I thought Jack Smith was already signed up in the championship for some reason, but turns out he's not, I agree he would be another very good option. He's allowed to do all three leagues this year isn't he? Going to become suddenly very busy if so. I know the CL would probably be a big step up for Ashton or Max, but giving them the experience for half the season with the view of signing them on next year without them starting from square one sounds sensible to me, yes they might not score very many, but I bet they would learn a lot. Especially riding at Redcar, THE best track in the country and should get track of the year over Scunthorpe imo...

Terrible news for Redcar and Jake. I have only been to 3 meetings this season, but each time I went you could see a lot of improvement in him. Fingers crossed he heals up 100% ready for next year and this doesn't hold up his progress... As for replacements it could be tricky finding someone on a 3.00... Danny Phillips? He seems to be doing alright for the bullets, has a bit of experience of the CL already and is local. Other options would be to give a young lad a chance such as Max Perry or Ashton Boughen, both are going well in the National League and I've seen Ashton ride at numerous Redcar second halves so he must be in and around the club/area quite a bit? Massive talent. I know Nathan Stoneman isn't coming back from his injury and I don't see Bickley returning either, so both of them are out the window.

Hmmm it sounds like there's a story there that you're hinting at. If I remember correctly Jason started at Buxton? I am unsure where Chris Morton and David Gordon are affiliated with, I also can't think of anyone from the top of my head who rode for Buxton who had troubles with the law (the only other rider who springs to mind is Jerran Hart). Sounds like a loose cannon was left unsupervised, it's good to give these young lads a chance to turn their lives around when they're young, but if they're not properly looked after and rehabilitated... Look what happens It's an interesting topic yet one that's also not very nice to talk about at times...
-
Sounds good, would be a welcome addition, any team helps but Rye House are one of the bigger names in the sport, it's a shame they're not in it already
-
He really didn't do the club any favours... In fact it was the total opposite, I don't care what anyone else says... Yeah he might have tried but he refused any help, which he clearly needed and ultimately that spelled the end for the club. He'll not be remembered well by most Problem is there is no one with enough money who's willing to get permission and build a track/stadium elsewhere, so Newcastle are finished. Unless an old starry eyed fan wins a ridiculous amount on the euromillions, but what's the chances of that It would be interesting to know more details about this genuine offer to take over... If there are any?

So there's basically just a pile of dirt left... Sad

Great, so the only part that was cr@p is the only part that remains... I loved the shape of the track at Newcastle, it was a new challenge for most riders and the corners meant that whoever had the biggest balls going into the bends won... Saw some very interesting techniques entering the 3rd bend in the 15 years or so I went there The surface was absolutely terrible in the last couple of seasons though... With some of the holes appearing... The whole thing needed digging up and putting back down There is absolutely zero chance of the Diamonds coming back anyway... Just got to accept that and go to some interesting meetings around the country instead
-
That is excellent news and I hope everything goes to plan, I never got to visit Rye, it would be nice to go one day. I'm assuming it would be National League at least to start with (the best league anyway)
-
Just need Rye House to make a comeback now..... Is there any rumours of that happening?
-
Just want to clarify, just in case yous three have read into my messages wrong I would NEVER, EVER give Garrity a chance in my team, he does deserve every minute he got in prison, I just hope that they can somehow rehabilitate him while he's inside and he can come back out a better man for society... I don't see it though
-
I am aware Jason currently resides in prison... But who is giving him a chance now? He got many chances before his stint... But no one is going to give him one now, he's behind bars!! The original post made it sound like someone was getting him on day release

World Cup - Wroclaw July 2023
Diamonds85 replied to Monarchs2468's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would personally go with Richard Lawson. I'm a big fan of Charles Wright but I think Richard just has the edge with the bigger meetings. But as far as I'm aware the 5th rider doesn't have to be under 21 anymore, so perhaps bring Charles too and if Richard struggles try them both? -
I think the Premiership needs a major overhaul next season before too many riders like Woffinden come back... Unless a squad system is adopted like Sweden and for example Bewley and Woffinden both sign as number 1 for Belle Vue and split the rides... I think teams which are struggling to make ends meet need to move down and clear the way for upcoming, forward thinking teams like Glasgow, Redcar and Oxford... I'm sure Poole would be in there too if the racenight wasn't such an issue...

Who's in prison who's getting a chance?
-
If I was at home on my laptop, I would have checked but the speedway gb website on mobile is a pain in the ars e at times... I have seen Kyran many times ride at Redcar in the 2nd half meetings, and no way did I think he was ready for the NL... But he's got himself a 3.50 average so I guess he must be scoring something at least...
-
Ah my bad, I thought all of them were on a 3.00 average, I normally check these things. Also I didn't expect Lyden to be above a 3.00 at all, fair play.
-
I personally like having Adam at number 4. Once Alex comes back he's more than capable of being the third heatleader and it means heat 13 is Clegg and Hook, 14 has Roynon and heat 15 will be 2 of them 3 named... Such a strong end to the meeting... Personally I would put Dayle wood at number 2 though, have Mickie as the senior reserve and Kyran at 7, Kyran is out of his depth in the main body, particularly away, but scores at number 7 alright, whereas I think Dayle would be slightly better at number 2, and Mickie is still a strong number 6 1. Max Clegg 2. Dayle Wood 3. Alex Spooner 4. Adam Roynon 5. Jack Hook 6. Mickie Simpson 7. Kyran Lyden

Redcar Vs Plymouth 23rd June league
Diamonds85 replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thank you both so much. I might make it my first meeting back in a very long time... I've fallen out of love with the sport as of late, but it will be nice to see some new faces... -

Did anyone catch the full line up for the Julie Lewis memorial? I believe it was announced? Charles Wright, Danny King, Erik Riss, Danyon Hume, Celina Liebmann, Jade Mudgway is all I'm aware of so far... -
I hope you're a confident driver, if you're planning on driving around Birmingham... Worst driving experience of my life, and I've driven in Paris and Rome!! Good luck, god speed.

Averages. CMA. Greensheet. Rolling.
Diamonds85 replied to Diamonds85's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I can very easily knock up my own spreadsheet... But it would be difficult to include a calculation that would include the last 10 results only, without having to redo the calculation for every meeting, or deleting the 1st meeting of the 10 included, as far as my excel skills go anyway, I dunno if it's possible to calculate only the last 10 figures entered into a table or something? -
Averages. CMA. Greensheet. Rolling.
Diamonds85 replied to Diamonds85's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
That feels like a very annoying way to calculate it... Particularly if you're wanting to keep track of it by a spreadsheet... Do the people who make the rules just make it as difficult as possible for the people who keep track of these things or what! -
A question that's surely been asked a million times on here before. But can someone explain to me how the hell they work and what the difference is between CMA, Greensheet and Rolling and why there has to be three different types of averages!! How are they even calculated (Points/Rides)*4?? Or point me to a webpage where I can find this info. Cheers

Belle Vue -V- Peterborough
Diamonds85 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Basso is absolutely brilliance in every meeting I've seen of him. He appears to be slowing down a little this season, but still... If the Diamonds still existed and we signed him I would be absolutely delighted, even when he's not scoring points he's entertainment all in one. I'm not sure however how much further he's going to progress in the sport, with his riding style and slowing a little this year (although that could just be because he''s in an awful team environment?) -

Tarasenko is a hell of a rider on the continent and has been for a number of years, I'm not sure whether some people over here appreciate just how good he is... I'm sure he will prove himself, particularly on the big tracks, similar to Russia/Poland. I personally would love to see him ride, but I am not going to another SCB/BSPA meeting again until they pull their head out of the sand and stop sabotaging any others who are trying to save the sport through greed and selfishness Richie is not so bad, but Hans Andersen needs getting shot of asap, even if it's only for someone like Connor Mountain, at least he would score more than 1 point at reserve... Hans should be a championship 3/4 rider only now...
