  1. My wife and I had our second injection on Friday and we were both given the cards with our name, date of the two injections and what batch/make of vaccine we had received. It appears that different parts of the NHS are doing things differently.
  2. Talk about Bank Holiday doubles reminds me of the TRIPLES my parents and I went to for a few seasons. Rayleigh Speedway in the late morning followed by Rayleigh for PRI Bangers and either Anglia Rods or Mini Rods in the afternoon followed by the dash to Wimbledon for the evening Speedway. All done on public transport from Southfields with my mother having prepared a good lot of food that we had to carry around but at least the bags got lighter as the day went on. In later years White City and Walthamstow doubles were also good but did not involve Speedway.
  3. The Speedway Tavern earlier this week both Barry and Martin made it clear that the lack of consultation and discussion was the real problem.
  4. I hope they can remember where they stored all the parts and there has to be a question on when they will be allowed into Wales to collect the parts with the present rules around movement.
  5. The announcement is not even sure how many races will make up each fixture. Surely they should have sorted out how many riders are in a team and the race format before making the announcement?
  6. Spedeworth have now said they expect to run meetings at Mildenhall before July. Here is what their latest message says:- Spedeworth/Incarace are pleased to announce the first three National Banger fixtures for Mildenhall Stadium. Please note that these fixtures are subject to change. All fixtures are dependant on restrictions which maybe required due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. Please be aware that whilst discussions are ongoing with the local authorities the dates for Mildenhall Stadium are subject to confirmation.• Saturday 22nd May 2021 @ 5pm – National Bangers (Micro Madness)• Saturday 29th May 2021 @ 5pm – National Bangers (Big Vans)• Saturday 5th June 2021 @ 5pm – National Bangers (u2000cc)
  7. Thank you for another great video that shows just how much the Warriors will be missed in 2021. I hope things can be sorted out for 2022 so that we can enjoy action like this once again.
  8. To which I could add Buxton but you would need a few million to get Coventry and Oxford back I fear.
  9. The new Provincial League, memories of watching at Hackney in 1963(?). Trouble is there are so few stadiums these days that could hold speedway but are not doing at the present.
  10. Maybe they can take note of how Mike Parker started the Provincial League in the early '60s and proved that it was possible to "promote" speedway. I may hate the memory of Parker for some of the things he did in Speedway and Stock Cars but he did have vision and he did promote.
  11. I am heart broken to find that the Warriors are not in the NDL of 2021. I pray that they will be back with Barry and Martin leading the organisation in 2022.
  12. I did not say agree! I said accept that other opinions are valid.
  13. I watched racing at both West Ham, Wimbledon and New Cross in the 60s. I always preferred Wimbledon and New Cross because I felt the riders got spread out too much but I know people who preferred the bigger West Ham track. That does not make me right and them wrong, it shows that people have different opinions and variety is good. Please can posters accept other opinions are genuine and therefore valid. I have a very good friend who like me enjoys oval car racing. He prefers the Hot Rods while I prefer the Stock Cars. We both enjoy watching racing and don't treat the others view as rubbish and neither should posters on this forum.
  14. The current set up means that PL teams have 10 home and 10 away meetings while CL teams have 11 home and 11 away meetings if they run home and away twice in the PL with just home and away once in the CL. So a rider who is racing in both leagues gets 42 meetings assuming they race at every meeting for both their teams plus any playoffs. If all 18 teams were in one big league this would give 34 meetings with home and away once. If the big league was split into three areas (North/Midlands/South) then they could race their local teams a second time, Home and away which gives another 10 meetings which increases the number of meetings for riders to 44 with each track having 22 home meetings plus any playoffs. The problem is the number of riders that are needed to fill the teams which would probably mean six man teams at best and in the short term even five man teams. This however could encourage riders to ride in this country as they would get 5 or 6 races at every meeting with the chance to earn more at each meeting plus a couple of extra meetings over the season. For spectators it would mean more home meetings with more local derbies and more teams to watch over the season if they only go to their home track. If every team had to have at one under 21 British rider and one under 25 British rider with no other rules on who they were it would give the top NDL riders a chance to progress. As an extra incentive to promotions to run NDL teams a rule that for team building purposes any rider moving into the top league from the same tracks NDL team would be assessed at 2 while those from other NDL teams would be assessed 3. Also any rider racing for the same team in two years would be given a 5% reduction for team building. This would encourage teams to keep teams together which means that fans don't see all their favourites vanish off to other teams.
  15. I was busy on Thursday evening when my regular fix of Island Speedway was on but saw the meeting this morning. Very good coverage of an excellent meeting. Many thanks to those at Smallbrook who make this all possible.
  16. RIP Olle. I always enjoyed watching him.
  17. Plymouth no longer appear in the list of National League teams which is not good news for the National League. I feel very worried about Isle of Wight and Mildenhall as they are now the only tracks without a team in a higher division.
  18. I note that the important information on the points limits for the leagues has not been mentioned by the BSPL. Surely this information is vital to all teams so they can put together a team.
  19. The cynic in me says that the new team in the Championship will only be told if they can run after all the current teams have sorted out their teams leaving the new team with no riders to make a competitive team with. I hope I am wrong!
  20. Which leads one to the question - Are those in charge sane?
  21. What happened to the sidecars? I watched from event 12 and they were not shown at all!
  22. I am going to work by the same principle as I did in 2020. If there is racing (2 wheels or 4 wheels) and I think it is safe for me then I will be watch live speedway or stock cars. If there is no racing or I don't think it is safe to attend then I will be watching YouTube videos of both. At the moment there is no point getting uptight about it, what will be, will be. I want to go racing but I will wait until I can enjoy it without worrying that I could catch the virus.
  23. My father told me that the Broadbanks track was built on the Stock Car track that had been used in the mid 50's but by the time Speedway returned was disused. As a very young fan I stood on the bank and looked at the Broadbanks/old Stock Car track which as we had just started going to the cars as well as bikes I was not happy that there was a disused track . Many years later I would become a flag marshal at the Karts but stopped when the stewards refused to stop a race when a driver was lying in the middle of the track with a broken collarbone.
  24. Yes, it is hard to find the content I want to read some of the time there are so many adverts. Note to advertisers - I don't need to be told which of the young ladies, wearing very little, are 'hot'. I learnt how to do that for myself over 50 years ago and have not forgotten in old age.
  25. But only on Fridays that his team are not due to race.
