What about Northampton?
Derrickn replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Can't help thinking that that is in bad taste. What Kenny did was nothing to make fun of. -

More than one year left on the lease. There is more to the Odsal story than we are being told.Someone in the local paper suggested that the stock car people were considering legal action against the rugby club.My.guess is that the rugby club will have to pay compensation to the stock car people, but there will be no more motorsport at Odsal. -
I remember him breaking the track record at Halifax, leaving Kenny Carter in his wake.He said he had been using his"gold top"engine, whatever that meant.

They must have forgotten Oxford ,they said all teams except Birmingham are returning, which is not true. -

Bradford hoped the crowd would move an-mass from Halifax, but it didn't.There were unique circumstances that kept Halifax crowds healthy, certainly by today's standards, but there was no way they could be replicated at Odsal. -
Sir Philip joins Speedway Futures

I'm not sure The betting companies would be interested in speedway, all gambling is open to "fixing",but speedway perhaps more than most.Engine failures, falls, missing the gate, getting filled in,,perhaps too much risk for the bookies. -
Probably the most likely outcome is that there will be no league speedway on tv for at least two years.
-
No,from what I have read, discovery is staying with Warner Bros.as is TNT USA,but Netflix is taking TNT international. All this could take up to 12-18 months to finalise,so I guess a lot of things are in limbo for now.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
Derrickn replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think Yarmouth were the first visitors to the shay in Halifax,in the late 1950s,I'm sure I saw something on you tube about it. -
, TNT international are going to Netflix,as part of the deal to buy Warner Bros. streaming service. So it could be all up in the air again.Discovery are staying with Warner Bros.

How to get Speedway more coverage on the Media
Derrickn replied to Knowle's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
But he would have been disqualified. anyway,as there were two riders with yellow helmets. -
There were only 3 stock car meetings last year, and I think they have moved them to Bradford.
-
That's the one.

There was a doctor, who's name I can't remember, back in the 60s/70s,who many riders with a broken scaphoid went to,and he seemed to be able to get them back racing quite quickly.

Eurosport, terrible professionalism.
Derrickn replied to Odds On's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Correct me if I am wrong, but as I understand it,Eurosport is no more, and Warner Brothers have moved all that was previously on Eurosport to TNT,at a cost of £31 per month. The cycling fraternity are up in arms,as previously free to view events like the Tour De France will now only be available on subscription to TNT.I don't know how this will affect Speedway, but the signs are not good. -
Bring Speedway back Bristol / Newport area
Derrickn replied to Youhave2minutes's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Or anywhere else, there is a track ready to go in Bradford, but nobody wants to promote speedway there, and with good reason,it would lose money hand over fist. -

Their coverage of cycling is usually pretty good. -
No air fence in the 60s,so track would have been wider. Also,Frank Varey knew how to prepare a track, and there were also rakers dragging the dirt back.
