I can think of 3 possible reasons: 1 Lawson knew Cairns wasn't going to be invited back so it worked for Poole 2 Lawson was just looking after himself and his average and it just happened to affect Cairns 3 He wasn't, Cairns was just beating him It held Bewley back for one season whilst he adjusted. Could be the same for Cairns hence Poole letting him go?

Seems a strange one. But Poole have a history of getting these things right. Of the youngsters that don't get brought back they don't tend to progress as expected (Hagon, Foord, Perry). Makes me wonder if there is another reason for not bringing Cairns back, and 'average doesn't fit' is just an excuse

Nothing, but they finished top of the league and took the playoff final to a super heat. After last year, I think Oxford would take that. That made a huge difference to the Glasgow season. I don't see where Oxford will get a rider like that (song 2.5 to their average), and I think that they have went too big on the top 3. Pre Nagel, Glasgow struggled for heat advantages that year and relied on winning a lot of last heat deciders. From memory the super heat in the playoff final (the one that really mattered) was the only one that went against the Tigers. Masters, Brennan and Howarth will struggle to increase their averages, Kileen might struggle to improve his as his partner will regularly beat him. Lot of pressure on the bottom 3 to be picking up 3rd places and they will often be facing opposite numbers with much higher averages. If it all clicks though they could win silverware. Looking forward to them coming to Ashfield next year, that match already looks like one to watch

There is a bigger risk in that these days, as you have to change your race night to move up a league (one of the reasons neither Glasgow nor Poole are moving up). The fans you attract on a Friday or Saturday night might not be the same people that want to go on a Monday or Thursday night. If your intention is to race in the Premiership, then start there and build your fan base with people that are willing and able to go that night

Motorbikes hadn't been invented then, so it would be hard to ban Brits from taking part in a sport that was invented about 70 years after the Crimean War, or a GP series that was only thought up about another 70 years later

Irrelevant to this thread as that druggie clown won't ever be back at Glasgow after him and his nose ruined our 2024 season. Double no after he let his wife make a right show of herself giving it laldy about him being on the wrong painkillers! For the record it was a 20 month ban from April 2024, with a £2,000 fine and him having to pay for regular drug tests to prove he's clean. I'd be very surprised if he had paid the fine or taken the tests, as the chances of him being signed anywhere at the end of the 2 years are slim, which would mean that his ban has not yet started.

There were that many gaps in the UK calendar last year that it might not be a big problem. If both end up in the same division in Poland, then it might not be any harder to have multiple riders unavailable the same night for the same reason. If they could make it work, it'd be a really strong top 2. Big 'if' though

Cairns is a better prospect but also has a higher average (about 0.75 higher). The rumour is that he doesn't fit the Pirates jigsaw this year. Time will tell though Workington? No one else seems to be going there, and according to Comets fans Glasgow have signed pretty much all of the Comets riders from last year for significantly more money!

It looks to me like the u21 riders (essentially your reserves) are now far more valuable than anyone else in the team. Cue u21s wanting number 1 money. Its all well and good in Poland where there are lots of talented u21 riders, but there are much fewer in Britain and riders tend to develop later. You don't have to dig too far before you are looking at having 2026 NDL riders being asked to jump into the Premiership just to fill a quota

You chose to not mention the bit where Cooks back wheel then throws up mud from the centre green. It would still be debated if it was anyone else. And Poole 100% won the title with the help of a bad refereeing decision. Will Cairns was blatantly warming his back tyre and admitted that he had done so, so should have been excluded in that race. Poole were the strongest team in the league but Scunthorpe should have been champions.

Surely Jody Scott would be top of the list for bringing back. I've not seen anything yet about whether a team can or can't have 2 riders over 8 (or whatever average) for 2027. So I'm going to guess Klindt and Wright would both be wanted back. If not, then maybe Ace Pijper as I expect him to be back. Redcar seem to be about the only team that someone hasn't claimed to have already signed Tate Zischke, so maybe I should start that rumour 🤣

Tbh Richard Lawson is the only Pirates rider that I might recognise if I walked by them in the street so I just went with it
