  1. Side looks very good to me. I’m surprised to see that Tai Proctor is on such a low average. Should be there or there abouts at the end of the year
  2. The new track looks fantastic and I can’t wait to make the trip over when it reopens.
  3. The way I read the story in the Star was that the lapsed fan was just one of their target audiences and not their sole business model. Other than screening the current championship teams racing against each other, I’m not sure what else the BSN could be designed to do. Ive read here lots of times that speedway should be aiming to pull in fans outside the existing fan base, and I can’t see a problem in aiming to do that. What do you think that BSN should be doing if not showing the current championship. What else could they show?
  4. Did they have a few options though? It looks to me that they had very few, probably exhausting all other avenues, which is why they have come in almost 2 points under the limit. Birmingham unfortunately seem to be in the same situation.
  5. I think that changed since Brexit. I believe the exception is when a rider has a work permit in place already (I remember reading about some riders being issued permits if they have raced here previously).
  6. My point is that a conveyer belt of new talent isn't going to be available to Speedway because it isn't accessible to most people, which is what I think Give Me a B was saying. Nothing wrong with his post. Unless there are schemes to make it easier for those people who are not fortunate to have parents pay for everything, the emergence of new talent capable of becoming stars will always be rare. I believe Poland for example have much more support in place for 'newbies' and a bigger fanbase (therefore more interest from them), so they do have plenty of new talent coming through. But then again they have the money to do that.
  7. You're right, it is one of the cheapest forms of motorsport and I don't doubt that. Certainly not cheap and accessible to the average family or teenager though.. nor is any motorsport, so entry into the sport is always going to be be restrictive in comparison to ball or racket sports for example.
  8. I've not been posting on this forum for long, but it's been long enough to know that nobody should take this poster seriously. He's always winding people up and looking for a reaction.
  9. If Oxford were to race on a Friday, then almost half the teams in the league would race on a Friday. The result of this would be that Oxford would race around half their home fixture on their alternative race day wouldn’t it? So they wouldn’t be racing on a Friday anyway unless they raced, say, every other week. Someone mentioned that Polish club’s often use the same race day. Poland works very differently as they only race at home every 2 weeks. So using the same race day works there. I can’t see how it would in the UK unless fixtures were to become fortnightly. That’s before you consider that speedway in GB doesn’t use a squad system. So as soon as riders are injured, you have a requirement for guests, meaning teams become vastly under strength when they can’t find one as every team is already racing that day. Under GB speedway’s existing set up, I think it makes sense to restrict the number of clubs using the same race night.
  10. It says over 30 meetings and the Speedway Star states that each club will be visited twice.
  11. I’m not sure that’s going to be the case. I subscribe to Eurosport just for the Speedway and my team has never featured in there. I suspect that will be the case for a lot of speedway fans who are not necessarily supporters of a Premiership club.
  12. Agreed. I've always felt frustrated that Championship racing has been absent from BT and Eurosports shows. Seems to be a very good move and I'll be interested to see more details when they become available. I'll definitely be supporting this.
  13. Surely you are getting it right if you have as many titles to your name as Poole do, regardless of how you get there?
  14. Why would a stadium that sells its own food and drink allow you to bring your own? It’s a common and expected practice in most stadiums, or any establishment like a pub or restaurant for example. Would you expect to take your own beer to a pub?
  15. I assume they will still have had significant overheads during that year, such as promoters wages, stadium rental, rate contributions etc (this is pure guesswork, as I have no knowledge of Belle Vue's agreement with its promoters or landlords). So those losses could be speedway losses.
  16. I have no issue with people's ideas, but constantly bashing British Speedway and claiming to have easy answers to a very complex and difficult problem is different. Criticism should be constructive for it to be taken seriously, not one sided and unbalanced.
  17. Yet another armchair marketing expert! I assume you have successfully put your ideas into practice for existing businesses? It’s all very easy to tell everybody you have all the answers, when the reality is probably that you have no more experience of running a club than anybody else posting on this forum. Tell us what credibility you have and why you are any more capable or running the show than the current lot. We had a torrid time at Newcastle last year and Rob Grant explored several avenues to attract newcomers, including feee ticket giveaways. People wouldn’t even come for free! I know he can run a business because he runs one successfully already. Speedway is a different kettle of fish. Are you really the promotional expert you like to portray yourself to be?
  18. Good looking side. Ruml and Macdonald will be very strong reserves, alongside 2 very good heat leaders.
  19. Exactly. I don’t get the point either. I enjoyed the reveal and it will have been well received by Edinburgh supporters. Why should the promotion ignore their existing fan base by delivering the expected or the norm and who is to say that was a waste of Edinburgh’s time? Their reveal was not a marketing opportunity, but some supporters will take literally any opportunity to shoot down the sports’s promoters. There are lots of people on this forum trying to convince others that they are knowledgeable in marketing and promotion, but I doubt many have any experience in this area. I for one am convinced that promoters are not idiots as many would like you to believe.
  20. Sounds like they all need to sign you up as their commercial manager. Another marketing expert who has all the answers. It was a team reveal. Why would anyone who is not a speedway fan be remotely interested in that?
  21. And the exaggeration of the year goes to…..
  22. Agree with this! A good catch for Birmingham and I’m surprised his average is as low as it is. He was riding well for Poole last year.
