GP REFS
sjw ministerofport replied to beercellar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think Sullivan just won it. The question is what is going to happen when there is a dead heat, does the ref just decide for himself or should there be a run off. Here are just a few refs decisions that i have felt were wrong this year. 1 All four riders in incidents after the first turn. 2 Not excluding Nicki when he bought down Greg. (That allowed Greg to take the law into his own hands) surely wrong. 3 No front mudguard. 4 Allowing races to be run with faulty starting gate 5 Slowing down to gain advantage. -

I'm not sure about the money, as for the tickets they will not be on sale until a few weeks before the GP. Should be a great trip -

Yes Fireblade i will be going, but i would still like to see the old days of the local derbys return.

The more teams the better that's what i say. Just wish there was some where for Cradley to get a new home.
-
That is very good news, hope it works out

Every Speedway Track Open Or Closed In Gb
sjw ministerofport replied to sjw ministerofport's topic in Years Gone By
Thanks RogH. for your help. -
Just wondered how many tracks there had ever been in GB. And of course the ones that are still open. Cradley Heath. Hyde road. Leicester. Wembley. Halifax.
-
I hope your right Greyhoundp. i think they should knock down part of Merry Hill and fit a new stadium in there.
-
No Greyhoundp it was LongEaton, i used to watch Ivor Brown at Cradley Heath. But that day i went to Long Eaton, you are right about the facilities pretty much the same. I am forgetful now especially when it come to finding my way to the ballot box for Dudley council elections. Oh and i had some special four letter words for the council and the builders who sold our track out but i can't remember what they are, i don't think they are in the dictionary, can't be sure though i can't find it.
-
i only went to Long Eaton once, in the depths of winter. Ivor Brown was loaning out a bike at a trainning school. Anyway we were suposed to be going toLong Eaton by car but were let down. So we eneded up going on a motorbike. It was raw cold and by the time we got to Dudley it started to snow. No gloves no crash helmet just a short jacket what a journey. When we got there i was frozen and could not stop shaking. Some one the week before had busted up the bike so we couldn't have a go.The journey back was even worse we stopped at a bikers cafe, by this time my one brain cell had frozen, my mate bought me a coffee. When i tried to hold the cup i could not stop shaking and the contents were going evey where. The group of bikers who were sitting opposite must have thought i was scared of being in their cafe. I never want to feel that cold again. Sorry if that is boring, but its all part of the wonderful memories Speedway has given to me.

Looks like you got a good deal Joanne, good luck to you. It looks like the city hotel gives agants blocks of rooms to sell and they charge differently. When i fist tried to book the city hotel it kept coming up full, so to be honest i'm just glad to have got a place even though it is a bit dearer. -
