  1. Why did you say it's a pound and then look for someone who is free? I want a free argument and I want it in the NDL Poole 2021 thread that is bound to start to ensure total domination by Poole.
  2. I like speedway and stox about equally. I would love both the bikes and cars to return to Oxford but it is simply not possible as there is no space for a pit area for the cars. When the cars last ran many of them were parked on the wrong side of the road and the police allowed them to be driven across the road which is of course totally illegal. I don't think that would be possible nowadays.
  3. I agree that figure is dreadful and would never support bad treatment of any animal but I would like to hear both sides of the arguement. It is possible that the person I met was one of only a few who did it the right way.
  4. I wonder how the Peta spokesperson thinks the cars are going to have any pit space? I have only ever known one trainer in greyhound racing and after all I had heard about the way the dogs were treated it was very good to find that they were treated as well as any pet dog is. I can well believe that some trainers do do things the wrong way but Peta should not tar all trainers with the same brush.
  5. They have said that they will race their home meetings when the senior team is racing away so riders can't really be in both teams!
  6. 116 pages about Poole 2020 in the Premiership section seems to prove facts are totally irrelevant!
  7. NDL points limit set at 39 for 2020 which is an increase.
  8. I hope the stand alone clubs can arrange a three team tournament using as many riders as possible per team. Maybe a points limit to force use of all riders over the three rounds with every rider having to race in two out of three.
  9. BSPA statement:- BRITISH Speedway’s National Development League will come to the tapes with seven clubs next season. The third tier AGM was concluded on Monday where substantial work was completed in order to balance the needs of stand-alone sides and those who operate in the NDL in addition to their senior outfits. The league is delighted to welcome the Armadale Devils as a new entry for 2020, bringing regular NDL racing back to Scotland, whilst regrettably losing Cradley Heath and Stoke from the competition due to their publicised stadium issues.Armadale join stand-alone clubs Isle of Wight, Mildenhall and Plymouth along with Belle Vue Colts, champions Leicester Lion Cubs, and Kent – who remain in the NDL alongside their entry to senior Championship level. The stand-alone clubs will compete in all three full team competitions, whilst Leicester will also defend the KO Cup, and two major events will also be coming to each of the stand-alone venues. The points limit for NDL team-building rises to 39.00, and a change from last season sees the elimination of the 2.00 minimum average, which has now reverted to 3.00.SUMMARYNDL Clubs: Armadale, Belle Vue, Isle of Wight, Kent, Leicester, Mildenhall, Plymouth.NDL Format: 1 home, 1 away – play-offs to decide the league title for the top four.NDL KO Cup semi-finals: Leicester v Isle of Wight; Mildenhall v Plymouth.NDL Trophy: Isle of Wight, Mildenhall, Plymouth (1 home, 1 away)MAJOR EVENTS (Dates to be confirmed)NDL Riders’ Championship: MildenhallNDL Pairs: Isle of WightNDL Fours: PlymouthThere will be three British U21 Qualifiers in 2020, these to take place at Isle of Wight, Mildenhall and Plymouth.NEW RULES FOR NDL TROPHY MEETINGS* Immediately prior to the meeting, the away team manager will select two races between Heats 5 and 12 inclusive where the highest-averaged rider from each team in that race will start from a 15-metre handicap.* Between Heats 5 and 12 inclusive (except for the races pre-selected as above), an additional tactical option is available to a team six or more points in arrears who can, on one occasion, select gate positions for the following race.British Speedway Chairman Rob Godfrey said: “A lot of hard work has gone into the arrangements for the National Development League, and as an association we are very keen to preserve the three tiers of British Speedway.“We have had to strike a balance between the interests of the stand-alone clubs and those who run in the NDL in addition to their senior teams, and we believe the outcome of the AGM is that those needs have been met for all clubs involved.“I’d like to thank all the clubs for their co-operation. It is a big commitment especially for those who are running two teams, and it is particularly pleasing to see NDL racing returning to Scotland, so I congratulate the management at Edinburgh on taking their place at this level.“We were very keen to ensure the additional meaningful fixtures that stand-alone clubs require beyond the regular league programme, and the various events that are heading to those venues means that should prove to be the case.“The NDL is a highly valued division in British Speedway and I am sure we can look forward to another excellent year of racing in 2020.”
  10. I have to admit that there appears to be more dirt thrown around on here than found on most tracks!
  11. I think you are jumping to conclusions! Poole will find the loopholes in the rule book but that is open to every team in the league. As one top stock car driver has on the back of his car "Second place is first loser!" I would just remind you what a lot of people said about Ipswich this time last year and about Workington around twelve months earlier. Newcastle may not have the best team on paper but races are won on the dirt not on paper! EDIT:- I must remember in future to quote what I am answering so that when the original comment is edited it does not make my comment meaningless! Looks like the person who started the thread can't stand by his comments so I won't bother making any further comments on what he says.
  12. Most of the Poole fans are still using the Premiership thread so we are doing them a favour by keeping this one going!
  13. As a London based Speedway fan all I can say is that Workington have more right to be in this section than Poole have in the Premiership section! Poole Premiership 2020 is 111 pages and counting Poole Championship 2020 is 64 pages and counting The two threads should have been amalgamated at the time of the AGM but still have not been.
  14. My grandfather always said that the best committee had two members and the other one was a silent partner!
  15. I would sadly have to agree that there is no chance of car racing returning to Oxford due to there being no space for the pits. Speedway has a chance but without Greyhound racing will have a problem of the facility being underused and as others have said Greyhound racing is under threat from animal rights. So with no cars and dogs having an uphill battle any future speedway promotion will need to find other activities to help pay the costs of the stadium.
  16. I would add Stock Car, Hot Rod and Banger racing to your list.
  17. Only thing I can think of is that maybe one or more of the meetings were Play-offs and therefore do not count to the GSA and therefore one or more earlier meeting may be involved. The other alternative is that the BSPA cannot add up, which is rare but not unheard off.
  18. So the GSA will also cover his last 5 meetings from 2018 to make up the 20 meeting rolling average.
  19. The GSA are the last 20 meetings. The maths you have quoted may be for more than 20 meetings.
  20. I agree that with hindsight knocking the old long bar down was a mistake but if they had got the motorcycle dealership up and running quickly it could have brought in a lot more profit 52 weeks of the year instead of 16 to 20 home meetings. With that profit they could have built a new and more fit for purpose stand and bar to further improve the stadium, instead all they did was knock things down and never finish them.
  21. A building site never looks smart so let them finish the work before we complain about it. The old stand was not suitable for purpose and I always feared someone falling and getting badly hurt. While I have no objection to a gym, I do think they need a stand with seating both outside and behind glass. The problem with BMR was they started a rebuild on a number of areas but never finished any of them. What has happened to the motorcycle dealership that BMR claimed would be the saviour of the stadium?
  22. The NDL has been a good training ground because it had a mix of young riders learning their trade helped by the old hands who knew they would probably never move into the higher leagues but enjoyed racing and passing on their knowledge to the youngsters. Maybe there needs to be a limit on over 25 or 30 year olds in the league but they are an important part of the development of the young riders. The older riders also improve the standard of racing and help the stand alone clubs provide a spectacule that is worth watching on a regular basis. Making the NDL into a juniors only league would see it vanish faster than a GP rider after he is told how much he can earn in the Premiership.
  23. It is probably known by the promoters but just not published for us yet!
  24. While I share the worries that others have following the announcement which I quoted above, it is possible that things may be a lot rosier than we fear. Maybe some new to NDL tracks were present and having found out how many teams could be in the NDL they have gone away to consider if they can run that many meetings (if they are running NDL as a second team) or to work out how to pad out the fixture list (if they are a new standalone team). The current teams also have the same considerations to think about so it is possible that the meeting was positive but all parties have gone away to consider the best way forward which they did not have time to do on Tuesday. Time for everyone to keep their fingers crossed and hope for a positive outcome.
