Flagged up Monday night after the AGM to expect a significant CL structural change and that Mr Ford would look silly by saying Monday was a rubber stamping exercise. Thats factually correct on significant structural change and Mr Ford is it not?
 -
Rumours are 3 Clubs objected as two are mega keen to run NDL and would not have had enough dates to do so profitably. The other Club I'm told was due despite a high rent were happier riding fewer matches paying more rent than too many matches and losing too much by riding too many matches. Whilst taking all info with a pinch of salt I can see the logic in both cases. I totally agree with you about the original plans being made public and MR D FORD should certainly be removed for his silly comments to his local media about a "rubber stamping exercise and all agreed" - which clearly it wasn't It does mean if a CL Club fails to make play offs and progress in cup and shield its just 11 fixtures , if you have NDL as well though you still have a nice season of fixtures.
 -
CL not 2 home and 2 away but 1 home and 1 away is a massive U-TURN! Just 11 guaranteed Fixtures if you don't make PLay Offs and progress in KOC or Micky Mouse Shield.
 -
As rumoured...and expected 1 Home and 1 Away. A U-Turn / C-Change as anticipated by rumours after Mondays Meeting. Can't imagine many Riders will be happy!
 -
Nothing new in the Star re League structures and it seems was written in advance of AGM and doesn't cover the specific PL and CL issues raised on the day that caused delay in announcement. We'll have to wait and see re both if any announcement today. If rumours are correct I think biggest news will concern CL and significant change of plans. PL if rumours are correct isn't about number of Teams or Structures but something more specific that raised a few concerns for all teams. Hopefully we'll all know more later on today although this lot could appoint Liz Truss to head up U-Turns Team and find her inexperienced.
 -
Peterborough are in the Prem. Delay is nothing to do with Speedway Star. PL - Some concerns raised about a specific issue needed to be solved re PL. CL totally different ,and its more change to plans, as will be seen when announcement is made. Word is that all sorted with CL but waiting to announce both tomorrow.
 -
There may be riders queueing up to Guest at every opportunity. However what happened last year with season and near full season Guests needs to be stopped
 -
He's gone to the Press beforehand and basically claimed , it's all sorted, it's just a rubber stamping exercise and there will be no ranting and raving. When you see and read what the final agreed outcome is, and based on the fact that it wasn't sorted, it wasn't rubber stamped, there was at the very least some dummies thrown out of prams and the final outcome is fundamentally different to the anticipated outcome, you'll realise that he'd have been better advised to keep his mouth zipped. I'm talking CL, there are different issues with PL apparently.
 -
Clearly Danny Ford would have been wise to keep his mouth shut and to have waited for i's and t's to be dotted and crossed. Suggestions , are that issues with PL and CL are completely different ,with a few spanners thrown in works of the latter at the very last minute which have been resolved but which mean significantly different to initial plans, and a logistical issue with the former (PL) which needs to be resolved. Hopefully everyone will have a clearer picture tomorrow. Only in Speedway

He's going to look a prize pillock when the news comes out. Should have kept his mouth shut.
 -
Overreacting to end of season play off fiasco. Season will start in June and end in July. PL adamant they can pull top stars. League will be run as a Pairs Competition with a Rising Star reserve. Only in Speedway

Fair comment, novice which he was at the time in terms of professional speedway may have been a better choice of word

Breaking News NO smoke coming out of the Chimney at ACU House. Maybe things haven't gone to plan. Maybe Premier locked in the Cupboard or Championship bickering over the Biskwits
 -
Didn't Workington win it with 6 Riders on averages between 6 and 7 (or thereabouts) who'd all had a spell at No 1 and No 6 and a wobbler in Bickley

I'm convinced Kerr is going to Oxford (having been told he didn't like distance to Glasgow) where he would team back up with Peter Shroeck. He's also a mentor for Boughen apparently so make sense if Boughen signs for Oxford NDL team. Possibly Kerr following an excellent season also has designs on trying to find a Polish slot in Div 2, so riding for a midweek track would be logical.
 -
How about Sam Masters? The out and out number 1 we've craved for. Lives locally, I think it's a toss up between us and Oxford.

SGB Championship 2023 Confirmed Signings
HGould replied to Nickinho's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Was a successful franchise in the early 80's playing in Aston. Suffered increasingly with financial issues and closed some years ago. May be being revived at some point but have fallen way behind the bigger franchises now. Will always be a small niche minority Sport in UK like Ice Hockey, very popular is small pockets only. Thankfully Rounders (which the Yanks call Baseball) has never taken off here. -
I'm sure we all want Speedway to recommence at Brandon but i think you make a very valid point about it going ultimatey to the Secretary Of State and invariably that will lead to houses being the winner. Logistically too there is a problem too I feel in that we already have Speedway at Leicester to the East, Birmingham and Wolves to the West, Oxford to the South. Leicester have done well crowd wise with a successful CL team, Wolves continue to attract decent Crowds but down on 5 years ago and Brummies frankly struggle and have been kept going by the Masons who lost a lot of money and now Nigel Tolley who is investing silly amounts (and credit to his enthusiasm for that) but we have to be totally honest, not sustainable amounts and we've seen other Tracks close in such circumstances when the reality bites that they are never going to make money. I think the only really viable opportunity for Speedway at a Rebuilt Brandon would be generated by either Stocks or Dogs or both. Greyhound Racing is in decline and has animal rights issues and there are viable dog tracks to the West (concidentally at PB and Monmore) . Stocks historically did very well at Brandon (Brisca F1 e.g proper Stocks) once a month , and whilst the crowds for that are in decline too, it could still be a crowd puller but a Stadium would need more than once a month occupancy. If Coventry Speedway fans also suddenly had a Team to support, what would be the knock on impact on Leicester, Brummies and Wolves. I don't think it would impact Wolves too much, I fear that even 50 less would be significant for Brummies and Leicester would most likely lose a fair occasional walk up too. The fly in the ointment too is the ongoing situation re Wasps and the Stadium there and the whilst the team are doing far better than they were when in the 3rd tier and a small Community stadium at Brandon for soccer was mooted (I think Cov were playing at Northampton at the time) it's not outside the realms that soccer could be considered for that site if the Ricoh is suddenly not available to CCFC. That said CCFC in their current progression would need 25000 + Arena and that's never going to be on the Brandon site due to infrastructure. So, I agree , a battle won but unfortunately still a massive war to fight,

Riders will ho where the money is. Lawson was on a big guarantee at Lakeside and Eastbourne courtesy of Jon Cook in an era where guarantees were getting out of hand. He can't have a guarantee any more so riders will gravitate to Clubs who can guarantee income in another way. It won't be illegal for any Club linked sponsor to say offer 3 new bikes and a van... The long established riders like Lawson, Bomber, Scotty will be weighing up the best deals. Clubs with big Sponsors will be very attractive.
 -
Brennan become a bit of a whinger maybe they'll look to cash in. Wonder if Lewis Kerr might go back to Glasgow? Although I think he's (Kerr) headed to Oxford to join up with Peter Shroeck again.
 -
Very logical in one way as he can focus on Poland and be there most Saturdays with only one Saturday Track now in CL, easy flights in/out of Glasgow and means one UK base and focus. He can focus midweek on Denmark not have to to/fro UK on a Monday and Thursday. He'll be racing home matches on the best track in UK and on cracking Poland. He'll be much fresher. Statement of intent from Glasgow and the sport will be all the better for it certainly the CL.

He's a Plymouth asset is he not? Got nothing to do with Poole or Holders then has it? Surely he has to get permission from the Club of whom he is an asset! Complete lack of respect Poole have for other Clubs is and remains a complete disgrace.
 -
ZC is a Plymouth asset is he not? What if Plymouth refused a loan to Poole.? What if they loaned him elsewhere? It's rumoured that Poole refused to allow any of their team to Guest for Plymouth after Plymouth whipped them at home and drew at Poole. Not sure if that's true may be someone coukd see if any Poole rider guested after that point.? twit for tat is possible although may be Mark Phillips and Mattie Bates have a bit more integrity than the win at all cost Ford's.

Nice one Lewy. Your Waitrose Shares just doubled as they report a 1000% increase in Andrex Aloe Vera Deluxe Toilet Rolls in Dorset.

Any truth in the rumour that you may seek to swap Zach Cook for Richard Lawson and then loan Lawson to Glasgow?
