  1. Some fans at some Clubs clearly can and have been able to communicate. Kent / Redcar to name but 2 and there are no doubt some others Generalisations serve no purpose
  2. In danger of repeating the blindingly obvious. It has nothing to do with BSPA/SCB what 22 individual Clubs do! In the same way that when Workington and Lakeside and Rye House went bust, it's 22 individual Clubs, 22 sets of Directors and 22 different strategies to the issue. Your season Ticket Refund is between you and your Club. No one else. Some Clubs have refunded. Some Clubs have clearly set out processes to refund on request. Some Clubs appear to have done nothing.
  3. It's all about opinions isn't it Sidney; and Davis was always a bit of a "marmite" character as I remember having long arguments (friendly banter) about Mavis back in those days. We all have our favourites and those we just can't understand what the hype is about. That's speedway and it's an interesting thread for that reason.
  4. Mavis Davis for me would be in the "vastly over-rated category" out and out gater, backed by very wealthy family and often picked by National Team over far better riders like Betts / Wyer / Kennett (in earlier career) L Collins / Phil Collins / Grahame's later on. He was a good rider no doubt, a gater who could beat anyone on a slick track, but nowhere near the greats.
  5. JJ they are more now but we did sign a couple of Danes last season when may be better options at the time available in the UK now snapped up elsewhere.
  6. Totally agree. I agree with your idea of protected U21 reserves. It is sad that in the Championship so many Clubs still prefer to bring in often unproven foreign riders sometimes on false averages they cannot attain rather than invest in British riders. My Club seems sometimes to be obsessed with that. The asset system though has a lot to answer for as some big Clubs sweep up riders and once on asset list do little to help them.
  7. Hopefully that's clearly changing now with No Limits / Poultec becoming Team GB Young Rider Academy. Very impressed with Speedway Star and other articles explaining the transition and plans. The fact that it's not under the control of vested interests of BSPA any more but independent and progressive people like Rob Painter and Ian Sinderson with some impressive back up is a big plus for the future.
  8. Wasn't picking on him but feel that 2020 or whenever is a big year for him at CL level as will start as reserve but will need to step up on last season if he's to keep up with likes of Flint.
  9. Speedway in November? Freeze to death and/or catch your death of cold....no thank you
  10. I would definitely agree about Leon Flint. (Bewley is a given too) has not stopped improving since debut season with Brummies in 2018. Palin I think needs to prove his prowess over a full CL season whenever that may be. I think a few may have plateaued out a bit (Bickley / Kemp ) but Anders Rowe came on a lot last season and has got a PL berth which will help him in longer term. Of the rest, on and off the Track Jason Edwards seems to be a cut above the others and saw him at Redcar in U19 Final where he was very impressive.
  11. I hope you don't lose family or friends like I have. Maybe if you had you'd not be so arrogant and have some respect?
  12. Go check the number of fit under 50's dying and show some respect!
  13. Anyone who went to Peterborough for CL 4's or Somerset for CL Pairs last year will have seen cracking meetings in front of big crowds. Doubt they could have got many more in to Somerset and main stand crammed at Peterborough and back straight very well populated.
  14. If you think hospitals are ready to deal with unnecessary sporting injuries you are definitely living in a parallel universe. A + E are dealing primarily with Coronovirus, those not are seeing reduce traffic as no one unless critically ill will risk going to A + E in case they catch the virus. I doubt many riders would take the risk right now. I'm even more sure that majority of supporters would risk going to speedway right now or feel it right to do so. 3 - 4 months away at least.
  15. What planet have you been living on???
  16. Comments from various CL Promotions on their websites, social media and Speedway Star indicates either no such directive from BSPA or some Clubs ignoring it. Most likely no such BSPA directive. Kent - Len said weeks ago he will refund all season Tickets, no messing refunding all. Redcar - announced they will wait and refund on a pro rata basis once more known re Fixtures but fans can contact them Eastbourne - said will review in June but anyone wanting refund due to hardship to contact them like Redcar. Every Club is a separate Company. They are governed by BSPA on Speedway' matters but surely can't be instructed by BSPA on a business decision like this. Those 3 Clubs and probably others certainly aren't listening to alleged BSPA comments It's between you and your Club!
  17. Star is excelling in the lockdown well done to all concerned. Best it's been in a long time. I fear though that at some point the Best Programme of the Year Annual Feature will be Best Website of the season, and that the Positives and Negatives of the Season will be who's had a Good Lockdown and who hasn't. Fingers crossed neither are needed, although might be fun Features at some point.
  18. What happens when they get to hospital A+E. ??
  19. Basic economics Polish Speedway can survive in this mode for 2020. It appeases TV / Sponsors / Public and allows riders to "earn" 50% of Polish earnings are still 5 times what they could earn elsewhere. They will spend LESS with no GP or alternative meetings / travel and will spend 4 months in a speedway form of Japanese Sumo enclave. You can't knock the Poles. What are the BSPL/SCB doing, other than working day to day with no clear plan or strategy other than to play Quizzes on a Friday night, give caps away as prizes and allow the Dominic Cummins of UK Speedway to flog off cheap publications to dormant Clubs, that they won't allow to race any more but are happy to rip off.
  20. Be interesting to know average crowd figures at IOW 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 - is the hard work paying off in tangible numbers Also be good to know if any supporter of any other Club has actual evidence of crowds increasing / decreasing / static; not bravo my Clubs better than yours etc but an honest assessment. To loosely quote a Covid 19 theme, are we still approaching going down to peak lethargy or we on a plateau and going nowhere or are we seeing increasing numbers in places and if any of those apply are they regionalised / specific to Clubs or Areas? (unlike Covid going up is Good, going down is bad and plateau is probably betetr than many think) Is Scotland thriving, how about the North East, are East Anglia / Midlands overloaded; how is the South doing, is suggested progress of BV purely down to their isolation geographically etc My perception with the Midlands is that Wolves are stagnating feeling and looking old and tired, no disrespect to CVS/Peter legends in their day but has that day passed? , Brummies are holding their own thanks to some good work from David and Peter, and Leicester are progressing but having found a race-day and level that suits and mostly down to recruiting Stuart Dickson.
  21. I dont think the Poles will see living in Poland as a pre-requisite beyond 2020. What we may see is an insistence that they have to be there on a Friday and remain til a Monday. That helps Sweden more than UK.
  22. I can't see Cradley ever coming back. The fan base has dwindled due to age and apathy. If the outstanding Tony Mole could not find a track location for them between 2000 and 2010 and make it work, then I have to ask "who can"?? The Money raised to support the Cradley Planning and set up was then squandered and used by Patchett and Pearson who have piggy backed on to the Cradley name for a long time, creamed money off it and done very little to actually support it. Now they have "run for the hills" as the money pit has run dry. Its 25 years since Dudley Wood closed and I fear Cradley will never return. Birmingham and Wolverhampton are barely viable, so where is there room for another Club in the midst of that as I see very few Cradley fans (30-40 in 2019) at either track and Cradleys gates last year were probably below 500. The horse sadly has bolted.
  23. Spot on Crabba. So Stoke Potter (how ironic) would close any track with a dog track as dog racing is in a worse place than speedway??? Maybe he'd like to visit Perry Barr and Monmore Green and see the outstanding Spectator facilities, add Sheffield and a few others. Then he might like to enquire what % of the income of those tracks come from Dogs and Speedway. I'll give him a clue, Speedway is probably less than 10%?? Has he never heard of Betting turnover? Then he might like to go to Mildenhall, Ipswich and Eastbourne and a few others and ask them what % of income comes from Stocks v Speedway. I would estimate 70-80% is from the Stock Cars. Stop talking baloney about Tracks.
