Jason Doyle is now number one for Birmingham in the new averages, so has there ever been a rider who was number 1 for an Elite team and a Premier team a the same time?

Rebels V Diamonds Fri 28th June
oldtimer replied to rustyre bel1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
WOW, what a cracker this was, if you missed it buy the video, best match I have seen this year. So many highlights but first the lows, Kyle out after heat 1, Alex over the back straight fence and being announced as withdrawn from meeting, and then the highs. Alex back with two wins, led but moved out Worrall in second to let Nick through for a 5-1, Heat 10 Doyle last coming out of second bend, moved into second then passed Tully, Tully briefly passed back then Doyle got him again, Heat 13 Josh from the back to take both Diamonds to win, Lewis Rose never seen the track, beats Tully and Lindgren for a 5-1 and always in the mix, made Robson fight hard to get past in one race and looked to have quick equipment, sign him up. Diamonds quicker out the gate in many races but Rebels rode their socks off, I could go on and on, awesome match and you could not pick rider of the night and in a very generous gesture they were all awarded that honour ands all received £50. -

With Schramm now declared since my above post, this match could go to the wire. Schramm scored 5+4 and 5+2 on his two visits to the Oak Tree this season and that was from the number two berth, he could be a match winner for the Diamonds at reserve. Time for Tom to step up to the plate for the Rebels. This will be the first match I have seen since May 17th (rain offs and Hols). ps my hair dryer post was a joke! -

Bad news about Stefan and Rebels penalised by another stupid rule (god there are so many) regarding a reserve replacement. Diamonds have won away at Berwick, Ipswich, and Rye House in the League but Rebels top 4 are much stronger and normally would expect an easy win. However if all of Rebels top 4 don't perform, then the Diamonds reserve Lewis Kerr should score more than Rebels reserves,Tom Perry and the National League guest and make it a close match. -
Cliffeboy, of course you are right. I find as you get older I get more and more like Victor Meldrew, it's just that such a good sport is spoilt by so many stupid rules.

Just read my post again Cliffboy, and just as I thought cannot see any mention of the word LUCKY. Just making a point regarding the tactical, which if I was a Lions supporter, last nights result wouldn't persuade me to think it was the best rule ever pulled out of the BSPA hat. The double points farce is one of the many reasons I don't try to persuade friends to go to speedway anymore.

Good performance by Rebels with Alex out of form and Stefan injured. As Rebels supporter I'm pleased they won, but this result is just another example of what's wrong with the sport, as best team lost. Lions would have won by 2 without the Rebels tactical

Making Up The Numbers .its Getting A Joke Now!
oldtimer replied to speedwaysliders's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The answer is reduce the number of injuries, so you don't need a guest. To do this you make the tracks bigger which won't happen or make the bikes slower and less powerful. The current speedway bike is not suited to the size of tracks we have, how many injuries do you get in Long Track racing? -
A sad day in the history of Somerset Speedway, track looked wet before start of heat 1 (due to watering not rain). I have seen it wetter, but there was extra shale on tonight and riders filled in after a lap. Only good things were it wasn't the SKY meeting and Stefan recovered from what looked a certain hospital visit crash. You could see by 8-30pm that the blading was not going to make much difference. I usually judge people by how I would act myself, and if I was a promoter I would have been on that centre green to make the abandonment announcement myself and apologising to the fans, many who would have travelled a lot further than myself. A poor show, and hopefully matters will be corrected by a free programme and car parking at a future match for those holding rain off tickets.

It is my understanding that the foam fence is a lot more expensive than the air bag.

This result means GB will win the five match Test Series because Doyle, Davies, Grjczonek and Nick Morris will not be available for the last two tests. -

Anybody know, what takes priority, a riders League match or a Test Match? -

I feel sorry for the Somerset promotion, three expensive rain offs not good. Weather forecast is good for Friday so Pairs should be ok, however i won't be there, but good luck to Jason and Josh. -

Very true Shadders. I wonder why Nick Morris not picked for Aussie, perhaps team had to be declared before he resumed from injury. If you wanted the best Aussie team then Jason, Nick and Josh would be your pick but confused about Alex in the Aussie team, I thought he was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire? -

Statman you'r right (as always) found it in International, never scrolled down to International section only looked at Individual and shared events and general. -
I expect Scunthorpe to keep the score closer than they did on Monday, but should still be an easy win for the rampant Rebels. Hope Stefan shows the form he did at Scunny.

Surprised nothing about Test Match on any of the threads. Rebels Alex, Josh and Jason in Aussie team for first match this Thursday 30th May. It's a five match series, the last two matches are at Workington on 17th August and Newcastle on 18th August. Rebels have two away matches on both those dates Berwick and Glasgow on their Scottish tour, If the same trio are selected for these test matches, do Somerset have three guests?
