One thing you can never accuse Tai of is being shy about publicity for himself, and him being back in the GP a year after almost losing his life will undoubtedly generate headlines (at least in the short run). Id wager that more non speedway fans have heard about him than they have of Zmarzlik. On recent form? He should not be near the GP. No title or even gp win since 2018, and his last three attempts have seen him finish 8th, 11th and 18th. Plus he won't have ridden competitively for the best part of 18 months by the time the 2026 season gets underway. Worth remembering 20 years ago, Tony Rickardsson had a completely unsatisfactory end to a successful world championship career as well If he proves us wrong and has a strong season, with a top 6 finish and one or two wins, brilliant. But the odds are heavily stacked against him.

Rider control would be a good move, but that of course depends on who exactly has their finger on the button to decide who goes where. So many ideas in British Speedway over the years Ive been watching have been good in theory, but quickly tumbled into a shambles because self interest gets in the way.

Feels like the end of the season can't come soon enough across the board now. Two Premiership semi finals so far that have been as enjoyable as lying on the ground while someone stamp on your balls for two hours, and this one has been no better. Not just that tbh. The fact that they left the inside of the grandstand in a diabolical state. All of the tvs ripped out, the bar stock moved out, rubbish all over the floor, ceiling tiles ripped out. We had a lot of people up with us on Monday and it was almost embarrassing that they were given hospitality in such poor conditions. I was wary of putting anything down anywhere in case the removal men took it! Ive been told since that they were not supposed to remove anything from Perry Barr until after Monday, but it was done out of sheer spite.

Have to say having worked in the hospitality area at Perry Barr in the lalst two years that the attitude of certain senior members of the stadium staff on Monday left a rather bad taste in the mouth. One or two of them made it pretty clear that they held Birmingham Speedway and it's staff and supporters with contempt

Given the way they seem to be milking this for publicity, they'll have some real front if they decide to fine anyone for it!
