They want the money made from it, going towards the AMA. They would rent out the track and take the gate receipts, catering and etc. Obivious choices for the venue are ones with strong American connections- Coventry, Oxford and Wolverhampton. I would enjoy a meeting like this. See the minor International teams come here. However I think that the qualifiers should be at the same time as the World Cup making 6 meetings rather than 4 meetings. Should a World Cup be an international event.
-
It will be a qualifier meaning unless Great Britain do worse than Russia or Germany they will not be in the meeting.

I think there are u-21 test matches on the weekend of the Scanvidian GP. August 12th Pardubice CZE - POL junior meeting 13th Mseno CZE - POL junior meeting Apart from that I dont know. Tomazpolrl will know though or Jeffster if hes still here.

Was It Right:s
Hazzman replied to *+*+ paul_lee_rocks *+*+*'s topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
They done it the year before at Parken, Copenhague. -
Swindon are hosting it after Coventry turn it down. Although one of the better tracks in the country, there is no seating. (You can only buy standing tickets) Surely not allowed under FIM Rules.
-
Hopefully going to this one, not far from Leicester just a hour and half drive. Get tickets on the day. How much can Swindon hold? I dont expect it to be a sell-out with the high prices.
-
Edward Kennett has impressed me after Cardiff and the Test Match. I think Middlo we go with him in Swindon and then if we get through (which we should) put Havvy round Wroclaw.

There is now the loophole of having a casino on a sports ground which is great for income. Many football clubs are selling off their outer stadium buildings for casinos in which return comes high windfall.

Poland's Squad For Swc
Hazzman replied to Hazzman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yes your right espically with the Final in their own country. Just noticed Poland's Opening round is in Eskilstuna which Holta would know better. -
Former Grand Prix rider Rune Holta has been named in Poland's 12-man squad for this season's Speedway World Cup. The Norwegian star who rides for the Czestochowa club, is a Polish passport holder and is also a former Polish Champion. The Poles contest round two of the SWC against holders Sweden, Australia and qualifiers Germany at Eskilstuna on Tuesday, August 2. Their full squad is Tomasz Gollob (captain), Holta, Damian Balinski, Tomasz Chrzanowski, Jaroslaw Hampel, Pawel Hlib, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Janusz Kolodziej, Robert Kosciecha, Piotr Protasiewicz, Grzegorz Walasek and Karol Zabik. Interesting the Poles have all these great riders coming through such as Miskowiak and Rempala yet they choose Holta. P.S. Just realised Miskowiak had a falling-out with Polish authories over neglecting his Wroclaw wild card and riding in Britain.

If any Danes drop out, it will ended up being Bjarne because hes an uncolourful character. Then it would be a toss up between Iversen and Bjerre. The probelm is you are always going to get at least 2 riders from each major speedway nation. BSI would lose interest and television deals as Holta's selection at Eskilstuna tells us. However at the current from of certain riders for next year the line-up is going to be very young.

Personally I want him in the GPs and Richardson out.

Agreed Hackett! -
I think Gollob will be on a moped engine at Parken. The way he chop and changes!

What The Papers Say
Hazzman replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The Sun had four average sized articles in the build-up and have another today with Rickardsson and a picture proudly displaying Rickardsson on his bike with a Sun logo upon it. Have the nationals started listen to our calls? -
Did You Record The Gp ?
Hazzman replied to Chris-P's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Lol, my Uncle taped the meeting but missed the first 8 heats which wasnt a bad thing expect for missing Norris' attempt of being the first riders to lean in on TRick and pass him. -

According to the Sun newspaper, TRick's incredible wall of death was down to his Penski designed bike. -

Will The Gp Move To Wembley?
Hazzman replied to Blazeaway's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Wembley is an area which is rubbish about 5 pubs and 3 cafes. The stadium in Cardiff is bang in the middle of the city centre, you have shops, pubs, parks, castles, a bay down the road and plenty of hotels. If it was staged at Wembley you would be going for just the meeting, at Cardiff you are going for the day out. -

Somebody agrees with me! First eight heats were the quality shared by Brandon. However, remains a great day! -
I have to disagree with everyone. Great Day! Average Meeting!! First eight heats were absolute rubbish, the races were over by the 2nd lap and if it wasnt for the last few heats I didnt think much to the meeting and may think many people maybe with me on that one. However, large incidents and action plus the Brits all having their various bits of glory. It was great to watch the riders you fully known are capable of great riding (Hampel and Jonsson) do so well. The Norris/TRick incident was very 50/50. I cant blame Norris for going for it (why not when you are struggling) but I feel TRick was very quick in placing his bike down and I think the way he managed to stay on feet after being hit proves that. Nicholls looks like how he has in 2003, slowly getting better before getting a podium position. Richardson suprised me and I think he prefers them manmade tracks. TRick was untouchable expect for one person, Jaroslaw Hampel (slowly becoming Poland's Speedway idol no longer Tomasz). TRick's wall of death passing techinque was superb, something I have seen in a GP for a long time. Hampel was simply superb, his bikes were perfectly tuned and set and he has a skill at the gate. The Danes were great enterainment weren't they? Nicki Pedersen bumping off two riders but Crump's vigilante escapade was very unprofessional yet I was safrican americaning to myself. Andersen's fall was worthy of an Oscar and despite his great ride in Heat 16, he still for me remains not one of my favourites. It will be an interesting event at the World Cup when Denmark and Team GB lock horns again. The Aussies were terrible, Crump was inconsistent he deserved two of his exclusions and he seemed to lose it from his incident involving Andersen. Im sure he will be punished. Adams looked off the pace and despite Sullivan wanting to win points, if it was that bad of an injury why not just pass his spot to Bjerre someone was looking forward to ride. Rant over. It was a great dayout- a famous 8-7 loss on one of Cardiff's parks was stuff of legends. Despite not being able to get to Cardiff Bay because of the M50 being shut up. Cardiff is a superb city and the staff should be commended on their helpful attitudes yet I still feel that the cans and bottles searching was harsh. The crowd was great and the Poles even better. If I seen Ole Olsen I would give him a few serious to sort out the track ready straight at the start of the meeting. Plenty of travelling, feeling tired. However, its all just practice for the 30 hour Bygodszcz trip!! Still I will go next year and get my Dad come! One of his last meetings was one of the best Speedway meetings ever 1981 Wembley final. He seen Bradford, Hailfax, Belle Vue and Exeter yet he still has no massive interest in the sport. He knows of the riders and predicted TRick to win. Hes seen Penhall, Nielsen and the Collins brothers yet he isnt willing to go Cardiff. My expections have been lower yet everything we still works around the 2nd Saturday of June.

National Antem For Saturday
Hazzman replied to father jack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I had to sing the Welsh National Anthem as a child at my school. Land Of My Fathers whilst wearing a rugby kit, holding a rugby ball and holding a daffodil. How stereotypical! Why not show em that programme which was about public disorder in Cardiff. -
There is not a single bad seat in the whole stadium. I pay £27 on the day and I think its the best seat because you get to see the whole track plus you have the Poles and Swedes with you.

We are doign Cardiff Bay this year aswell. Leaving at about 10am from Leicester, get to Cardiff at 1pm, buy tickets. Go Cardiff Bay for a few hours till about 4.30pm. Park back up in the city- you can do it, done it the last two years. Then get in stadium for 6 or just above soak up the atmosphere.
