  1. I think Leicester should be congratulated for their use of social media in the last few weeks. They were the first, if not only club to update their supporters on what their plans were, then they announce the departure of their best rider (with Max confirming this 15 minutes later) but within 12 hours announce the signing of Thompson. Anyone would think they actually have put some thought into how they use social media & have a strategy. If this is the case can other clubs please take note....
  2. If my understanding is correct Chris has received two offers for the club and that he has turned them both down as they don't meet his valuation. If he does not receive another he is willing to close the club down for 2026.
  3. Correct SD was told it was not necessary.
  4. I am pleased he is.... He also mentioned that he asked for an meeting in June to discuss the situation but it was turned down. If the Leicester promotion/management could see the approaching car crash with Birmingham and Oxford not running in the Prem why couldn't the other promoters?
  5. In my opinion this post has hit the nail on the head with regards to the present situation of British Speedway.
  6. An there was Kurtz on the front cover of this weeks Star saying he does not have a free weekend to spend in the UK and that applies for most of the riders in Poland. So that also means loosing riders in addition to the SGP starts like Douglas, Becker and Masters at Leicester alone. One division would only work if you stuck to the two fixed race nights without exception and good luck in getting Poole and the clubs that race Friday, Saturday and Sunday to change race nights for the good of the sport.
  7. I agree with asset value but there are so few actual assets that a club ownes.
  8. For those that make it net profit x 25 is the standard way to value a business.
  9. Its local competition that impacts clubs attendance more than people think. Take Leicester as an example. They have a successful football club, the most successful English rugby team, the most successful Basketball team, Netball champions and county cricket to compete against for attendance, sponsorship money, and local media content. Ipswich, Kings Lynn and Poole do not have these issues. Leicester are currently placed fifth or sixth in the local market.
  10. The contact is less self employed "provision of a service" and more a fixed term contact that terminates at 23:59 on 31st October.
  11. The issue as I found it was the contract is not precise, it does not specify many details. I was shocked, a good barrister would hold the clubs to it. I would describe it as lazy. But having looked at the 2025 rule book anyone from the legal profession can find holes all over it.
  12. Having seen a 2024 riders contract unless the wording has changed it would NOT be null and void.
  13. Totally agree that if one league it would be at best at Championship level less a heat leader and a second string, replaced by two 2 point riders, The issue isnt so much the riders in the top polish league but those in the second division. This problem would only go away if they kept the fixed race nights of Monday and Thursday.
  14. I cannot see the point of individual clubs attending such a show. Even if they were given the space they would still incur costs putting together banners, dressing the space etc. Then who do you get to staff the stand? The Owner, Promoter, Team Manager, Riders or volunteers? I would rather clubs focus on well coded social media posts aimed at potential new spectators. O know of one club that ran a small Facebook campaign aimed at men aged 25-40 in specific locations who were members of non speedway motor bike interest groups. This would appear a better use of any marketing money.
  15. Its stated as being the 6th January 2026 in this weeks Speedway Star.
  16. OK, I can see three reasons for delaying the AGM... 1. Provides Sheffield with additional time to complete the sale of the Club 2. Allows Northampton the maximum time to decided if they want to race in 2026 3. Maybe, just maybe their is a broadcast deal in the offering that is dependant on other factors. Who knows.... but I would imagine the points limit for both divisions will have been agreed.
  17. I don't see value in Fricke's average as their is little opportunity to improve it much next season so I would not have him in my team for 2026.
  18. You may just want to check that. I was told this directly by a former Premiership Promoter.
  19. If my understanding is correct the Lions will have the last but one pick based on finishing runner up in the Grand Final. And remember that if a rising star is picked earlier in the ballot and turns down the offer they are automatically withdrawn from that years r/s scheme.
  20. So the Leicester team for 2026 based on how Mr D has built previous teams is likely to be British based riders, and little change. So I hope for Leicester's sake their is a change at rising star. The top 6 have an average of 42.14 and Fricke has an average of 9.89. If they don't have Fricke, keep the other riders with Douglas as the new Number 1, they have 3.75 plus a bit for if the discount for British riders for their new rider.
  21. And don't forget the ever powerful Michal Sikora will be in the background pulling the strings as much as possible,
