Why were all the riders wearing Torun City Of Sport race jackets? -

I pity the people sitting near you who want to watch speedway in a sensible manner. -
Who cares, Team GB won't qualify for the final, and it's a Mickey Mouse competition with the stupid Joker.

				Wildcards 2010
oldtimer replied to WembleyLion's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There should be no Brits in the GP in 2010 except for Cardiff when obviously to have a couple of Brits will attract more ticket sales. For GP's in other countries the local customers don't care if there are any Brits and those travelling abroad from this country or watching on SKY at home, dont watch to see the Brits come last, they watch to see the likes of Crump, Nicki, Emil etc. In fact if you don't have any Brits more people may go to overseas GP's as they will not have to put up with the embaressment of seeing their countrymen perform so badly. Also it is totally unfair on more talented riders that they should be denied a place in the GP's to enable a couple of Brits to get a place. If a British ridere gets a wildcard and the GP's are advertised as "THE Best Riders In The World" then BSI (or whoever is running it now) should be sued under the Trade Descriptions Act. -
Many thanks DW your efforts are greatly appreciated by many.

Crump still not 100% but did well in practice and was as fast as anyone else.

				Grand Prix Challenge.
oldtimer replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In this weeks Star there is an article entitled, Brandons Big Night. It says, "A massive crowd is expected" the article is not signed as I guess the writer did not want to be seen as an idiot. Nobody in their right mind would pay £25 to watch this meeting. Come to Somerset the same night and see Crump, Peter Karlsson, Woffindon etc etc. Meet Sam Ermolenko and Phil Crump in the pits, also pre-meeting entertainment and all for £13-50. YES £13-50 what a bargain. -
He said "we all think of Emil as a veteran but he's only 19. He also got his Emil's mixed up, and totally missed metioning about 3 passes etc, etc The man is senile.

The joker is there to make the scores closer and the meeting more interesting, it does not make the racing better. All this is fair enough if the powers that be just want speedway to be an entertainment, however this is short sighted, as speedway would be better served if what should be the most important meeting in the calander was taken seriously by the media. The Joker ensures this will never happen.

She does her best, but you could drag anyone off the street and they would after a bit of practice do as good. It makes you wonder what the interview process is for a SKY post. Ermolenko is another case in point. -

				Where Was Nicholls
oldtimer replied to Speedwayleics's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Once again Chris Louis showed what a useless and polictically correct interviewer he is. Failed to ask the question where is Nicholls when talking about the team to Rob L. -

				Gb World Cup Team
oldtimer replied to DarrenCook's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Does not matter who we have in the team for Peterborough, the Aussies will win it and GB and Poland will go through to the race off. That's why Peterborough match is a boring event and you may as well give young riders experience. When it comes to the final, then that's a different matter. -
Tucked away in a well known speedway mag, is the statement that the FIM plan to introduce new noise regulations for international speedway events next year that will require riders to use hugely modified silencers. This will result in speedway bikes sounding very different. Anyone got any other info on this?

No Aussies then? Brits should win easy but a bit of a one sided match. -

England V Australia Under 23 Test Matches
oldtimer posted a topic in International World of Speedway
In a well known speedway mag 2 weeks ago, it was stated that Dave # Name Removed # the England team manager said he had no intention in taking riders away from their club commitments. It was also said that Tai Woffindons dad also wanted his son to ride for Rye when this date clashes with the 3rd Test Match at Somerset. I wonder if the Aussie Team Manager, who I believe is Boycie will have the same view. If he does it would mean Jason Doyle missing the first Test Match as Somerset are away at Reading, and also Chris Holder missing, Poole away at Peterborough. Doyle could also be missing at the Swindon Test Match as Somerset are away to Sheffield. -

YOU MUST BE JOKING. Every race you knew it would be won by red or blue, whats good about that. -

Have not read all posts on this but thought it was a bad advert for speedway and you can understand why press not interested in covering GP's. Whoever prepared the track should get the boot. If you did not have gates 1 or 2 you had no chance. Stupid Ermolenko said what a good meeting with so many different race winners. Pretty obvious as each rider goes at least once from each gate that you were going to get different winners with inside such an advantage. If they cant prepare a track where in theory all four have a chance they should pack up and go home. -
Use GP score page in Speedway Star.

A warning to car drivers, allegedly traders and general public in Cardiff are angry about the recent increase in parking charges by NCP. Car park charges have apparently almost doubled overnight. Under new price increase NCP charges are 80 pence for every 15 minutes up to a max of £12. Alternatively it is £3-20 per hour. It is reported that the NCP park at Dumfries Place is slightly cheaper at £1-80 per hour. To make matters worse there are major redevelopments in the city centre and the car park in Mary-Ann Streer has been demolished.
