  1. And factor in the need to travel to Far Distant Shores to catch the squid used for the ink. That must add quite a time to the overall procedure. And what happens if the Brother responsible for the calligraphy has by that time passed away. Training someone up to the required standard could take years.
  2. It's over. 0.4 is no different to .40 or even 4.00 it's over the limit.
  3. That rule was for an eight-team league, no doubt it does not apply to a seven team-league.
  4. If they had the money to pay - but chose not to pay - while they were operating, where are BMR going to get it from now they cannot run?
  5. Definitely "leading riders" it should have been because I know for certain that Iversen received the largest share of Sky money at King's Lynn , while he rode there in the Sky years.
  6. People I have spoken to also feel that one of the factors in the decline was when average admissions went above £15 or £1 a minute. It made a lot people think about the Value For Money they were getting. Or not.
  7. If the finances can be found from somewhere, and that is the stumbling block, Jonathan Chapman is the man we need to step forward.
  8. Up there with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones. Ray Davies is a wordsmith of great repute who deserves almost ( but not quite ) as much admiration as Bob Dylan for lyrics. Just listen to the poetry in the choral version of Waterloo Sunset. It's on my Desert Island Discs list.
  9. I quite agree. On track, he may well do the business and I would like to believe that the promotion can do as you suggest. I can't think of anyone else scoring more points who they could come up with. I am just commenting on how it has been in the past, which is a well-known story. It would be great for Garrity if he has "turned a corner" and matured. That would make him a formidable rider.
  10. Going black and white as an economy move? It would be sensible. Or should I say monochrome?
  11. I can't see Buster and Garrity getting on for long. He is ( Garrity ) very talented but crash prone and apparently argumentative and not Robert Lambert's best friend allegedly. Someone on the inside will know. Any Worrall would do for me - is one free?
  12. Sounds like the end of the world scenario is on the way for UK speedway. And the week after that please print what the BSPA have come up with.
  13. Existing promoters will never "relinquish control" because they would be giving up control of their own finances and investments. Someone has to put to them a structure that is credible and that they will continue to try to run with. No other options exist ( except that one of winning £150,000,000 on the lottery buying them all out and throwing your winnings away that way ). Only the existing promoters can decide whether to pack it in or re-shuffle the cards again.
  14. That sounds about right because the whole house of cards will collapse then, due to lack of support and that is the way of the survival of the fittest / most popular sports - no different to the rest of the evolving universe. I quite like the idea of riders racing for a prize money pot, with the right incentives they might really race for it. But how many riders would be up for it? No teams at all. No league speedway. Is there an appetite for that? A speedway circus.
  15. I think that once more Buster just wants to "see this season out" and then Onwards and Upwards in the new re-structured UK speedway league scene 2019 ( whatever it may be ). And he expects the supporters to go along with it - again.
  16. That is a good summing of how the last 20 years have been run ( if that is a word that could be applied to what has gone on ). Locked in a little bubble that only they know about AND foolishly they believe they are "doing their best". The SS gets it right this time!
  17. We can hardly blame Sky for the inability of the BSPA to maximise on what was a wonderful marketing opportunity - wrapped up in a Big Bundle of Cash. Instead, they just took the money and lay back to dream of a glorious future suddenly arriving. Lucky winners were those No.1s who got the majority of it.
  18. Pearson and Tatum do a wonderful job of polishing the faeces that is UK league speedway. I sincerely mean that, but as a long time fan it is very easy to see through and probably not difficult for the uninitiated to get either.
  19. Looks as if Kasper is the allegedly stronger rider than Simon Lambert. Do you know, on the evidence of his completed ride last week that is probably true. Does not say much for Lambert's "strength" in the meantime though. It could all be brighter IF the replacement for Lewis Kerr is an ambitious one. We will be told in "due course" - 24 hours before the next home match?
  20. Worst news I would have hoped to hear. Sad, as he has had many opportunities to reach a required standard in the PL and has never done well enough to be brought back - until the "next time" cover is required. Just to have 4 riders in a race then? Feeble team "building", however nice & friendly he is.
  21. But will even Cookie put new bums on seats ( or feet on the terraces ) or even old ones returning, for more than a week or two?
