New Track For Milton Keynes
Storming Norman replied to Main Man's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Having publicised 'an in-principle agreement is in place to see a return of the sport to Milton Keynes in 2015' an update is well over due. I really hope it's going ahead? -
Peterborough Panthers 2015
Storming Norman replied to mudflaps's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
How wonderful that Rick, Julie and Readypower again ensure the Panthers take to the track. They must be special people - contributing so much and getting so little out of it. Rick and Julie, huge thanks for looking after the Panthers and saving one of the best race tracks in Britain. -
Who Is The Best Pl Number One Ever?
Storming Norman replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Joe Owen. He seemed to average 11 season upon season. Plus he was very exciting to watch. -
Stoke Potters Sadly, The Perennial Failures
Storming Norman replied to iannewsman's topic in National League Speedway
HalifaxTiger, was this reply seriously addressed to me? If it was, I suggest you reread my posting which I believe is a fair and balanced assessment of 2014 and isn't negative anyway. -
Stoke Potters Sadly, The Perennial Failures
Storming Norman replied to iannewsman's topic in National League Speedway
It will be interesting to read what Malcolm thinks. At the start of the season, the Stoke Promotion did seem to be trying to provide a competitive team and a better race track. Results have been better, home fixtures have been completed plus as you post, they won the NL Pairs. So it feels like a decent season. But I agree a non functioning web site and irregular Press Releases aren't good enough. Perhaps the ultimate test is have attendances improved? Malcolm, it's good things have improved, keep it going. -
Arena Essex V Kent Kings.
Storming Norman replied to Jonny the spud's topic in National League Speedway
I guess it's going to be a 'Len Silver moment' for Lakeside tonight with some fans arriving in shorts and sun glasses. The forecast showers were always localised. BBC weather forecast is now dry throughout race time tonight. Shame it's been called off on a warm evening. I predict dry pavements at 8pm - could someone locally advise if that is the case or even have a look at the track. -
Peterborough Vs Edinburgh - Tues 6th May
Storming Norman replied to scotchopper's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I've been very impressed with the new Peterborough Promotion so this postponement and handling of the communcations is really surprising and disappointing. C'mon Neil Watson, recover the situation - surely nothing prevents you explaining what the H&S issue was. Those travelling fans from Edinburgh deserve that at the very least. -
I'm impressed by the new Peterborough Promotion who seem to be really promoting their Club. I'm normally impressed by Newcastle as a high performing team but not so far this year. It's really important the PL delivers as usual on Sky tonight. The Showground is a great race track so it probably all rests on "Gorgeous" George motivating his inconsistent riders to give Peterborough a run for their money. C'mon Diamonds, give us a great meeting and maintain the high standard of entertainment we've had so far on Sky this season.
-
The IOW supported PL racing for a decade or more so the potential is there. There is still time for someone to be a hero and take over what is a ‘going concern’. I’m hoping someone like Gordon Pairman or Drillerman will decide to be thought of and remembered for saving a track that could otherwise die.
-
What clarification - of who typed the statement? Great news that there is real hope for the IOW. IOW has a really good history and is a going concern that shouldn't be allowed to die. A late decision could restrict which riders are available. So could be a genuine 'for the good of speedway' decision to allow Adam Ellis to again ride for the Islanders.
-
No news on the BSPA or Stoke web sites so seems like total silence from Malcolm Vasey / the Stoke promotion - should we guess? If Stoke get fined for not completing their fixtures I suggest the fine is shared amongst the riders to compensate for loss of earnings.
-
C'mon Malcolm get a double header arranged for Wednesday. A professional sport has responsibilities to complete its fixtures - to season ticket holders who paid upfront to see all fixtures, fans who expect every effort to be made and riders who've spend on machinery based on the publicised number of matches to complete fixtures. There's lots of drying wind around - surely this could go ahead either Wednesday or Thursday?

Philip, I think I remember a Terry Russell interview some years ago saying he'd become friends with his Sky counterpart and they went out to dinner socially together? Was that Barney Francis? Under context Terry could be highlighting that for less than Sky paid for Crystal v Fulham last Monday, they could renew the 5 year GB speedway contract giving Sky 300 hours of live speedway and about 900 hours of repeats. Plus Sky would retain those who only subscribe to Sky Sports because of the speedway.

It feels increasing strange that Kings Lynn team manager Rob Lyon is mentoring Peterborough's top rider Kenneth Bjeerre in the GPs. Even missing Kings Lynn matches to do so. As I watched the GP, I thought would Everton allow David Moyes to mentor Suarez when he's playing for Uruguay? Buster and Jonathan Chapman strike me as very passionate for their club so I'm surprised they have accepted Rob Lyon putting it second. Perhaps Matt Ford could coach Bomber in the GPs?

Enjoyable so far. Could be brilliant if they put dirt and water down. Only other downside is Bomber. -
Buxton V Usa Future Sunday 15th April
Storming Norman replied to Jayne's topic in National League Speedway
Great that you boys showed what you can do. Well done lads. Not many teams win at Buxton. Was it video'ed Main Man? -
Adam McKinna always seems willing and good value at this level, Jayne.
-
I intend going to see you boys at Rye. Will they all be 7 v 7 matches? Steve, an earlier post indicated you might not be coming over with your boys, shame if not?

American Eagles Touring Team
Storming Norman replied to TMGracing's topic in National League Speedway
Merry Xmas to TMG and all the Americans who have entertained us in the past. Gary, is it looking good for a 6th to 21st April tour? Any news which venues or areas of the UK? Good to hear you plan on being strong enough to win some meetings. You boys need to keep that competitive reputation you all worked so hard to earn. Could 2012 be the year of the Fish(back)? -
American Touring Team October 2011
Storming Norman replied to SteveEvans's topic in National League Speedway
Steve, how do feel the tour went? Although you didn't quite manage a win on this tour, I hope you boys enjoyed it and will be coming back in 2012? -

You boys fly two weeks today. Steve, can you confirm the tracks and dates yet so we can plan our diaries and work? -

Storming Norman replied to SteveEvans's topic in National League Speedway
Yes exciting names Steve but the loss of Fishback weakens you hugely. Are you planning on replacing him with another No 1 or do you think the boys will have improved enough to give the very competitive matches we've seen on nearly every previous tour?
