Bit of a shambles really, but maybe difficult for parents midweek, especially now that a lot of them have returned to school/college. It does make you wonder where these junior leagues are really going though, as this sort of thing happens to often. Macauley Leek has now been named as the fourth rider for Rye House.

Apologies for these details not being in line with their headings when you get to read them, they are when I post them. I've had various computer experts come and look at the problem, but none have been able to rectify the problem. Well that's impressive, nothing came out that time, so lets try again!! You're quite right gustix, the meeting isn't in Kent, and I don't blame you for highlighting the fact, seeing that little publicity has been given to such an important meeting. Yes, tonight sees the King's Lynn 'Young Stars' take on the very powerful Kent 'King's at the Norfolk Arena, with points of utmost importance to both clubs. Sadly this meeting hasn't received much publicity at all, and I just hope that isn't reflected in the attendance. With both clubs beginning to reach the business end of the season, there won't be many more opportunities to come and see some of the stars of tomorrow. Even without their inspirational skipper Simon Lambert, who is scheduled to be racing for Workington at Berwick this evening, providing he's recovered from the flu like symptoms he was suffering at Peterborough last night, they are a heck of a strong side. Both sides have to resort to the guest facility tonight, with the home side opting for Coventry's Luke Priest, who notched 16-points in our colours a week ago last Sunday at Buxton, whilst Kent call on the services of Mildenhall favourite Josh Bates, who just loves the pacey Norfolk Arena circuit. Mouth-watering or what?? Full lines-ups are: KING'S LYNN: 1) Luke Priest (Guest) 2) R/R 3) Marc Owen 4) Scott Campos 5) James Cockle (Capt) 6) Josh Bailey 7) Tom Stokes. KENT: 1) Benji Compton 2) Josh Bates (Guest) 3) David Mason 4) Ben Morley 5) R/R 6) Jason Garrad 7) Danny Ayres. When that's all finished, you'll be cordially invited to remain in your seats for the Midland Development League Knockout Cup clash against the Hoddesdon based Rye House 'Raiders'. So all in all, quite an evening to saviour.

Although you won't find this fixture shown on the BSPA website, tonight sees the two clubs go head to head, in what I believe to be the 1st leg semi-final of the MDL Knock-out Cup. As publicity for the event is sketchy, I think it's the semi-final, so please don't shoot me if it isn't. The second leg takes place this Saturday at the Rye House Stadium. Both sides have riders competing that will have ridden in the National League fixture earlier this evening. For the home side, it will be the multi-talented Josh Bailey, who will swap his No 6 race bib of the 'Young Stars' for the No 1 of 'The Lightning'. As for the very busy John Sampford's side, Jason Garrad (no relation to former Rye House 'Rocket' Bob Garrad) discards his Number 6 Kent 'Kings' attire for the No 4 of the Rye House 'Raiders', and similarly, Danny Ayres swaps his red & white bib, for the blue & yellow No 1. It'll be fast, it'll be furious and It'll be good, and well worth staying on to watch. Full line-ups: - King's Lynn: 1) Josh Bailey 2) Ryan Kinsley, 3) Adam Portwood 4) Layne Cupitt (Would mind betting that two of those will be misspelt in the programme.) Rye House: 1) Danny Ayres 2) Rob Watts 3) No Rider (!!) 4) Jason Garrad (Possibly one will be misspelt there!!)

Peterborough V Workington 9/9
Mimmo replied to Lord Lucan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Like the meeting against Glasgow, this clash with Workington turned out to be another piece of top class entertainment. Ulrich Ostergaard pulled off the most incredible moves at times, the likes of which I've never seen before. I agree with the comments of Panther2006 regarding Ales Dryml, but also thought Adam Roynon was riding a tad over the top too. How lucky was Mason Campton to walk away from the Heat 9 incident, and come back out to win two races in fine style? Josh Grajczonek should have done better than 5-points, but on the flip side of the coin, Simon Lambert would possibly have scored more had he visibly been not unwell, suffering with some flu like symptoms. But I guess Joe Jacobs more than made up for that. If the curfew is 10.00pm, why was Heat 13 allowed to commence at 10.07pm, other than in a desperate attempt to get Peterborough all 3-points? A curfew is a curfew, and should be adhered to like it was last week against Plymouth. Why also does the track have to be graded after every few races, and is a 20-minute (25-minutes last week) interval between meetings really needed, when a curfew is in place? Even allowing for the fence repairs, last nights second meeting could and should have reached its natural climax. The public pay to see riders racing, not tractors doing as many laps as the kevlar clad entertainers, after such a lengthy interval for track preparation. Well done both teams anyway, you both deserved to get some points from the meeting, and you did. -
Panthers Vs Glasgow (9/9/13)
Mimmo replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I must say that I feel you were unlucky not to take all the points back up to Scotland with you, and had your No 1 done a third of the job that he was employed to do, then you would have done so. I'm in no shape or form knocking Peterborough, because they provided some excellent entertainment, but to never be in front at HOME until the last race, makes it a bit unlucky to the visitors for me, who probably like many people, didn't think they'd get within 10-points of the Panthers. What a dreadful looking crash by Rusty Harrison, and what a relief to see him finally get up and walk away. One of speedway's Mister Nice Guys. Well done both teams, for providing top quality entertainment. -
Quite right, the fixtures still have to be completed, even if they do come after the cut-off date. It makes the sport look very unprofessional with an unfinished league table. Rob is quite right, the season officially ends on the 31st October, and that apart, it's not fair for season ticket holders to just decide to not run a couple of meetings.

Darren Mallett Announces Immediate Retirement.
Mimmo posted a topic in Speedway News and Discussions
So after 14-years of racing, Darren has taken the decision to hang up his kevlars for good, and beat his dad to the smoking jacket and slippers!! I'm so glad that I was in attendance to see both your final and home and away meetings this week mate. You probably never reached the dizzy heights in the sport that you would have liked, and what we would have liked for you, but injury played a major part in that. You leave the sport with the Ronnie Moore Cup that you won at Wimbledon in 2003, along with one you would rather not have had to have been apart of, and that is of course the Memorial Trophy for your pal David Nix at King's Lynn in 2005. You also leave with our love and heartfelt thanks for all the pleasure that you've provided us with over those years. You've been a credit to the clubs you have ridden for, namely Somerset, Boston and King's Lynn. You've been a credit to your various employers, sponsors and fans. You've been a credit to the sport you've represented, but most importantly, you've been a credit to yourself along with your family and friends. You can leave us with your held high, enjoy a happy and healthy retirement, and a massive thanks for everything you've given to us. God bless mate, you'll be missed around the circuits. -
Worrying Rye House Rumours
Mimmo replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think Oldace has already said which one if you read it again. I hope nothing like that ever happens at Rye House though. Yes, Len is out of touch, but nobody can really want to see the club fold. Stick with it Rockets fans, dated speedway is better than no speedway.......ask Hackney, Wimbledon, Crayford, Canterbury, White City, Rayleigh, Romford, Oxford, Norwich, Long Eaton, the list is absolutely never ending. -
Panthers Vs Plymouth..... 2/9/14
Mimmo replied to Panthers89's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I haven't read any of the post in full, just odd bits 'n pieces. I've got to agree with positive reports about the meeting against Scunthorpe, and is the best meeting I've seen at any level this year. Agree about the lighting in the Grandstand, it's simply terrible. Would stronger light bulbs be the answer maybe?? I usually sit at the back of the stand, and quite honestly, I scribble results on a piece of paper, then transfer them to my programme when I get home, which of course is not the idea of buying a proggie in the first place. As for the lower order of the team, if I were the management, I'd be keeping close tabs on Matt Williamson, because having watched him on a fast track at Redcar, I think he'd fly around the Showground given time. With regards to league that you race in, I personally think it's the best thing that's ever happened to the club, as it's producing far superior racing to that of the Elite League. Just my opinions of course. -
Worrying Rye House Rumours
Mimmo replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It's a super little venue that can produce very good racing at times. I know there's been documented issues on this forum before over the rights and wrongs in the way that Len Silver operates, but the club, as a club, needs and deserves it's fans to stick by them. The sport would be poorer without clubs like Rye House, but I agree that if there are rumours running around, then an official statement of fact or denial should be made by the management. I've not been able to travel up to the place as much as normal this year, but when I have come, I have left feeling short changed. The gate at King's Lynn was abysmal last night too, and the fact that an England football match was on the box wouldn't have helped either of us, but of course that isn't the sole reason. As for King's Lynn, people generally stick their noses up at National League racing. Their choice of course, but that league in their case, is part and parcel of the revenue that's required to sustain the higher level of racing that the public seem to crave for, although I personally don't understand why, as it comes a poor second to Premier League racing. As for Rye House, I can't in my wildest dreams think midweek racing is a good idea. They've always been a weekend track, and that's how they should remain, whether it be Saturday or Sunday. Just my opinions, and I accept there will be those who disagree, and have that right to do so. -
Buxton V King's Lynn (mdl) - 31st August 2014
Mimmo replied to Mimmo's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Haven't been able to locate it I'm afraid. Good afternoon out yesterday wasn't it? What a shame there was only four King's Lynn fans in attendance though, as they don't know what they're missing. -
