lewis again and that would put him back at number 2 from 1 October. Right when we are just getting into the playoffs / KOC semi. It would mean we would be looking for guests at number 6 for Lewis. We couldn't sign anybody else a guest it would have to be. October can be notoriously difficult to get decent guests. Teams not in the playoffs have generally shut up shop and a their riders packed up and, if they are foreigners, gone home. Playoff teams aren't going to be too keen to loan their riders out, and risk injury, to their playoff rivals. Therefore, in my opinion, signing a replacement was a no brainer. Short term pain, very slight. Long term gain. A full team going into the playoffs is better than scratching around for lower order guests.
  20. Someone said that Ryan Fisher was originally penciled in but was out injured. Would rider replacement have been any better. Not really.
  21. I think Ash has been the victim of the dreaded numbers game on more than one occasion. I mean would you keep Holub instead of Morris or Perry through choice.
  22. I didn't know it was a triple break. That's unfortunate for Lewis. i was working on the fact that a collarbone seems to take anything from 2 weeks to six month.
  23. But he won't be when our team change takes effect. With your interpretation it's like saying you can't go looking for a new job because you are still employed in your current one, when in fact you can sign a contract to start a new job next Monday even tho you are still under contract to your current employer until Friday.
  24. The number 8 must not be listed another teams 1 - 7 and must not have a green sheet average above 3. Furthermore he can only be used in the place of the rider replacement rides. Personally I think Newcastle have done the right thing in tracking a seven man team. Victor is averaging less than 5 away from home and he would be required to take 7 rides guaranteed. It would only take an injury to someone else and you are really struggling. Bearing in mind the promoters only had a 2/3 hours to get someone in place before the midnight deadline I think they've done ok. Besides should Lewis' injury not be as bad as first feared we can still, I believe, bring him back in.
