Another wasted trip to Oxford. When will I learn, What with the train ticket and taxi over £100 wasted tonight. When will I learn that the Oxford promoter will not make tough decisions regarding postponing meetings. Some times us fans do not help. I noticed the Leicester promotion who called off their meeting yesterday getting slated by some of their fans yesterday for calling off the meeting in the morning. The Leicester promotion should be applauded for making an early call. The outcome of yesterday is that I will only return to Oxford when its a dry forecast but I'm likely to give the Leicester promotion the benefit of the doubt based on their forecasting skills over the last two seasons.

Putting off buying train & stadium tickets for this until the last minute, the forecast looks bad.

Poole Pirates Vs Redcar Bears 5th June
SJA replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I wouldn't normally come down from London for this fixture, but its going to be my first visit to Poole this season, to watch Vinnie. I've seen him a couple of times for the Cubs and the main difference this year is that he is staying on the bike. I hope it works out for him and a generous local helps him out machinery wise. Think this will be a comfortable home win by 16-20 points. -
That's not great I'm on the 17:30 out of Liverpool Street. Hopefully this will not be another wasted journey. I wish Ipswich offered a steaming service for their home meetings like Lions TV for iffy days like today.

Well except flights, airport hotel, van, mechanic, fuel card, signing on fee etc......

I think you are on the wrong continent; I would be looking towards South America as the specified hair test is usually to find marching powder. Out of blood within 5 days but stays in hair for 90.

I like watching NDL and seeing the next big thing. It reminds me of watching a very young Michael Lee and how he developed. I''m not sure it will be viewed as a golden generation here is my take on them; Flint - totally stalled I hope moving away from Berwick helps him develop. Bickley - World class at 13 but a step back each year, the most overrated rider of this generation. Gilkes, - Needs to have brake through year in 2024. Rowe, - Riding in Poland helps him develop Kemp - Its now or never for Drew Palin - I always viewed as a one trick pony on larger tracks Thompson twins - Always appeared on the outside of Team GB structure in the past, I cannot understand why they don't ride in Poland for experience. Dan looks to be having a great start to the season. Or do we now focus development on the two Max's and Ashton?

If you run r/r at two this allows Jason and Emil to ride together in heat one. Based on seeing Leicester 3 times this season Frick often starts the meeting with his worst ride so could get Ipswich off to a heat advantage.

With regards to this, (and coming from a HCB background) many people on here are unable to distinguish from the Can he...(the law of the land) and should he (an individuals opinion based on the strength and direction of said individual's moral compass). The answer for the first is irrefutably YES. The answer to the second is......

Witches v Lions KOC 2nd Leg April 4th

I agree. Jason, Emil and Dan will almost get Ipswich over the line without the others having to make great contributions. -
Lions v Witches knockout cup 1st April

Who would you bring in? -
Of course she did, I stand corrected.

Congratulations on Leicester on appointing a new female Co Promoter. I understand that she has basically been running the club for a number of years behind the scenes. We need more women represented at the top of the sport. I can only think of Debbie Hancock in the past and Julie Reading at Sheffield.

I guess that is what happens when you run a competition to design the race suit.

Interested to see that Pidcock Motorcycles have extended their Stadium Sponsorship for another two seasons.http://www.leicesterspeedway.com/news.php?extend.32437 One advantage Leicester have over many clubs is an exclusive lease on the stadium which provides them with a naming rights opportunity. All the same its great to see they have secured the deal.

Surely those images that came out over the weekend of the excavator struggling with the conditions at Plymouth must be considered a PR mistake. I cannot believe more has not been made of the very poor conditions. Compare those images to the ones released by Leicester of their new training track and the early winter work that has obviously been going on with the main track.

I recall driving through snow on the way to the final one I attended which I think could have been the last meeting at Newport.
-
I am surprised that a club has not tried to organise a meeting over the festive period. I always liked the New Year Classic at Newport and it always appeared well supported. Besides the weather I wonder what puts a club off trying it?

King’s Lynn 2024 serious team predictions
SJA replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
On that basis it will be interesting to see which British riders are announced at Oxford or even Birmingham. -
If my understanding is correct Ashton will be at Oxford as their rising star.
-
Surely Phil Morris has the necessary skills set if he is allowed to implement the changes that he feels are necessary.
-
Have you factored in the British discount for Harris, Kerr & Wright?
-
Surely it is very risky to sign seven riders before the AGM when the points limit has not been agreed? Or is it a case of the deal has been done on the points limit but not announced...

Travelled up from London for this And witnessed something I have not see before. Leicester sent out someone who all the Leicester fans appeared to know to update the fans queuing for tickets on the state of the track and what was happening inside the stadium. When i made in it about 15 minutes before it was called off his description of conditions appeared accurate. I am aware that the club are getting slated, but I feel they need to be congratulated for trying to be honest on what was happening.

I had a conversation with one of the Promoters, Dave ??? last weekend. From what he said they don't make any of the financial decisions about the club. Everything is passed down from the Owners. I hope they new owner, whoever they be are either a hands on Owner/Promoter who is financially savvy or a Speedway Person who wants to remain in the background and appoints Promoters to run the club as they see fit.
