Yes, I love that too. -

Speed skating is everything Speedway should be. I ❤️ it, just watched a great final. -
It’s Speedway, and you want transparency 😉

You’re correct, I remember it now (for all the wrong reasons) My mate a lapsed Speedway supporter and Ipswich fan attended with me, we had gone to Peterborough a few times as the most local track to us. I thought the day experience was poor, and after the event was crap too, this on top of that s*it show. My team is Rye House, I went to various meetings in the hope of good racing/meeting with no emotional attachment as Rye had gone. 👍🏻 -

Yes to all of the above, many Sports have lost characters and have adapted accordingly, Speedway obviously suffers because it’s expensive to get in to, it’s reliant on the weather and the model of the Sport imo no longer works, especially for a modern audience, new sports have sprung up since the time we were kids, see examples in the Winter Olympics for an obvious example and the emergence of Women’s sports. Many of these newer sports are niche/minority but they are slick and professionally presented, yet look at the enthusiastic crowds. We have had GP’s in ready made stadia, that were established and served up dross, the Cardiff GP (I forget the year, but myself and a mate went) it was appalling, and still people defended it. We can’t keep looking back, if you can’t market a team sport, that is fast, dangerous and colourful and in which a race lasts 60 secs, which is about the average concentration level of a modern day person (tongue firmly in cheek) and you have multiple Social Media platforms to do this (Insta, X, BlueSky, YT, Reddit, Mastadon, FB etc) oh and David Howe’s daughter then what hope has the sport got?! -

You said it, it’s no longer relevant..it missed the boat, and is still wide of the mark on most levels, on which this community has mentioned. Unless the whole sport is restructured I see no tangible future, that would obviously include the other federations too, I don’t see how that comes to fruition given the varying levels of infrastructure across the board, let alone anything else, I’m sure it would require a tonne of money, but who is going to provide that and get/expect a ROI in real time. -

I am unsure why anybody would be optimistic about this project, where does a crowd come from to support it? Any new people to the sport will surely become disinterested once all the normal nonsense kicks in, guests, late rains off & all the other stuff that has been mentioned to death. Until a complete overhaul is looked at, I fail to see how the Sport is turned around. -
They should be stripped of the title 😊

I’ve just caught up on this, my effing god! Someone sat down and actually thought & spent their time coming up with this. They should have put one of the traffic cones they use to keep the tapes up and put it on her head, for a bit more authenticity -
2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams
Littleze replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What I expected really.. eff all! Nothing to look forward to (not that I was going to attend anyway) Hardly a press release to spark optimism or a future vision. -
Why are you posting rational scenarios? Surely this isn’t the place for that!

I’d say a decent amount of fans (I say decent) will turn up, as they’ve been turning up for similar garbage as it is… thus helping this garbage being served again and again. -

So so true, and despite the reducing crowd numbers, the vocal displeasure by the majority…the lack of national/global interest, including media, still no suggestion of a rethink. -

That would be the end of the sport imo. -
I agree, but it should be made mandatory, the same as a lap of honour, again, it’s not going to change the sport, but it adds something at no cost.
-
You don’t need additional stuff if the core product is good, you can add the extras, whatever they may be further down the line. Can’t they have an area where a mechanic, strips and builds a bike, something informative, kids sit on it after, photo ops with the team or individual riders pre or post meet/signatures. Build some affinity, something engaging close up. It’s not going to add numbers, but surely it’s a small win at no cost.
-
Exactly, you’re not investing in self employed people on 1 year contracts, it’s not a football operating model. If you invested in stadia with the aim to make the said multi use, multi income.. then at least this is a plan/vision.

Perfect guy then for the sport, if betting companies get involved in Speedway, I can envisage what comes next. -

A big investment in what exactly? A large injection of cash in Speedway terms… or major sports money. I would presume a large amount of that would go into social media/marketing. I’m unsure how you market/sell the product. If it was that fantastical, wouldn’t Louis be hanging around? -
They are self employed, they are largely on 1 year contracts, if he was under performing he’s likely be dropped/released.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
Littleze replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
They’ve not done anything radical since the sport first started, it’s the whole sport, not just UK. -

Build to the winning teams average points. This has obviously been said before. If you’ve a squad then no need to drop, riders would need to be salaried or get something if not picked, but that is more money and a complete restructuring, which no one has done since its conception. It’s a nostalgic sport, we look back fondly, what you need is youngsters going to watch, good luck with that. -

They can probably race in any weather, it’s not a team Sport, I guess there are very little rules.. and if that works for that minority sport, they don’t have to change anything.
