  1. I know it's not a double barrelled name but stick with me. Today being a bank holiday thanks to Betty from the big house in Windsor I was able to watch some trash on TV this morning. At the end of each programme there is a list of names that are refered to as "the credits" well at the end of both "Cheer's" & "Fraiser" an Associate producer is called Mary Fukuto. This opened my eye's to a couple of overused hyphons being used to make that surname a much different statement. Just to be sure I used everyones friend Mr Google & it seems that not only is it a real name but Ms Fukuto is a much decorated producer.
  2. ( Pardubice 21.05. 2022) The first of this year's six World or European Championship races, which the Pardubice Club will host throughout the season, took place at the Pardubice Speedway Stadium. That race was the semifinals of the European Under-23 Championship. The dramatic battle to advance to the finals of this competition, which could only be secured by the winner of the race, was decided only by the last twentieth race. By winning it, Dan Bewley secured the first place in the race for British colors. The biggest star of the race, a participant in this year's Grand Prix series, did not lose a single point in the race, he was the first to finish his race five times and he completely dominated this race. In addition, the other teammates did not let themselves be embarrassed, they created a balanced team, they won in another six races, which earned them the first place in the race and the way to the October final in Krakow. Their biggest rival in the battle for every point was the Czech team. Jan Kvěch, just like Bewley won in five races, his colleagues Petr Chlupáč and Daniel Klíma each added two winning races, but the British had an advantage in experience and in the quality of the fourth rider. Both of our remaining youngsters Bruno Belán and Jakub Exler did not collect as many points, it is known that they are just entering the world flat track and of course they do not have experience as their colleagues, finalists of this year's Junior World Championships. Our team lost four points in the final count, but the team has a very low age average of nineteen and a half years and can be in a virtually unchanged line-up for another two years. The French team finished third and the fourth place went to the team of riders from three countries. This Euro team replaced the last-minute apologized Netherlands. Celina Liebmann, a competitor who will compete with the world elite in Friday's final of the Prague Junior Championship, also presented herself in his colors. 1. Great Britain: 46 1. 3. I think the fans will support it well enough. My concern is more weather the riders will support it as I would think the pay will be based on BSPA pay scales & not the riders contract agreements. I will wait & see for the future rounds.
  4. I don't think it would be a wise idea to replace BWD or Congreve, I'm almost certain that neither would have traveled 12,000 miles from NZ without a substantial financal input from Newcastle speedway. I'd say Mr Grant would be keen to see his investment show some return in the not to distant future. All the time BWD is on his starting average he's an asset for a "Horses for courses" guest facility whilst he's still on sick note duties
  5. Petr Chlupac is no slouch either, it would be no suprise to see him as top Czech on the day
  6. There was a lot of green light go starting tonight & Birmingham worked it out. I have to say Oxford need to take a good look at a few riders returns around their home circuit.
  7. There is a rule that a rider can be disqualified for not making a bonefide effort to race. But if a rider is tailed off in 4th & is still on the track & has not stopped moving forward my opinion is until he has been lapped he can continue & claim any points he may qualify for. The Referee will not know why he is traveling so slowly, it might be a mechanical issue or even personal injury. Nobody likes to see a rider give up & just roll around the track but we all stand up to clap the efforts of any rider that pushes their bike for half a lap for a single point. From what I can make of it a rider that makes no effort & comes last has already been punished with no points money & the fans disapproval so why the need to disqualify him as well
  8. In the first meeting the outside gates were the best in the early races. I only judge from gate to first turn. What happens after that & who scores what points are from racing.
  9. Great meeting. I think advantage Redcar, without Gilkes at reserve for the home team it could have been a very different score.
  10. As I understand it there was some dispute over stonemans rides & with all the changes & rechanges with the reserves I can see that some confussion could happen. But he did take his 3 rides as required so eventually it got sorted & apologies were made over the tannoy. But all in all a good event some close racing I'm sure the track will bed in & the dust will go away. well done to Poole I had a slightly bigger margin I think Ruml & newmans scores were a step in the right direction If Heeps can make the same improvment I believe the Cheetahs can do well this season
  11. I would guess that the promotion at Oxford will wish to hold out for a few weeks as they expect the maximum capacity to increase from its existing 2000. The first two events at Cowley have sold out (Long may that continue) & as the work there gets closer to its finish I think the capacity can near double
  12. The first meeting done & dust free (mostly). Some good racing with places swapping on a regular basis. It would not be fair to find fault after all concerned put in a sterling effort. this was the first night & a lot was going on with all sorts of presentations the biggest of course the return of Hans Nielsen to Cowley. I think next week will be run swifter & hopefully in front of another big crowd. Get your tickets early it could sell out again with the current champions on track
  13. Jamie & his crew have done a superb job to bring the Cheetahs back to track. On Wednesday night the result is of no importance. British Speedway is the winner May the sun shine & the racing be fine.
  14. The evidence is clear I'm not a good one! I look at the Oxford side & believe it has been put together at short notice with some riders that other clubs didn't want to use. I hope I'm wrong but I still feel they are not as strong as their points show.
  15. I'd be willing to bet Berwick top 60. I think Oxford are carrying to much baggage.
  16. The problem is how do you decide what a good crowd is? many posters within this forum I imagine remember crowds upwards of 10K back in the "Good old day's" but now there is so much to factor in. Fewer top stars in British racing, lower standard racing, Cheaper & more frequent flights, the need to accomodate visiting riders & of course the modern human. I attended a Promotion/Fans get together & someone asked why dont you get a couple of riders with their bikes to attend schools in the area. A good idea in principle & a very good idea in 1975 but as I mentioned above "The modern human" we need to get the youth away from their hand held devices for a 90 minute period. They will come to watch but when a meeting is strung out & 15 races take from 19:30 until 22:00 they get bored & never return but the worst is to come when they put on their social media account how slow & boring speedway was & they will never go again. In short run a slick show start on time pre-meeting presentation 19:15 first race 19:30 at the tapes run to the finish 21:00 (without intervals) victory parade (15 Minutes) second half races until 22:00. If this was sustained maybe we could hold the attention of the youth & the word SPEED in our sport of SPEEDWAY might just mean something again.
  17. I don't like the new site at all. All I want is the information & to be able to find it easily. The old site gave me that. This is not an improvement.
  18. Give the guy a chance. It's his first time & there will be a lot of pressure on this meeting for all involved with the stream.
  19. I don't think he would be allowed to double up as he is a permit rider on an assessed average. I believe it would be against his work permit regulations & not the BSPL rules for a change. I guess you could argue that Basso is in the same position average wise but he is in the second year of his permit & he's riding for teams that wear red.
  20. Jason Edwards (Mildenhall) 8.84 Luke Crag (Berwick) 6.41 Nathan Ablitt (Belle Vue) 6.29 Sam McGurk (Belle Vue) 5.25 George Rothery ( Armadale) 4.92 Ben Trigger (Plymouth) 3.57 Luke Killeen (Oxford) 3.00 Total 38.28 I had a team ready at 35.00 so with a little bit of juggling I managed to find a few more points. Lets hope all the boys stay injury free this year.
  21. I agree the BSPA rule has been increased to 40.00 However we are not racing to their rules in this project. On the first post it states as Usual we are running to a 35.00 limit. & as yet Islander has not sent us an update. I have built a team to the 35.00 limit & don't want to be at a disadvantage so I would like the rule's for this season to be released prior to submitting my lineup. If we are to move to a higher limit so be it. Islander has already said he would organise the game & I am waiting for him to do so.
  22. I have a Question. Post 1 page 1 states that teams are limited to 35.00. So far all teams listed are over 39.00 & I suppose looking at a 40.00 limit. have we changed the rules of this fun game?
  23. I don't think Plymouth would be allowed a facility for Edward Kennett as he has not ridden for the club & withdrew prior to any official team declaration being made
  24. Good man. I'll be looking forward to the rules & then finding out what all the new averages are.
  25. He has worked with Robins for many years when his racing commitments have allowed but now he has a family & like all of us over the last few years has had to look at his life & reevaluate what is most important. if he has been offered a future proof position within the company then he would be foolish not to accept.
