Sheffield v Wolves 06.19.22 PO semi second leg
MattB replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Credit to Sheffield for a ruthless display, but that was terrible performance from start to finish from us. Needed a good start, but 2 5 - 1s in the first three heats knocked the fight out of us, but I saw far too many heads drop. No interviews by the management extremely telling I think -
Absolutely. Yet they do it every year and never learn.
-
Track is absolutely saturated on the straight.
-
Sadly, their priorities lie elsewhere and they're too busy trying to get one over on each other. Really does look ominous that Coventry have been shafted big time.

Edinburgh - new home required….

Sadly this does not come as a surprise to me. As soon as they went public with their plans, I felt that they had jumped the gun in terms of leading Monarchs fans to think that it was in the bag. I feel very sad for the Monarchs fans, but less sympathetic towards their promotion and officials for making rather rash and bold statements that they've not been able to keep (regardless of whether they've been let down by the council or not). Sadly, its another club that appears to be heading for the wilderness. -
Wroclaw GP Saturday August 27th

Think it was Dugard and Loram at Coventry in 2000. Think that's the last year we had three Brits in a semi final as well,. -
Wolves v Sheffield - Monday, 22 August
MattB replied to Roger Jacobs's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Advertised start time 7.30. 7.46. Still waiting......... -
Asides from the track, my biggest gripe was the conditions in the stadium. I was on the third and fourth bend, and it was uncomfortably hot and heavy in there. The queues for drink were very slow. I've actually been quite off colour today, so maybe a little heat stroke.
-
That is actually a fair point. The last time the Cardiff GP was staged in August was 2012, and although it was a good meeting that night, the crowd was well down on previous years.
-
Bet your fun at parties
-
I'm here. I'll usually defend Cardiff to the hilt, but with the crowd down on previous years, this track is exactly what it did NOT need.

British Final 2022

British Speedway has never been very good at dispelling the theory that its all organised on the back of a fag packet -
British Final 2022

Definitely Bomber. Brannon will have plenty of chances to get a Cardiff slot. Bomber almost certainly won't. -
UK speedway slowly dying
MattB replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Sadly the attitude some of the promoters have towards fans who stop going is "it's your loss". I guess they obviously feel enough people are packing their terraces out that they need not bother with those who've had enough of it -
David Norris wasn't averse to throwing the odd gesture to us when he won a heat at Monmore (though he always seemed to do it out of the view of the referee!)
-
They've jumped the gun by saying it will be ready in Spring 2023, when given the work that will be needed if and when they even get the go ahead is an extremely large ask.
-
Exactly my point. Edinburgh have jumped the gun here and its led to people believing its in the bag when it's anything but
-
Fair enough, but even a very basic stadium would need planning permission, which is generally known to involve reams of red tape. Look at Belle Vue, which took almost ten years from the plans being unveiled and the first meeting and the opening night that almost never happened.
-
Don't get me wrong. I wish them well with the project and I'll be delighted to have egg on my face when the tapes go up on Edinburghs first match in the stadium. But getting planning permission, sufficient funding AND constructing the place all before next Spring? Seems a little ambitious. As I say, believe it when I see it
-
Bit puzzled as to how Edinburgh are so confident of this being ready next Spring when they haven't got planning permission yet. Lots of hurdles still to negotiate surely Sorry, given what's happened with Reading and Swindon in recent years, I'll believe it when I see it
