  1. If everybody used an adblocker, there would be no free forums.A football forum I am on charges £10 a year for add free viewing, would you pay that on here?.
  2. They should tarmac all starting grids, would speed the meeting up no end.
  3. I thought he was very good.Sounded like someone who enjoyed his night at the speedway.
  4. It was a six team league that killed the National league in the early sixties, and paved the way for an amalgamation with the Provincial league in 1965 to form the British league, which brought about a golden era in British speedway. As I see it,the only way to save speedway in Britain is for the same to happen again. Some will say there are not enough quality riders for one league, but many of the Provincial league riders were hardly household names, yet many developed into top riders.I know that in the sixties and seventies, most riders had other jobs, but maybe that's the way it will have to be again.
  5. Thanks for the correction, but if the Monarchs can do it,why not Glasgow. I think Plymouth and Poole use the same production company to reduce costs, but I don't know how many people tune in to their streams.
  6. I thought the streaming they did last year could only be viewed outside a 25 mile radius of Glasgow,so aimed more at opponents supporters than home fans.
  7. We just used to put some sawdust down, and got on with it.
  8. Why not let other team members take more than one r/r ride.Say if your number one was missing, let your numbers 3and5 take two of his rides each.
  9. That was over 18 months ago.The rugby are back at Odsal, but not happy as the track has reduced the width of thier pitch to less than 60 metres.
  10. I live a few miles from Odsal, and although the track should provide good racing,it's such a depressing stadium, and I just can't see there being enough interest to sustain a team, even in the NDL.It's a strange situation, when Bradford closed at Greenfield, which was a nice little stadium, due to poor crowds, that looked like the end of speedway in West Yorkshire, yet just a couple of year's later,Halifax reopened with huge crowds. There was just something about Halifax that was never repeated when the Dukes moved to Odsal.Sad to say,I don't see speedway returning to West Yorkshire any time soon.
  11. How many fans actually come to a meeting carrying a shovel?.
  12. The shay was unique in that as well as being a super racetrack,it was five minutes walk from Halifax town centre, and a Saturday race night as well,so a complete night out for many.It also helped that in the early years, most of the team lived within 10 miles of the track,so a real sense of them being 'our ' team.
  13. Sadly, there are more than a "few" shady characters in Bradford. It's a shadow of the city it was 50 years ago.
  14. Which station did you use?.Low Moor,on the Halifax line is nearest. It's a fair old drag uphill to Horsfall if you use either of the city centre stations.Plenty of buses you could use though.
  15. Sort of,there are houses around the site, but they are not that close.Does not really matter,as it will never happen.
  16. Without taking out the athletics track, there is no way Horsfall stadium could be used for speedway.Another problem is the football pitch is of the synthetic 4g variety,so defiantly no bikes allowed on that surface.Interestingly,Bradford fc 's former home at Park Avenue staged noise tests for speedway, just before the stadium closed, but nothing came of it.
  17. Looks like they are keeping the shale track,so maybe hope for speedway yet,in years to come.
  18. New promoters announced for the stock cars, taking over both Odsal and Owlerton stocks.Talking of possibly a new surface at Odsal, though I don't know if that means removing the shale, which cut up badly towards the end of last year's season, admittedly after quite heavy rain.
