  1. Does it really matter how team riding happens? Yeah, there's the perfect inside/outside for 4 laps side by side... But it's a very rare occurrence these days to see the perfect team-ride. Sometimes you'll see riders waiting for a slower rider on the outside, sometimes you'll see a rider protecting a team-mates back wheel... Doesn't matter how it happens but you do what you have to, to ensure as many points for the team as possible. Cookie was protecting Derek's back wheel on Sunday and as I didn't see either Diamonds pass him, he rode the race for the team. End of.
  2. Agree with most of that Scotsman, with the exception of the above... Mitchell - as nice a guy as he is, was in terrible form when he was sadly injured. Both Liam and Josh have been a breath of fresh air in the side - especially at home where I think we're more vulnerable than away. We need both Joe and Max back to their best for Somerset on Wednesday - a track both like very much and maybe Derek back to his normal self now his Testimonial is out the way. Theo is hit and miss away from home but practically irreplaceable around Armadale and Claus is... well, Claus!! Cookie can't do it all on his own - you're right. However, if all the boys peak during the play-offs, I think we'll be right up there against the Somerset, Ipswich and Newcastle's of this league.
  3. Maybe you can strip it down just before a meeting... Wouldn't have been the first time that's happened at Brough Park!!!! Maybe we should start calling him "The 498 Cookie"
  4. Jeez - give it a break... I've painfully read through the pas few pages since I posted last and all it states is Cook bashing for not team-riding in heat 15? Don't you think you're doing an injustice to 2 experienced men around Foxhall thinking that if Joe had have taken the better gate 2 that he could've picked up a point from either of them for the win? The chances of Cook making the gate from gate 4 ahead of any of the inside 3 gates was next to impossible so he'd not only have had to beat both Witches during the race but also pass his partner (if we're accepting that Cookie would have won the race)... Not an easy thing to do... I was disappointed with Thursday's result as I thought we had a chance of snatching at least a point - Ipswich were there for the taking... However, the meeting didn't come down to heat 15. There wasn't the back-up for Cook or Tabaka and the match point(s) were lost well before heat 15. Lets just all move on... Ipswich were more solid on their home patch on the night, Edinburgh had the star of the show without enough back-up. I'm sure it's not the last time these two will come together this season and as I think the play-off groups may just come down to points difference, therefore, there's not a problem. See you in the Play-offs.
  5. Agreed Sue and I rely on the updates as much as anyone when I'm watching other matches that interest me either such as when Edinburgh's challengers are racing etc. The service everyone gives (and I'm a regular updater on the CZ too) is to be applauded. What I don't take kindly too is someone having a pop at the service (whoevers team they are) because they don't agree with either what's being written or they don't feel the need for another service.
  6. What - so we're not allowed to run our own updates site because there's another live updates site? What a load of rubbish. The chatzone runs our own updates by our own fans for our club. Yes we may be biased but we're also very fair in what the updaters post. We all see things differently to opposing supporters but you watch the updates that you want to. Some have humour that unless you know them may seem crass to those on the outside... But if you joined the chatroom on race nights you'd understand everyone. Your choice. In my opinion, the combination of the chatzone updates and the chatroom that is open to all on race nights for all supporters in my mind is by far the best service for updates. Then again I'm biased but that's my choice.
  7. Only sensible opinions allowed in the PL section... For outrageous stewwwwwpid opinions, please visit the EL section!
  8. If the rain don't beat us, I'd be happy to take a point (or two!!!) from Brough...
  9. My mistake, Belle Vue are at Eastbourne on Friday... However, they're also at Peterborough on Monday, so it'll mean a guest for the PL's #1:( Superb gesture from the Workington promotion who seem to be putting supporters ahead of other parts of the club this season - very good to see.
  10. Still think this is an easy home win... The result last will have got the boys fired up but Brough Park is a totally different story... Whilst CC could go through the card, he is beatable and to admit to a probable guaranteed 15pointer is foolish when you look at how the Diamonds are going at home at the moment. As with a lot of matches, this one could be won at reserve and Newcastles are on fire around Brough at the moment. Think this is where the tie will be won.
  11. Round 2 at Feckshall on Thursday will be a different kettle of fish... Hope Tungate is OK
  12. Top man! Tough week to come back into but sure it'll give the rest of the team a lift:)
  13. As much as I dislike Barker, it would have been easy for him to wait until Thursday so fair play. Will probably add to the attendance at Armadale too. However, you've got to question whether racing is the right thing to do... Especially with a back injury. My hope is that all riders come out of it unscathed this evening. as for the meetings of Barker and Cook? Don't think anything will happen. Cook especially has moved on and learnt big style from what happened at Foxhall and whilst I'm sure they won't swap too many Christmas cards or pleasantries, I think he'll distance himself from anything that can be put his way.
  14. Would probably say Monday wouldn't be considered as CC will be at Eastbourne with Belle Vue (unless that's a re-arranged fixture!)
  15. Think it's reported that tonight comes a little too early for Max's recovery time... Not sure who the guest is - won't be surprised if it's Bager...
  16. Going by our two last away results (yeah, I know the Weegies away yesterday shouldn't really count - but Leicester was poor), I predict a comfortable home win here.
  17. Indeed... If he scores 1pt, it'd be a bonus compared to what Hawkins would score.
  18. Quite comfortable home win on this occasion with the replacements making the Tigs stronger and doubts over the fitness of Max at reserve for us.
  19. And with good reason! The man has come out with some absolute drivel in recent weeks...
  20. Would probably have gone with Klindt out of that lot. Birks is decent at Edinburgh though and should score some points. Those saying Ipswich will be lucky to stay within 10pts? Are you for real? Edinburgh are suspect at times at home and looking at the reserves (more than not where a match is won), the Twitchers will heavily outscore the home 6 & 7. A lot depends on the fitness of Max and who the potential replacement would be if deemed not fit. I expect a home win but the Twitchers to take a point.
  21. Can't see a reply to this one anywhere... As both matches were re-arranged fixtures, then normal rules apply to who CC rides for as if they were both initial runnings of the meetings. As Cookie is an Edinburgh rider first and foremost and only doubling up with Belle Vue, he'll thankfully be at Derwent Park (weather permitting) to lead the Merry Monarchs to another away win:)
  22. Really? Not a blow at all losing him at Armadale on Friday... Hawkins goes round there as badly as Max Dilger did when he rode for the Monarchs... Very shrewd move that Hawkins' knee keeps him out of one of his poorer tracks and Lykke comes in (who rode very well in his previous visit for Rye House).
