Phil Silvers replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Having to wait for the county ambulance to take Jason to hospital and wait for it to get back has meant that half of the spectators are leaving the stadium including me (nearly an hour and no sign of it returning). Whilst I wish Jason and jari well this situation is not going to help the struggling sport of speedway. Also a mention on the track. Terrible state and was dry and dusty even after the wet winter we have had. -
This gets me back to my point earlier in the thread about teams weaker each year. Here we have a lad who became a strong reserve last year full of confidence because of his team position and the less than stronger opposition riders he rode against to who now is deemed to be good enough for a main body team place putting him against better riders not reserves in more heats. Hope he copes or his confidence will be shot to bits.

Don't be silly Shadders, Kling will cost more than £50 a week. That team with Nelson as the 'third' heatleader are going to get battered to within an inch of their lives. If only the rumours were true about EK coming back.............Silver would have got more of my hard earned next year for sure.

And you by the smart ar$e response didnt read the full content of my post and the reasoning behind it Whilst I understand the calculations my point was that the teams are getting weaker each year. Why not have (if the riders are available) teams built on say a 50 or higher limit as at the end of the day if you have 4 10 point men in a race there are still only 6 points to get. The better quality of riders in each team would surely make for better entertainment

I can never understand why the points limit is less than half the available match points? Speedway is getting a weaker product year on year with novice/reserves two seasons ago now in the main bodies of teams with little or no progress on track. This just makes the higher scoring riders in the PL redundant as they are deemed to have too high an average for the PL for team building and there are only so many places available in teams in the EL. Why not make teams built on a 50 point average or 60 points there only 90 points available to score so I cant see the problem, it would feature a lot of the better skilled riders around the tracks,.....or am I missing something?

Birdsong.... CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP

Huh? Why do you think Bunyan will increase his average so much next season? He only upped it by .40 last season from 4.74 to 5.14. You reckon he is going to add nearly 3 points...........................?

You are kidding? Ollie Allan......

Out of those three Thomas H is by far the best IMO

Referee Just Bottled Semi Decision
Phil Silvers replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In regard to the moment the tapes rose, Pedesen got in front of Holder and took the tight inside line (clamped him down). Holder had two choices, shut off or ride the centre green. He chose to partially ride the green but Nicki was in front immediately at the first corner. Only when Holders momentum around the bend meant he natuarlly drifted out he then hit Pedersen. Ref bottled it end of. -

Have you missed out a n't somewhere Shads?

It would be tragic if Len gave up at Rye without a succesor meaning an end to racing at Hoddesdon. I know I can contribute to attendances but the last two to three seasons has seen me attend less and less but the team building has been very unimaginative.

If you are refering to team GB in speedway the solution would be to limit the amount of foreign riders per team to enable progress of the British riders through the sport. At the moment most teams in the higher levels (PL/EL) have several foreign riders in thier teams denying a place for a British youngster. Although that said we still need to encourage kids into the sport and provide them with the best facilities to train and the best machinery etc. I guess until speedway becomes an Olympic sport this aint gonna happen.

Thats how I see it. If Luke is out for the remainder of the season then Tyson can surely be a straight swap if within the points limit? The only issue here is that Len may bring Tyson in for Mellgren and use R/R for Luke......
