  1. There is no doubt that financially the play offs are a huge boost for speedway and I'm not one of those that would moan if my team finished the season top but then lost out, the rules are clear at the start of the season. The only problem I have is that the whole season often boils down to who is injured at the crucial time of the season. Last year there can be little doubt that Swindon were very lucky with the Wolves injuries and this season both semis were influenced by the same, with the BV/KL tie virtually turning into a non-event. But the Poole/Somerset 2nd leg was pure drama, not much passing but the aggregate scores made for gripping entertainment, and gave Shouty even more reason to get excited lol
  2. I think the problem is the hyperbole from one or two Poole fans just winds others up, quite deliberately in one case. It was a decent comeback by the Pirates but one that I certainly expected them to achieve given the match circumstances. I said on the night that heat 4 was crucial and I stand by that, although of course we will never know. Having said that Bomber certainly did the business in some style to clinch it
  3. You lost Brady because of his own reckless riding which also took out Jack and was the match winner for you. Poole won by 2 points over 30 heats, almost half of them against 4 Rebels & a useless guest.
  4. You’ve managed to make Somerset not having a number 8 more of a factor than Holder being taken out of the meeting!
  5. I agree, always used to be the way but hardly ever happens nowadays. To be honest a NL no 8 would have made no difference to the outcome, heat 4 was the deciding factor as I said during the meeting but that’s speedway, luck was on Poole’s side & Bomber’s final heat was awesome, he can still do it, unfortunately not with any consistency nowadays.
  6. This shows the whole problem with play offs in speedway, both semis looking to be decided by the teams least affected by injury
  7. I don’t get the shock, Somerset are down to 5 riders (and that’s being generous as I’m including Howarth) and they’re running out of steam. Heat 4 was the deciding factor.
  8. Surely the two injuries help the Pirates as the Rebels are already using r/r so down to 5 riders
  9. Interesting how we see things different ways, I thought the team manager got involved where he shouldn't have done & inflamed the situation, which had pretty well calmed down anyway!
  10. Just confirms what Lemo said, unnecessarily complicated. Nominated race, put who you want in, subject to the 7 ride maximum.
  11. I ask myself the same every time I watch BT sport, although that’s not a woman screaming!
  12. I fully appreciate you are, as usual, just stirring the rubbish but, even by your standards, that’s pretty comical. It wasn’t a great meeting last night but nor was it an awful one. I enjoyed it more than the match at Poole the previous week so to say the racing was so much better at Wimborne Road is, in my opinion, is just plain wrong. There was a fair bit of passing, almost all by Rebels, and some good close racing, Klindt in particular got stuck in. And there was the bonus of the Brady Kurtz show, what a bizarre performance!
  13. If they got to the play offs they’d be a danger but having the NSS as a home track wouldn’t help
  14. You’re very unlucky then, far more good meetings at the Oak Tree & very few mediocre
  15. Was a cracking meeting after a slow start, 2 great races between Doyle & Cook and several other good ones, Belle Vue fully deserved their win, shame they left it so late bringing in Berge.
  16. Yes but that way he can make out what a great against the odds victory it was!
  17. I'm in the midlands next week and thinking of going to Wolverhampton on Monday and Birmingham on Wednesday. I've found plenty of details about parking options on the Brummies website but nothing on Wolves, can anyone tell me if there's plenty of parking on site?
  18. I was booking time off from work around it but the fixed race nights make it more difficult unless you want to go right up north, and even then there's plenty of blank dates. So I think I'll save my money and hope that Belle Vue v Somerset next Monday restores my faith a little!
  19. But do many people really care any more? Speedway is in a complete mess, a team's dropped out of the top league half way through, there seems to be confusion over how this effects the averages, last night's meeting was a total bore fest on an awful track. Last year I did a couple of speedway road trips, was planning on at least one this year but really losing all enthusiasm, which is a shame after the best part of 50 years!
  20. I’ve been to lots of meetings at both & think Somerset is a massively better racetrack than Poole.
  21. Short of just showing Belle Vue & Somerset alternate weeks I’m not sure what can be done
